When I saw the title I actually thought that this was certainly going to be a story to look forward to. After Despicable Me I had always hoped to see the Minions again even though I knew there wasn't anything new they could tell about Gru but I was utterly corrected, lol. I know I was expecting to see a story about the Minions alone, even though I wouldn't have understood a thing they said, it'll have still be fun to watch.
There's so much beauty in the creation of the Minions, I don't know how they came about it but you can't always stop loving them. It's funny and at the same time enjoyable to watch their clumsiness and unexpected togetherness. One minute they're scattering the whole place up and the other they're building things together but then this movie isn't just about the Minions, it's also an insight into the life of Gru when he was growing up.
Everyone of us has role models and it's always our dream to meet them one day, to show them how much they've impacted you. But I've always wondered how I'll feel if I met my mentors and they actually make me feel less of myself, I think this movie gave me a brief insight into that feeling. But apart from the storyline, what intrigues me the most is the voice cast, it's unbelievable and you'll be surprised to know that this movie actually casted the voices of some of your favorite actors and actresses.
Voices like Taraji P. Henson of Empire always has that beautiful ring to it, the popular Jean Claude Van Damme, Steve Carell who is till can believe owns Gru's voice, Pierre Coffin who surprisingly does the voice of the Minions, Michelle Yeoh, Russell Brand, Julie Andrews and Alan Arkin. It's no wonder the movie did so well in Box office, grossing over $726 million worldwide with a budget of just $80 million. The Director Kyle Balda, with Brad Ableson and Jonathan del Val as co-directors, producers Chris Meledandri, Janet Healy and Chris Renaud, and writter Matthew Fogel deserve all the praise they're getting.
Plot
The takes us back to 1976, back to a time when Gru was just 11 years old. The little boy Gru dreams of being a supervillain and with the help of his Minions he'd always hoped that his dream would come to pass one day, so much mischief to be done. He always dreams of being among the most vicious villians of all time, the Vicious 6 who are his role models.
He's overjoyed when he receives a message for an audition from the new leader of the Vicious 6 (Belle Bottom) who hope to find a new member to join the team to replace wild knuckles (the founder) who had been betrayed in their last heist to find the zodiac stone and presumed dead.
Gru goes for the audition with so much zeal but is later disappointed when his interview didn't go to well. His devious mind leads him to steal the Stone from the vicious 6 in a bid to impress them but pisses them off instead and they go on a wild chase and the minions come to his rescue as he hands over the stone to Otto to take back to the lair.
Things go sour when Gru goes back to the Lair to find out that Otto had exchanged the stone for a pet rock. Out of anger, he fires the minions and decides go find the stone himself. However he gets kidnapped by Wild Knuckles who gives the Minions a 48hour ultimatum to find the stone or lose their master. Would they be able to find the stone and save Gru? Would the Vicious 6 be able to find Gru and deal with him?..I guess you'll have to find out for yourself.
My take on the movie
I think it's actually the kind of movie you can enjoy with your family. They're so many unexpected and funny scenes. One that actually got me laughing was the part where Gru fired them and immediately, they put on a sober song and all of them started nodding to it, it really got me cracked up.
I wouldn't lie that it had the best story line, I believe it could have been better, it wasn't deep enough but then there wasn't actually anything new they could tell that we didn't already know before in Despicable me. The graphics was on point as always, Illumination and Universal Pictures have always been great at their work and this wasn't any exception.
The movie àctually taught about friendship, and self discovery. There's still a lot of things we've not actually come to the point to discover about ourselves and we'll be surprised how far the people who truly love us can go to make sure we become happy. I can really see any fault in this movie and would surely recommend it to anybody. I'll rate it a 8 out of 10.

Cuando vi el título realmente pensé que esta iba a ser sin duda una historia para esperar. Después de Despicable Me siempre tuve la esperanza de volver a ver a los Minions aunque sabía que no había nada nuevo que pudieran contar sobre Gru pero me corrigieron totalmente, lol. Sé que esperaba ver una historia sobre los Minions en solitario, aunque no hubiera entendido nada de lo que decían, aún así habrá sido divertido de ver.
Hay tanta belleza en la creación de los Minions, no sé cómo lo hicieron pero no puedes dejar de quererlos. Es divertido y al mismo tiempo agradable ver su torpeza y su inesperada unión. En un momento están destrozando todo el lugar y en el otro están construyendo cosas juntos, pero esta película no es sólo sobre los Minions, sino también una visión de la vida de Gru cuando estaba creciendo.
Todos nosotros tenemos modelos de conducta y siempre soñamos con conocerlos algún día, para demostrarles lo mucho que te han impactado. Pero siempre me he preguntado cómo me sentiría si conociera a mis mentores y me hicieran sentir menos yo mismo, y creo que esta película me ha dado una breve idea de ese sentimiento. Pero aparte del argumento, lo que más me intriga es el reparto de voces, es increíble y te sorprenderá saber que esta película ha contado con las voces de algunos de tus actores y actrices favoritos.

Trama
La nos traslada a 1976, a una época en la que Gru tenía sólo 11 años. Está muy contento cuando recibe un mensaje para una audición del nuevo líder de los Vicious 6 (Belle Bottom) que espera encontrar un nuevo miembro para unirse al equipo para reemplazar a Wild Knuckles (el fundador) que había sido traicionado en su último atraco para encontrar la piedra del zodiaco y dado por muerto.
Gru se presenta a la audición con mucho celo, pero luego se decepciona cuando su entrevista no va bien. Su mente retorcida le lleva a robar la Piedra a los 6 viciosos en un intento de impresionarles, pero les cabrea y se lanzan a una salvaje persecución y los secuaces acuden a su rescate cuando entrega la piedra a Otto para que la lleve a la guarida.
Las cosas se complican cuando Gru vuelve a la guarida y descubre que Otto ha cambiado la piedra por una roca mascota. Enfadado, despide a los secuaces y decide ir a buscar la piedra él mismo. Sin embargo, es secuestrado por Wild Knuckles, que da a los Minions un ultimátum de 48 horas para encontrar la piedra o perder a su amo. ¿Serán capaces de encontrar la piedra y salvar a Gru? ¿Serán capaces los 6 Viciosos de encontrar a Gru y enfrentarse a él?... Supongo que tendrás que descubrirlo por ti mismo.
Mi opinión sobre la película
Creo que es el tipo de película que puedes disfrutar con tu familia. Hay muchas escenas inesperadas y divertidas. Una que realmente me hizo reír fue la parte en la que Gru los despidió e inmediatamente, pusieron una canción sobria y todos empezaron a asentir con ella, realmente me hizo partirme de risa.
No mentiría que tenía la mejor línea de la historia, creo que podría haber sido mejor, no era lo suficientemente profunda, pero entonces no había realmente nada nuevo que pudieran contar que no supiéramos ya antes en Despicable me. Los gráficos estuvieron en su punto como siempre, Illumination y Universal Pictures siempre han sido grandes en su trabajo y este no fue la excepción.
La película àctualmente enseñó sobre la amistad, y el autodescubrimiento. Todavía hay muchas cosas que no hemos llegado a descubrir sobre nosotros mismos y nos sorprenderá hasta dónde pueden llegar las personas que nos quieren de verdad para asegurarse de que seamos felices. Realmente no puedo ver ningún fallo en esta película y sin duda la recomendaría a cualquiera. La califico con un 8 sobre 10.
