Secret Windows is a psychological thriller in which the protagonist, the writer Mort Rainey, who is divorcing his wife Amy, takes refuge in his lake house to complete his latest job.
The tranquility of nature is suddenly interrupted by the figure of Mr. John Shooter, who comes to the door of his house to accuse him of plagiarism, claiming that the book he is working on is identical to one of his novels.
Initially the writer ignores the figure of John, who however becomes increasingly insistent and increasingly violent, stained with blood by those who have emotional relationships with Mort. Gradually, however, the writer begins to doubt the actual reality of John Shooter and reluctantly learns that in reality John Shooter is a creature of his mind and to commit the crimes was the writer himself.
Mort learned of being a murderer, last his crimes with the killing of his wife Amy and his companion, burying them in the ground of the house, where corn cobs are born which he will start eating with taste while dedicating himself to writing his book.
I really like Johnny Depp in these roles you want a little, I think they are his ideal size and the genre in which he best expresses himself. With the advent of the Pirates of the Caribbean, his attention was shifted to adventure / comedy genre, which fits him well but then a little fed up and so I look at some of his old films.
The setting is very good: a house on the lake in not perfect conditions is ideal for a thriller and the soundtrack is well connected with the mysterious atmosphere that surrounds the story.
A must see movie for Johnny Deep's nostalgics before the physical transformation of the last few years.

Secret Windows è un thriller psicologico in cui il protagonista, lo scrittore Mort Rainey, in fase di divorzio dalla moglie Amy, si rifugia nella sua casa sul lago per completare il suo ultimo lavoro.
La tranquillità della natura è interrotta all'improvviso dalla figura del signor John Shooter, il quale si presenta alla porta della sua casa per accusarlo di plagio, sostenendo che il libro a cui sta lavorando è identico ad un suo romanzo.
Inizialmente lo scrittore ignora la figura di John, la quale però diventa sempre più insistente e sempre più violenta, macchiata di sangue di coloro che hanno rapporti affettivi con Mort. Pian piano però lo scrittore inizia a dubitare dell'effettiva realtà di John Shooter e apprende, con riluttanza, che in realtà John Shooter è una creatura della sua mente ed a commettere i reati è stato lo scrittore stesso.
Mort, appreso di essere un assassino, ultima i suoi crimini con l'uccisione della moglie Amy e del suo compagno, seppellendoli nel terreno di casa, dove nascono pannocchie di grano che inizierà a mangiare con gusto mentre si dedica alla scrittura del suo libro.
Mi piace molto Johnny Depp in questi ruoli un po' vuoi, credo siano la sua dimensione ideale ed il genere in cui meglio riesce ad esprimersi. Con l'avvento dei Pirati dei Caraibi, la sua attenzione è stata spostata su genere avventura/commedia, che gli calza bene ma poi un po' stufa e così mi riguardo qualche suo vecchio film.
Molto bene l'ambientazione: una casa sul lago in condizioni non perfette è l'ideale per un thriller e la colonna sonora ben si lega con l'atmosfera misteriosa che circonda la storia.
Un film da vedere per i nostalgici di Johnny Deep prima della trasformazione anche fisica degli ultimi anni.
