I haven't seen an animated movie for a while so I was happy to finally have a new one to watch last night. The type of animation used in this film was comic style, the movements weren't designed to imitate normal movements but rather sequences in a comic book.
The story is only for adults, we have 4 adult siblings that have a very powerful and wealthy father. They go to his building but what they don't know is that their father's deep sense of disappointment regarding his children has reached a climax, and he now wants to just kill them all.
This old man is used to having his way and he also has become a real sadist with very macabre ideas. He has planned a living hell for his children, while he has fun watching them suffer to death. This is a very dysfunctional family, to say the least.
What makes this movie unpredictable is the presence of extra-dimensional beings who also have a very sadist nature and apparently have a lot of fun watching humans experiencing pain. These beings have a game on their own and are capable of manipulating not only people but also time itself in order to increase the craziness of whatever event they are watching. For the siblings, this will be like being pawns on a fixed game.
Despite all the cruelty in the story, the fact it was all animated made it much more tolerable. The film was fun to watch, it had several twists and a bit of family drama. Although not everyone will enjoy the film due to its violent nature and evil characters.
If you enjoy animated movies, the Saw movies, and can tolerate a very macabre plot with cruel and evil beings, then this flick might be for you. Basically, this is a survival action film about 4 individuals trapped in a building and there is a lot of blood spilled throughout the story.
The best
- Very entertaining plot. It would have been difficult to watch this movie if they used real actors because of all the gore.
The worst
- I prefer a more dynamic type of animation.
