A few days ago he saw Barbarian, and although many may have already seen it since it was released in theaters a long time ago and on platforms (Disney+ for USA and Europe and Star+ for Latin America), if you haven't seen it yet I don't know what you're waiting for to see, without a doubt, the best horror movie of the year.

I spend my time watching reviews and follow many content creators who make content about movies and series, I had already read about Barbarian and the phrase "the best horror movie of the year" had already come out in several places, however, knowing the environment well, these reviews are almost always an exaggeration or, being harder, a mistake and already, which I seriously believed due to the amount of horror movies there have been this year.

Hace unos días ve Barbarian, y aunque puede que muchos ya la hayan visto puesto que se estrenó en cines hace ya un largo rato y en plataformas (Disney+ para USA y Europa y Star+ para Latinoamérica), si aún no lo has visto no sé qué esperas para ver, sin lugar a duda, la mejor película de terror del año.

Como me la paso viendo reseñas y sigo a muchos creadores de contenido que hacen contenido sobre películas y series, ya había leído sobre Barbarian y la frase “la mejor película de terror del año” ya había salido por varios lugares, sin embargo, conociendo bien el ambiente, estas críticas casi siempre son una exageración o, siendo más duros, una equivocación y ya, cosa que en serio creía debido a la cantidad de películas de terror que ha habido este año

I'll try to talk as little as possible about the plot, which, honestly, is one of the best things about the movie. The direction is brutal and the characters are intelligent (at least up to a certain point in the film) which is a plus since we will not see the typical clichés, or, at least, we will not see them until almost the end of the film. If there is one bad thing about the movie (beyond several aspects that you may like more or you may like less, but they don't make it a bad movie or take away from it) it is the attitude of the protagonist, who presents as a person normal and intelligent but the more the movie progresses, the less empathy we have for and the decisions that makes.

Trataré de hablar lo mínimo sobre el plot, el cual, sinceramente, es una de las mejores cosas que tiene la película. La dirección es brutal y los personajes son inteligentes (por lo menos hasta cierto punto de la película) lo cual es un plus debido a que no veremos los típicos clichés, o, al menos, no los veremos sino hasta ya casi terminando la película. Si hay una cosa mala que tenga la película (más allá de varios aspectos que te pueden gustar más o te pueden gustar menos, pero no la hacen una mala película ni la restan) es la actitud de la protagonista, que se presenta como una persona normal e inteligente pero mientras más avanza la película, menos empatía tenemos hacía ella y las decisiones que toma.

Now, we must highlight the work of its three main characters, Bill Skarsgård, Georgina Campbell and Justin Long, who give us a great variety of real and funny characters, being for me, the best, Justin Long. Without the need to make spoilers, I can talk about the characters of each one, being Bill Skarsgård's the most real, and, without a doubt, the one we can identify with the most (or at least me, as a man), but for me the place of the best character goes to Justin Long as he plays an actor who has just been accused of sexual harassment and his character is seen as a reflection of reality and #metoo.

Ahora, hay que destacar el trabajo de sus tres protagonistas, Bill Skarsgård, Georgina Campbell y Justin Long, los cuales nos entregan una gran variedad de personajes reales y divertidos, siendo para mi, el mejor, Justin Long. Sin la necesidad de hacer spoiler, puedo hablar de los personajes de cada uno, siendo el de Bill Skarsgård el más real, y, sin lugar a duda, con el que más nos podemos identificar (o por lo menos yo, como hombre), pero para mí el lugar del mejor personaje se lo lleva el de Justin Long ya que hace de un actor que acaba de ser acusado por acoso sexual y su personaje se ve como un reflejo de la realidad y del #metoo

Undoubtedly, the film is not scary for some, but it is undeniable that the first half of the film will keep you on the edge of your seat until I finished, with anxiety and anguish, and then give you a little relax and move on to the horror as such. A film that is really very well written and needs good recognition, not by the critics (that too), but by the audience.

Sin duda, la película para algunos no es de asustar, pero es innegable que la primera mitad de la película te mantendrá al borde del asiento hasta que terminé, con ansiedad y angustia, para después darte un pequeño relajo y pasar al terror como tal. Una película que está realmente muy bien escrita y que necesita buen reconocimiento, no por la crítica (que también), sino por la audiencia.
