Hola amigos || Hello friends
Para iniciar estos TTT, antes pasó a dar una vuelta que consigo por si mi idea del momento ya había sido publicada así no repetir la banda o, para abrir la idea y empezar desde allí, imaginarme escuchando la música de la banda que hablaré. Hoy me encuentro con el post del amigo @ablaze el cual nos comparte la felicidad de poder asistir a un concierto de la banda James la cual fue una banda que conocí a una edad más o menos de 19 o 20 años. Hoy tengo 42 ja ja ja… Tenía mucho tiempo que no la escuchaba y la verdad me trajo buenos recuerdos entre ellos, Oasis.
To kick off these TTTs, I first took a quick look around to see if my idea had already been posted so I wouldn’t repeat the band or, to expand on the idea and start from there, to imagine myself listening to the music of the band I’ll be talking about. Today I came across a post by my friend @ablaze, who’s sharing his excitement about attending a concert by James a band I first discovered when I was around 19 or 20. Today I’m 42, ha ha ha… It had been a long time since I’d listened to them, and honestly, it brought back some great memories, including Oasis.
Siempre he dicho que la música de Oasis la podríamos describir como una buena cerveza en un buen pub, con música en vivo y una buena energía en el lugar. Para muchos no es un secreto que no eran unos virtuosos pero tenían algo mucho más difícil de conseguir en otras bandas. ¡La magia para hacer himnos colectivos! Oasis es el ejemplo perfecto de que en el rock muchas veces menos es más. Acordes sencillos, letras directas y una la voz rasgada adecuada, han valido más que mil piruetas técnicas. Oasis surgió en la epoca del indie británico de los 90 pero rápidamente se convirtió en el estandarte del britpop. Su álbum debut, Definitely Maybe en 1994 rompió récords de ventas y los catapultó a la fama. Apenas tenía 10 años cuando llegaron a tener esa gran popularidad. Realmente los conocí casi al mismo tiempo que conocí a la banda James pero la verdad es que me quedé mucho más pegado con Oasis.
I’ve always said that Oasis’s music could be described as a good beer in a good pub, with live music and a great vibe. It’s no secret to many that they weren’t virtuosos, but they had something much harder for other bands to achieve: the magic to create collective anthems! Oasis is the perfect example of how, in rock, less is often more. Simple chords, straightforward lyrics, and just the right raspy voice have been worth more than a thousand technical flourishes. Oasis emerged during the British indie scene of the ’90s but quickly became the standard-bearer of Britpop. Their 1994 debut album, Definitely Maybe, broke sales records and catapulted them to fame. I was barely 10 years old when they reached that level of popularity. I actually discovered them around the same time I discovered the band James, but the truth is that I became much more hooked on Oasis.
Quizás por su popularidad en casa dado que mi papá era uno de sus tantos oyentes y bueno, después de un episodio familiar que tuve con él años antes, casi siempre compartíamos algo de música y él de sus conocimientos. Mi tio me presentó a Queen lo cual también fue una de las explosiones musicales que tuve en mi adolescencia pero ese no será el tema de hoy. Lo que si les puedo decir que luego de tantos años conociendo a esta británica banda, es que aun no siendo unos virtuosos tuvieron la contundencia de melodías redondas, guitarras saturadas al máximo y una actitud irreverente y descarada. Hoy sin remordimiento puedo decir que Oasis rescató el espíritu del rock británico más clásico para convertirlo en un fenómeno de masas, dejando un legado de himnos que probaron que tres acordes sencillos y una voz con personalidad son capaces de unir a cientos de miles de personas en una sola voz.
__Maybe because of their popularity at home since my dad was one of their many fans and, well, after a family incident I had with him years earlier, we almost always shared some music and he’d share his knowledge. My uncle introduced me to Queen, which was also one of the musical revelations of my teenage years, but that won’t be today’s topic. What I can tell you, after so many years of knowing this British band, is that even though they weren’t technical virtuosos, they had the power of well-rounded melodies, guitars cranked to the max, and an irreverent, brazen attitude. Today, I can say without hesitation that Oasis revived the spirit of classic British rock and turned it into a mass phenomenon, leaving behind a legacy of anthems that proved that three simple chords and a voice with personality are capable of uniting hundreds of thousands of people in a single voice.
Para cerrar este nuevo TTT quiero presentarles las que son para mí esos himnos que Oasis nos regaló para recordarlos siempre como los grandes que son. Espero les guste esta selección y de la que estoy seguro, más de uno estará de acuerdo conmigo en estas tres canciones. To wrap up this new TTT, I’d like to share with you what I consider to be the anthems that Oasis gave us, so we’ll always remember them as the legends they are. I hope you enjoy this selection, and I’m sure more than a few of you will agree with me on these three songs.
