This one is a strange film, it reminded me of the Calls series from the Apple TV+ streaming service because almost all the conversations we are going to see in this movie are just Tom Hardy's character on the phone, trying to fix a lot of problems in his life. The only actor/actress we see in the film is just Tom Hardy. All the others only participate through the phone, but don't let this discourage you from watching this film, I think it has been proved time and time again that minimalistic productions can sometimes achieve great results.
Besides Tom Hardy, the only remaining name to mention would be director/writer, Steven Knight. I didn't know much about this guy but since I enjoyed the film I wanted to know more about his career and it turns out the majority of his works have been as a writer, not as a director. And I was surprised to see him work as a writer in some awesome series such as Taboo, Peaky Blinders, and See, all of them are great shows. When it comes to movies, his main works as a writer have been with Eastern Promises and The Girl in the Spider's Web the 2018 version, which isn't my favorite but still a nice film.
So Steven Knight is actually a great writer who is just starting to try the director role. In the case of this film, Locke, the direction was very simple because the story takes place inside a car with only 1 person. The main attraction is how he manages so many issues that are happening at the same time.

Esta es una película extraña, me recordó a la serie Calls del servicio de streaming Apple TV + porque casi todas las conversaciones que vamos a ver en esta película son solo el personaje de Tom Hardy en el teléfono, tratando de solucionar muchos problemas en su vida. El único actor/actriz que vemos en la película es Tom Hardy. Todos los demás solo participan a través del teléfono, pero no dejes que esto te desanime de ver esta película, creo que se ha demostrado una y otra vez que las producciones minimalistas a veces pueden lograr grandes resultados.
Además de Tom Hardy, el único nombre que queda por mencionar sería el de director/escritor, Steven Knight. No sabía mucho sobre este tipo, pero como disfruté de la película quería saber más sobre su carrera y resulta que la mayoría de sus trabajos han sido como escritor, no como director. Y me sorprendió verlo trabajar como escritor en algunas series como Taboo, Peaky Blinders y See, todas ellas son grandes producciones. Cuando se trata de películas, sus principales trabajos como escritor han sido con Eastern Promises y The Girl in the Spider's Web la versión 2018, que no es mi favorita pero sigue siendo una buena película.
Entonces, Steven Knight es en realidad un gran escritor que recién está empezando a probar el papel de director. En el caso de esta película, Locke, la dirección fue muy sencilla porque la historia transcurre dentro de un automóvil con solo 1 persona. La principal atracción es cómo maneja tantos problemas que están sucediendo al mismo tiempo.

Tom Hardy plays a character who works as a construction manager. He has his own family and seems like a very responsible person. The next day he will have one of the most important nights of his career because they are going to receive a lot of concrete for the construction of a huge building. It is mentioned several times during the film the amount of concrete is record-setting due to how big it is. This makes it very clear the enormous importance of doing a good job when the trucks arrive with the concrete.
The only problem is that Tom Hardy's character, Ivan Locke, suddenly learns about something important to him that is about to happen in another city, and due to his personal past, he decides he needs to attend no matter what. He had a family commitment that night, and a huge day at work the next morning but something just clicks in his mind and puts everything at risk to attend his responsibilities in this other city.
Since his sudden absence seems to have no explication to people near him (family and coworkers), he will have to manage a lot of issues with a series of phone calls while he drives during the night. A movie where everything happening is just phone calls might sound boring to some but this isn't the case. As I mentioned some paragraphs above, this isn't the first production I have seen where the plot is just one phone call after another one. The intensity of these phone calls gets better and better, and I have to say Steven Knight did a great job writing this story.

Tom Hardy interpreta a un personaje que trabaja como gerente de construcción. Tiene su propia familia y parece una persona muy responsable. Al día siguiente tendrá una de las noches más importantes de su carrera porque van a recibir mucho hormigón para la construcción de un enorme edificio. Se menciona varias veces durante la película que la cantidad de hormigón es de récord. Esto deja muy claro la enorme importancia de hacer un buen trabajo cuando llegan los camiones con el hormigón.
El único problema es que el personaje de Tom Hardy, Ivan Locke, de repente se entera de algo importante para él que está a punto de suceder en otra ciudad y, debido a su pasado personal, decide que debe asistir pase lo que pase. Tenía un compromiso familiar esa noche, y un gran día de trabajo a la mañana siguiente, pero algo simplemente hace clic en su mente y pone todo en riesgo para atender sus responsabilidades en esta otra ciudad.
Dado que su repentina ausencia parece no tener explicación para las personas cercanas a él (familiares y compañeros de trabajo), tendrá que manejar muchos problemas con una serie de llamadas telefónicas mientras conduce durante la noche. Una película donde todo lo que sucede son solo llamadas telefónicas puede parecer aburrida para algunos, pero este no es el caso. Como mencioné algunos párrafos arriba, esta no es la primera producción que he visto donde la trama es solo una llamada telefónica tras otra. La intensidad de estas llamadas telefónicas es cada vez mejor, y debo decir que Steven Knight hizo un gran trabajo escribiendo esta historia.

There will be a lot of fights over the phone with several people, but the reason for his decision is properly explained throughout the film. As a viewer, one can think there are simply too many things happening at the same time, and this might seem a bit exaggerating, but that's how intensity is achieved. By putting the character in a stressful situation and navigating those troubling circumstances.

Tom Hardy was awesome as it is usually the case. There are some emotional moments during the calls and he portrays the corresponding emotional state perfectly. There are also other moments that cannot be described without giving spoilers, but what I can say is that Hardy was excellent during the entire film.

This can be considered a weird film, there is only 1 actor and all conversations are through the phone. This is just the story of the night when his life completely changed. If you enjoy psychological thrillers, you should give this film a watch. This isn't a crime film, it is a drama couple with a thriller. I would have preferred a less ambiguous ending though.
Habrá muchas peleas por teléfono con varias personas, pero el motivo de su decisión se explica adecuadamente a lo largo de la película. Como espectador, uno puede pensar que simplemente están sucediendo demasiadas cosas al mismo tiempo, y esto puede parecer un poco exagerado, pero así es como se logra la intensidad. Poniendo al personaje en una situación estresante y navegando por esas circunstancias preocupantes.

Tom Hardy fue increíble como suele ser el caso. Hay algunos momentos emocionales durante las llamadas y retrata perfectamente el estado emocional correspondiente. También hay otros momentos que no se pueden describir sin dar spoilers, pero lo que puedo decir es que Hardy estuvo excelente durante toda la película.

Esto puede considerarse una película extraña, solo hay un actor y todas las conversaciones son a través del teléfono. Esta es solo la historia de la noche en que su vida cambió por completo. Si te gustan los thrillers psicológicos, deberías mirar esta película. Esta no es una película de crimen, es una con drama y thriller. Hubiera preferido un final menos ambiguo, eso sí.
