Netflix se adelantó a la celebración de Halloween con el estreno de tres films basados en las novelas de terror juvenil llamadas "Fear Street" escritas por R. L. Stine, estás tres películas unirán diferentes géneros del terror como son el Sobrenatural y Slasher; justamente el género de slaher es uno de mis favoritos (eso lo digo cada vez que hago un reseña de Slashers) y es por eso que quería ver este film sin ninguna expectativa y hasta debo decir que ni los trailers había visto, solo supe de una breve información y de ahí en adelante esperaba ver buenas muertes, buen asesino y claro esta una excelente "Final Girl" porque como todos sabemos en este tipo de films existen reglas y eso es algo que siempre espero que se cumplan.

Netflix got a head start on Halloween with the release of three films based on the teen horror novels called "Fear Street" written by R. L. Stine, these three films will unite different genres of horror such as Supernatural and Slasher; just the slaher genre is one of my favorites (I say that every time I do a review of Slashers) and that's why I wanted to see this film without any expectations and even I must say that neither the trailers had seen, I only knew of a brief information and from then on I expected to see good deaths, good killer and of course an excellent "Final Girl" because as we all know in this type of films there are rules and that is something I always hope they are fulfilled.
En esta primera parte de "Fear Street" veremos el comienzo de esta historia en la época de los 90', específicamente en 1994, en el pueblo de Shadyside, Ohio en dónde un grave asesinato ha ocurrido, este no parece afectar mucho a este pueblo porque en el pasado siempre ha ocurrido horribles crimines que para muchos hacen pensar de que el pueblo está maldito y justamente por los asesinatos ocurridos, estudiantes de la secundaria de Shadyside y Sunnyvale se unen a pesar de su gran rivalidad para mostrar respeto por las víctimas, pero todo eso pura apariencia porque los jóvenes siempre estarán enfrentados ya que ambos son polos opuestos, unos son vistos como los rechazados, pobres, que siempre experimentan algo malo, los otros en cambio son beneficiados, ricos, todo lo que tiene es bueno y es la causa de esa rivalidad que un grupo de amigos se verán envueltos en algo que parece ser lo que crea esa nube de maldad que cubre a Shadyside, despertarán de la peor forma lo que posiblemente sea el causante de todo lo malo en ese pueblo y ahora deberán sobrevivir o ser otras víctimas más.
In this first part of "Fear Street" we will see the beginning of this story in the 90's, specifically in 1994, in the town of Shadyside, Ohio where a serious murder has occurred, this does not seem to affect much to this town because in the past has always occurred horrible crimes that for many people think that the town is cursed and precisely because of the murders occurred, students of Shadyside and Sunnyvale high school unite despite their great rivalry to show respect for the victims, but all that pure appearance because the young people will always be confronted as both are polar opposites, some are seen as the rejected, poor, who always experience something bad, the others on the other hand are benefited, rich, everything they have is good and it is the cause of this rivalry that a group of friends will be involved in something that seems to be what creates the cloud of evil that covers Shadyside, they will awaken in the worst way what is possibly the cause of all the bad in that town and now they must survive or be other victims more.
Este film es dirigido por Leigh Janiak, todos está trilogía está dirigida por ella quien para nada es ajena a dirigir historias de suspenso, misterio y terror, ya que desde su debut en el 2014, siempre ha dirigido historias relacionadas con este género teniendo esta vez una gran oportunidad para que su trabajo sea más visto que antes; en este primera parte me gustó mucho su trabajo en momentos de crear tensión y suspenso, resalto su trabajo en las primeras escenas lo cual fue lo que más me gustó junto al tercer y último acto del film, hay muy buen trabajo de cámara para distraer la espectador para después sorprendernos, no trata de ser original o mostrar algo nuevo sino respetar las influencias que tuvo al hacer algunas escenas y hacer hasta un pequeño homenaje, eso me pareció genial por parte de esta joven directora.
El guion fue con escrito por Janiak y Phil Graziadei de una historia hecha por Kyle Killen, la historia es algo que también me gustó, se que no es original porque esto de unir una historia de Slashers con lo Sobrenatural se ha visto muchas veces, sabemos que algunos de los famosos asesinos en películas son favorecidos por algún poder maligno y por eso son tan difíciles de derrotar, en este film ocurre eso y aunque valoro mucho cuando en una historia el antagonista no tiene nada de sobrenatural, no me desagrada que eso ocurra porque como ya dije, eso ya se ha hecho, lo que valoro del film es los elementos sobrenaturales que se usan y de cómo no afectan está historia en dónde la parte de Slasher es más importante que lo sobrenatural aunque ambos géneros van de la mano, seguramente en los otros films se vea un cambio de liderazgo de otro género en la historia, todo sea para que el desarrollo sea aún mejor.
This film is directed by Leigh Janiak, all this trilogy is directed by her who is no stranger to directing suspense, mystery and horror stories, since her debut in 2014, she has always directed stories related to this genre having this time a great opportunity for her work to be more seen than before; in this first part I really liked her work in moments of creating tension and suspense, I highlight her work in the first scenes which was what I liked the most along with the third and last act of the film, there is very good camera work to distract the viewer to then surprise us, she does not try to be original or show something new but respect the influences she had when making some scenes and even make a small tribute, that I thought was great by this young director.
The script was with written by Janiak and Phil Graziadei from a story made by Kyle Killen, the story is something I also liked, I know it is not original because this of joining a Slashers story with the Supernatural has been seen many times, we know that some of the famous killers in movies are favored by some evil power and that is why they are so hard to defeat, in this film that happens and although I value a lot when in a story the antagonist has nothing supernatural, I do not dislike that this happens because as I said, that has already been done, what I value of the film is the supernatural elements that are used and how they do not affect this story where the Slasher part is more important than the supernatural although both genres go hand in hand, surely in the other films we will see a change of leadership of another genre in the story, everything is for the development to be even better.
Creo que en este tipo de films el peso actoral lo tienen la "Final Girl" y para que pueda resaltar la actuación de un actor debe funcionar como está desarrollado en el guion, la dirección y demás, se que no descubro nada en decir esto, pero en un film de terror esto es importante, yo por lo menos le doy importancia porque la última sobreviviente es un personaje importante, ahora en este film no me gustó mucho en parte la actuación o el desarrollo del personaje de "Deena" interpretado por Kiana Madeira, a pesar de interpretar a una chica fuerte, también es una triste, que ha perdido lo que más ha querido y eso es su gran motivación para luchar, pero no para liderar, todo es muy pasional y es entendible las malas decisiones que toma, tal vez esto es lo que no me gustó mucho del personaje y con esto no quiero decir que hizo un mal trabajo sino que su personaje no es una típica última chica; ahora existen otros personajes que cumplen con las reglas y que me han agradado mucho más, en especial "Josh" interpretado por Benjamín Flores Jr. el cual si yo en el 94' estuviera en una situación igual, seguramente sería como "Josh", él es mi personaje favorito.
I think that in this kind of films the acting weight is on the "Final Girl" and to highlight the performance of an actor must work as it is developed in the script, direction and so on, I know I do not discover anything in saying this, but in a horror film this is important, I at least give it importance because the last survivor is an important character, now in this film I did not like much in part the performance or the development of the character of "Deena" played by Kiana Madeira, despite playing a strong girl, she is also a sad one, who has lost what she has loved the most and that is her great motivation to fight, but not to lead, everything is very passionate and it is understandable the bad decisions she makes, maybe this is what I did not like much about the character and with this I do not mean that she did a bad job but that her character is not a typical last girl; now there are other characters that comply with the rules and that I liked a lot more, specially "Josh" played by **Benjamín Flores Jr. ** who if I was in 94' in the same situation, I would surely be like "Josh", he is my favorite character.
Está primera entrega de esta trilogía de Fear Street respondió a las pocas expectativas que tenía, me divertí viendo este film, me gustó mucho la gran referencia a SCREAM, me gustó mucho el soundtrack, no puedo creer que haya leído un crítica negativa contra el uso de buenos temas de los 90' en este film porque para mí es un buen punto positivo, lo otro que me gusta es el uso y visión de diferentes antagonistas, creo que eso da una gran oportunidad para hacer muchas más referencias a otras películas porque créanme que este nuevo film de Netflix, toma mucho de otras historias haciendo homenaje en esta historia particular de terror y a todo eso creo que puedo sumar los secretos aún no revelados de esta historia, eso me engancho porque quiero ver más, quiero ver el desarrollo completo de estos films y la poca expectativas que tenía tal vez han aumentado al ver este film y solo espero que las dos últimas partes cumplan tal como hizo está.
This first installment of this Fear Street trilogy answered the few expectations I had, I had fun watching this film, I really liked the great reference to SCREAM, I really liked the soundtrack, I can't believe I read a negative review against the use of good 90's themes in this film because for me it's a good positive point, the other thing I like is the use and vision of different antagonists, I think that gives a great opportunity to make many more references to other movies because believe me this new Netflix film, takes a lot from other stories making homage in this particular horror story and to all that I think I can add the secrets not yet revealed of this story, that hooked me because I want to see more, I want to see the full development of these films and the little expectations I had maybe have increased by watching this film and I just hope that the last two parts fulfill as it did is.
