As the years go by, new movies are released, and we let many of them pass us by, but once we watch them, they’re the kind of movies that leave us thinking: “What if I were in that situation?” And even though it’s just acting, it’s really scary. That’s why Angel of Mine, released in 2019, tells such a powerful story—no mother would ever be prepared for the loss of a child. Yet life is full of children, and the protagonist forms such a strong bond with one girl that it sets off a whole chain of events—a game of suspicion and, at the same time, an obsession with that girl.
This is a film that starts with something simple and ends with something very delicate; that’s why it’s intended for a specific audience, since everything is psychological, yet at the same time, it involves facing a pain that’s changing everything or uncovering a truth—which is why every second of this film matters. Furthermore, it creates that sense of unease simply because no one would want to go through that—and even more so when you intrude on the lives of others—which leads us to wonder: Is what he’s doing okay? Will he be able to get help?
A medida que van pasando los años se van estrenando películas y muchas de ellas las dejemos pasar, pero una vez que las vemos son esa clase de películas que nos deja pensando y si uno fueran quien estuviera en esa posición y aunque es actuado, da mucho miedo. Por eso se estrenó (Angel of Mine), estrenada en 2019, con una historia bastante fuerte y ninguna madre estaría preparado para eso y es perder un hijo, sin embargo, la vida está llena de muchos niños y conecta con alguien de una manera tan fuerte que comienza todo un juego, una sospecha y a la vez una obsesión con dicha niña.
Esta es una película que comienza por algo sencillo y termina en algo muy delicado, por eso es una película especialmente para un público en especial, puesto que todo es mental, pero a la vez tener que enfrentar un dolor que está cambiando todo o descubriendo algo, por eso cada segundo de esta película cuenta. Además, crea esa sensación de incomodidad por el mismo hecho de que nadie le gustara pasar por eso y más aún cuando entras en la vida de otros y eso nos lleva a preguntarnos ¿Estará bien lo que está haciendo? ¿Podrá conseguir ayuda?

Furthermore, this can be seen as much a psychological thriller about grief as a conventional mystery film, because beyond uncovering the truth, it shows just how far a person can go when they’re unable to accept a loss.
Another aspect that works very well is the cast of characters, as each has a distinct perspective—and this is where Noomi Rapace shines as one of the leads; her performance is incredibly compelling, and simply by observing her face, you can already grasp her character’s anguish, guilt, and desperation. Meanwhile, Lizzie is not a straightforward protagonist, as her decisions are troubling—even misguided—but at the same time, we can understand where that almost desperate need to cling to the girl comes from, which makes everything feel real. Of course, it’s heartbreaking, but that’s where one decides whether to move forward or give up.
Esta película mantiene un buen ritmo que hace que la tensión se mantengan, puesto que se toma su tiempo para explicar cada detalle y a la vez crear un thriller distinto, donde se va construyendo mediante la mirada, encuentros y pequeños acontecimientos que van haciendo que la situación sea cada vez más inquietante. Además, todo esto puede llegar a ser un thriller psicológico sobre el duelo que como una película de misterio convencional, porque más allá de poder descubrir una verdad es mostrar hasta dónde puede llegar una persona cuando es incapaz de aceptar una pérdida.
Otras de las cosas que funciona muy bien son cada uno de los personajes, puesto que cada uno tiene una idea distinta y es aquí donde Noomi Rapace es una de las principales y su papel transmite muchísimo, donde nada más con observar su rostro uno ya puede entender la angustia, la culpa y la desesperación de su personaje. Mientras que Lizzie no es una protagonista sencilla, puesto que sus decisiones resultan preocupantes, incluso equivocadas, pero al mismo tiempo podemos comprender de dónde nace esa necesidad casi desesperada de aferrarse a la niña, donde hace que todo sea real, puesto que por supuesto da tristeza, pero es allí donde uno decide si avanzar o rendirse.
A really good movie—every element they used works, and it’s a psychological thriller where everything gradually starts to make sense. The characters really capture the viewer’s attention, and in the end, the film leaves you with a rather unsettling thought: when the pain is too great, can we still trust our own perception of reality? So if you’re looking for something different and want to see the fragility of a person who’s still trying to survive a loss, this movie is for you.
Una película muy buena, por qué cada elemento que usaron, además un thriller psicológico que poco a poco todo va teniendo sentido, además personajes que lograron captar la atención del espectador, donde a la final esta película deja una idea bastante inquietante: cuando el dolor es demasiado grande, ¿podemos seguir confiando en nuestra propia percepción de la realidad? Por eso si buscas algo distinto y ver la fragilidad de una persona que todavía intenta sobrevivir a una pérdida, esta película será para ti.
