Hola amigos || Hello friends
Today I woke up once again with that feeling of nostalgia because, as soon as I opened my eyes, a very pleasant childhood memory came to mind. Those memories that suddenly grab hold of you and won’t let go all day long. The kind that take you straight back to childhood, without any fear of “growing up,” so to speak. How I miss those days when worries didn’t exist for me and my biggest problem was tuning in to the TV extra early on Sundays to watch my cartoons.
It all started a few days ago when I was driving and saw a car throwing trash out one of its windows, so I sped up a little to politely yell at them, “Your trash is falling out!” The strange thing is that the driver and the passenger were police officers, and I wondered, “How much longer do we have to put up with these animals?” Yesterday, as we pulled over—as we usually do I talked with Doris to catch up on everything that had happened that day, and I told her about the situation I’d encountered. Maybe that’s why, when I woke up, I remembered the police cadets in Police Academy. That 1984 movie that became a comedy hit back in those days.
Anyway, when I woke up today, I found myself sitting on the couch in that living room, next to my dad, who was wearing that infectious smile, waiting for the movie to start. My sister and our mom were there with us, too. For us, watching Police Academy wasn’t just about turning on any old movie it was almost like a wonderful family tradition.
For those who grew up in the ’80s and ’90s or for those who discovered it later Police Academy is a comedy gem with a premise that was quite simple yet brilliant. A new government decree forces the police academy to accept any recruit, regardless of their background or physical abilities. This movie undoubtedly belongs to a golden age of cinema. And although, as I said, the premise isn’t anything out of this world, the goal is simply to make viewers laugh until they cry and I think that’s what made the franchise so successful.
Given that after the massive success of the first movie, there were six more and I think even a TV series. I don’t remember if we watched them all, but I wouldn’t hesitate to say we did, since, as I told you, my dad was a huge fan of these movies. I don’t remember them exactly I have only vague memories of the scenes but remembering how happy we were watching this movie is what brought me here. That’s why I want to share this memory with you and why not? a great comedy to watch as a family.
I imagine many of you have already seen it, and I'm sure plenty of others haven't. And that's exactly why I'm here: to invite those who haven't seen it to enjoy this wonderful comedy. And well, as always, this is just my opinion. I invite you to share yours.
