Ciao Steemians!
A great classic that any film lover will surely have seen, in the rare case you haven't, I strongly advise you to do not read this article and I recommend to watch this film, then, come back to read this post, because you've missed one of the most exciting movies I've ever seen.
Andy Dufresne is forced to a double life sentence accused of killing his wife and her lover.
It's 1947, the prisons are anything but hospitable, the one where main character will be locked up is one of these. Shawshank is gloomy, dark and evil as few others, starting from his warden finishing with the last guard just arrived. No mercy is shown to the prisoners that they adapt themselves by using unfriendly conduct with their jailers.
Another crucial character is Red, he is the one who, due to a modest price increase, manages to get anything, or almost, into the prison. Andy, closed in on himself, after months of abuse suffered by some prisoners, decides to open up with the prison merchant, asking to bring him a small hammer to cultivate his innate passion: sculpting stones to compose chessboard pieces.
Red is initially suspicious in this regard, but by thinking again changes is mind as he's convinced that nobody can succeed in the task of escaping with such a small object. From that moment a great friendship born between the two and they also form a sort of gang with few other prisoners.
Andy will even be able to get his new friends a beer, thanks to some financial advice given to the structure head of security, he is consequently taken a liking by the guards and will come to fill out the taxes forms even of the director.
Nothing lasts forever, soon thanks his partial behavior over the lines, will lose all the privileges that he had managed to achieve.

But he rolls up his sleeves and after being "promoted" to librarian, he manages to expand the library, after years of insistence thanks to the letters sent every week to the competent department to have the possibility to bring a considerable number of books inside it.
After this exploit he will meet a boy and help him get his diploma, but there's more, the newcomer claims he can help him prove his innocence.
When the young man was in a previous prison, another inmate would have confessed him that he had killed a couple of lovers and that the poor husband had ended up in jail in his place, and the latter must be Andy.
The warden turns out to be more than ruthless, after hearing the story, condemns the poor librarian to isolation for months. Once out of the "hole", prey to the exasperation of decades unjustly caged, he decides to escape, thanks to that small and apparently innocent hammer, but above all thanks to Rita Hayworth.
Beautiful, engaging and touching, the story of an innocent man forced to spend a large part of his life in captivity and then escape abroad to find a friend he did not want to lose, even though their friendship was born in one of the less welcoming places of the earth.
Based on a Stephen King's novel and inspired by a true story, this film launched its director Frank Darabont, who will direct The Green Mile, an absolute masterpiece that make inroads inside millions viewers heart and also confirming the excellent acting skills of Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman.
