We continue our episode-by-episode journey through My Other Self (Another Self / Zeytin Ağacı). If the first episode captivated us with its journey to Ayvalık, this Episode 2 delves into the power of family constellations and how the past haunts us no matter how hard we try to escape it.

The episode opens with a scene set in Crete in 1924, full of desperation and mystery. We see a woman frantically running along the shore toward a boat, begging a couple to take her away. After much pleading, the couple agrees and lets her aboard.

Back in the present, we discover the meaning behind that vision. Leyla is sitting next to Zaman during a session, where he helps her face her deep-seated fear of drowning. It is revealed that this phobia connects directly to that historical tragedy involving her great-grandmother.

Meanwhile, critical moments unfold for the other friends:

  • Ada: Back in Istanbul, Ada's life takes a drastic, unexpected turn that completely shakes her world... but I won't tell you everything! If I spoil it all, you won't go watch it with me, and trust me, you won't see Ada's plot twist coming!

  • Sevgi: She receives new medical exam results showing huge improvement. Surprised, her doctor urges her to keep doing whatever she's been doing, proving that the sessions with Zaman are genuinely healing her body.

All in all, it's an episode filled with visually stunning scenes. One moment I found truly magical and touching was how Leyla connects with her great-grandmother by sending floating lit candles into the sea at night.

The episode ends on a deep, thought-provoking note with Ada's internal monologue a rational doctor who still doubts Zaman, asking:

"If we knew how the past affects us, would we keep running away from it? And if we run far enough, will it ever stop chasing us?"
