Al momento de estrenarse esta película no existía tanta tecnología como ahora. ¿Quién engañó a Roger Rabbit? Fue estrenada exactamente en 1988 así que ya podrán imaginarse todo el trabajo que conllevó la creación de esta película la cual podríamos decir que fue un milagro cinematográfico y saben el ¿por qué podría considerarse un milagro? El gran equipo de trabajo logró lo que parecía imposible, personajes animados con peso propio, sombras y una interacción física increíble e impecable con los actores y los entornos relacionados a las escenas que exigía la película. Es increíble saber que todos estos dibujos animados fueron creados a mano y no solo eso, sino que su animación fue creada tal como se hacían las comiquitas tradicionales, con fotogramas individuales. QUE INCREIBLE…

When this movie was released, technology wasn’t as advanced as it is today. Who Framed Roger Rabbit? premiered in 1988, so you can imagine all the work that went into creating this film which we could call a cinematic miracle. And do you know why it could be considered a miracle? The amazing production team achieved what seemed impossible: animated characters with their own sense of weight, shadows, and incredible, flawless physical interaction with the actors and the environments required by the film’s scenes. It’s incredible to think that all these animated characters were drawn by hand and not only that, but their animation was created just like traditional cartoons, using individual frames. HOW INCREDIBLE

Pero más allá de la gran animación que lograron crear el equipo de trabajo es que la película cuanta con un guion perfecto. Me encantó revivir esta película pues me encantan esas producciones enfocadas en los 40 además reencontrarse con ese detective cinico, desdichado y alcohólico fue bastante nostálgico. Por supuesto que también recordar a la chica de la película Jessica Rabbit y esa célebre frase No soy mala me dibujaron así ja ja ja… Pero encontrarse con Roger fue la gota que derramó el vaso pues definitivamente este intrépido conejo le da el carisma a la película y el peso al mismo guion que también cuenta con una conspiración de corrupción, asesinatos y un villano verdaderamente aterrador con una interpretación magnifica del gran Christopher Lloyd

But beyond the fantastic animation the team managed to create, the film also has a perfect screenplay. I loved revisiting this movie because I love productions set in the ’40s, and reconnecting with that cynical, hapless, alcoholic detective was quite nostalgic. Of course, I also enjoyed remembering Jessica Rabbit from the movie and that famous line, “I’m not bad I was just drawn that way,” ha ha ha… But seeing Roger again was the icing on the cake, because this intrepid rabbit definitely brings charisma to the film and weight to the script itself, which also features a conspiracy involving corruption, murders, and a truly terrifying villain, brilliantly portrayed by the great Christopher Lloyd.

Esa mezcla entre el humor absurdo de los Looney Tunes y la atmósfera oscura del cine policiaco clásico creó una narrativa apta tanto para niños como para adultos. No veo nada de malo en que por ejemplo mi hija de 8 años hoy la haya visto. A ella le encantó y disfrutó de la película, de sus escenas, del Roger y de todos sus personajes. Otro de los aspectos interesantes de la producción en general es mencionar el logro que tuvieron a reunir en una misma pantalla a las dos compañías grandes de la animación como lo es Disney y Warner Bros. No fue tanto para Luna que para mí porque para quienes recuerdan el cierre de la película es un musical increíble y volver ver a la escena donde Mickey Mouse y Bugs Bunny saltan juntos en paracaídas fue emocionante ja ja ja…

That blend of the absurd humor of the Looney Tunes and the dark atmosphere of classic detective films created a story suitable for both children and adults. I don’t see anything wrong with, for example, my 8 year-old daughter watching it today. She loved it and enjoyed the movie, its scenes, Roger, and all the characters. Another interesting aspect of the production as a whole is the achievement of bringing together two major animation studios Disney and Warner Bros. on the same screen. It wasn’t so much for Luna as it was for me, because for those who remember the film’s ending, it’s an incredible musical, and seeing that scene again where Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny jump together in a parachute was exciting, ha ha ha…

Para cerrar quiero resaltar que ¿Quién engañó a Roger Rabbit? no es solo nostalgia; es una lección de maestría artesanal, dedicación y amor por el cine. A pesar del paso de los años, se mantiene fresca, divertida y cinematográficamente impecable. Si películas como la nueva del Coyote intentan seguir sus pasos, es precisamente porque la fórmula de Roger Rabbit es el estándar de oro en el cine.

In closing, I want to emphasize that Who Framed Roger Rabbit? isn’t just about nostalgia; it’s a lesson in masterful craftsmanship, dedication, and a love of cinema. Despite the passage of time, it remains fresh, entertaining, and cinematographically flawless. If films like the new Wile E. Coyote movie try to follow in its footsteps, it’s precisely because the Roger Rabbit formula is the gold standard in cinema.
