Hancock is a film that tells the story of a somewhat anomalous superhero, he is often drunk and when he intervenes to do good deeds, he often causes much more damage. It is able to fly and is immune to any firearm or blunt body although it is careless and has no sense of proportion.
The inhabitants of Los Angeles, after the umpteenth destructive episode of Hancock, the inhabitants, already annoyed by his too impetuous interventions, begin to raise controversy and ask for the superhero's departure from the city for their safety.
Among his bailouts, Hancock meets Ray, a public relations man who tries to help him by providing advice to improve his image. The results are bad and Hancock continues to have an unharmonious attitude until the prosecutor sentences him to a prison sentence and Ray advises him to form himself and the hero is imprisoned in prison.
After some time, however, his intervention is required to resolve a difficult situation in the city caused by a violent robbery with many hostages. This time Hancock follows Ray's advice and easily resolves the case without damaging anything. To celebrate Ray invites him to his home and here he gets to know Mary better, his wife from Ray, and soon discovers that she too has supernatural powers. During a heated argument, Mary explains to Hancock that they are the only survivors of their species and that in the past they were a couple but the weakness of their species consists in the closeness between the two individuals of the same species, which is the cause of their loss of powers.
During a robbery, Hancock the immortal is wounded for the first time by a bullet and Mary runs to the hospital to assist him: here he tells the true story of the two of them, in the past husband and wife and they had decided to live together giving up their powers. But this decision resulted in the rebellion of their fellow men and they were forced to leave their world. While in hospital, a gang of criminals wishing for revenge show up in the hospital and seriously injure Mary. Only Ray's intervention can save them from gang violence.
So Hancock decides to move away from Mary, thus helping her to heal and accepting her relationship with Ray.

Hancok è un film che narra le vicende di un supereroe un pò anomalo, spesso è ubriaco e quando interviene per fare delle buone azioni, causa spesso danni ben maggiori. E' in grado di volare ed è immune a qualsiasi arma da fuoco o corpo contundente sebbene sia sbadato e non ha il senso della misura.
Gli abitanti di Los Angeles, dopo l'ennesimo episodio distruttivo di Hancock, gli abitanti, già infastiditi dai suoi interventi fin troppo impetuosi, iniziano a sollevare polemiche e chiedono l'allontanamento del supereroe dalla città per la loro sicurezza.
Tra le sue azioni di salvataggio, Hancock incontra Ray, un uomo che si occupa di pubbliche relazioni il quale cerca di aiutarlo, fornendo consigli per migliorare la sua immagine. I risultati sono pessimi e Hancock continua ad avere un atteggiamento poco armonico fin quando il procuratore lo condanna ad una pena detentiva e Ray gli consiglia di costituirsi e l'eroe è recluso in galera.
Dopo un pò di tempo però è richiesto il suo intervento per risolvere una situazione difficile in città causato da una rapina violenta con moltissimi ostaggi. Hancock questa volta segue i consigli di Ray e risolve agilmente il caso senza danneggiare nulla. Per festeggiare Ray lo invita a casa e qui ha modo di conoscere meglio Mary, la moglie da Ray, e ben presto scopre che anche lei è dotata di poteri sovrannaturali. Mary spiega ad Hancock, durate un acceso diverbio che sono gli unici superstiti della loro specie e che in passato erano una coppia ma la debolezza della loro specie consiste nella vicinanza tra i due individui della stessa specie, la quale è la causa della loro perdita dei poteri.
Durante una rapina, Hancock l'immortale è ferito per la prima volta da una pallottola e Mary corre in ospedale per assisterlo: qui racconta la vera storia di loro due, in passato marito e moglie e avevano deciso di vivere assieme rinunciando ai poteri. Ma questa decisione ha scaturito la ribellione dei loro simili e sono stati costretti a lasciare il loro mondo. Durante la permanenza in ospedale, una banda di malviventi desiderosi di vendetta, si presentano in ospedale e feriscono gravemente Mary. Solo l'intervento di Ray riesce a salvarli dalla violenza della banda.
Così Hancock decide di allontanarsi da Mary, aiutandola così a guarire e accettando il suo rapporto con Ray.
