Tomb Raider Surpasses my Expectations(and doesn't have to talk about how she don't need no man to do it)

Review by @darthnihilus · 3068d · of Tomb Raider

So how was Tomb Raider? Is it worth your money? SPOILER FREE!

I would have to say yes, I think you should see Tomb Raider. Despite some of the negative reviews I've been reading from critics(I learned to stop trusting them along time ago) I actually enjoyed Tomb Raider quite a bit. Is it the best movie ever? No, but it is a fun action/mystery movie with solid performances and one of the best portrayals of a good character who happens to be female in years. That was the main thing that sold me on this movie, no feminist bullshit. Lara isn't a superhero whose obstacles melt away with no resistance like a certain force-sensitive we know. The movie doesn't try to shoehorn in any cringey dialogue about how it's so unusual for a woman to be doing this or an awestruck bumbling man she has to save constantly. Lara is a well rounded character who gets knocked down many times but never quits. And I think the most important thing of all is that by leaving out the feminist tripe they manged to capture the spirit of Tomb Raider and Lara Croft quite well. The mystery is interesting, it has puzzle solving and platforming and several awesome fights.

This is an actually good action movie made by Hollywood in the year 2018, for that alone you should see it. It is also a good video game movie, so basically a unicorn. Go see this this movie, it is worth the price of admission and hopefully if it makes money they will learn that well written characters of whatever gender are what sells a movie, not propaganda. Thanks for reading and go support this movie!

This was a good post. It has been hard to tell how this was going to turn out because it got a bunch of identity politics involved with its marketing. It seemed like people were liking or hating it because they are supposed to like or hate it. Thanks for being honest here.
