As a child, every afternoon and as an adult; every night, it was an obligatory appointment to see a series in which; an outlaw was defending his town from the tyrant, that's where I realized my predilection for "El Zorro"

Paraphrasing a little Wikipedia data, "El Zorro" lasted three seasons and had more than eighty chapters. It was starred by Guy Williams who played the role of "Zorro" and "Don Alejandro de la Vega" in addition to a full cast of antagonistic and supporting actors; that gave action and comedy to a well-remembered series in many Latin countries.
Everything was set in Los Angeles - California; when this territory depended on the Spanish colony, it is there where the adventures of the fox are born; who imparts justice and marks with his sword; the letter "Z" to his opponents, by way of defeat.

Of the many relevant characters in this series we remember:
Captain Monasteries: An egotistical and narcissistic commander who always had the desire to catch the fox and was always embarrassed in each confrontation, in addition to the insults that one expected, told the clumsy Sergeant Garcia. Unforgettable those: Stupid! Stupid!... and all that expletive; capable of making us laugh...
Sergeant García: Clumsy, gourmand, drinker and dreamer. He aspired to be the "brand new commander" of all of California, but his confrontations with Zorro made him look completely ridiculous, despite this, he won everyone's sympathy, because he made the greatest effort to catch the fox, with really unsuccessful results. Without knowing it, he never suspected that his good friend Don Diego de la Vega, who was always by his side, was the fox.
Corporal Reyes: Eternal companion of Sergeant García, clumsier than him, impossible, however he also suffered from making a fool of himself; along with the rest of the army, with the attacks against the fox.
Bernardo: The faithful mute friend of the fox, he was a great listener and this served him to make intelligence, complicity and help the fox; several times he got him out of trouble.
Don Alejandro de la Vega: He is the father of Diego de la Vega, an honest, wealthy and hard-working man, he wants his son to inherit his land and get married, without ever suspecting that he was the Fox, something he finds out about in the final chapters.
After Monasteries, there were several characters who acted as governors: Many good, others changed and even killed. Subsequently, very bad governors followed one another and in the end, the series closes with a flourish, with someone very cruel to California: "The Eagle"
The Eagle was an antagonistic character who sent emissaries to cause harmful damage to all California and when all his minions perished at the hands of the fox, at the end; He had no choice but to do the dirty work with his own hands. Reasons? He wanted to seize California to sell it to foreign powers, being defeated by the fox and by the people.

Some curiosities:
- Sergeant García in real life was an outstanding Baritone singer, he was the one who interpreted the Introduction Theme, in English; del Zorro.
- Guy Williams "El Zorro" in his twilight years, lived in Argentina for a long time, until his natural death in his residence. His body, in an advanced state of decomposition, was found days later; thanks to the stench of it, which was reported by the neighbors to the local authorities.
- This series was colorized, with highly advanced technology to approximate real colors. They say that Captain Monasterio's hair was blonde, although in the coloring it appears black.
- Bernardo in real life, was a mime and a great humorist singer, so his gestures were very good staged, thanks to his training in said body art.
- Walt Disney removed the character of Captain Monasteries from the series. Reason? He himself became more popular than the fox himself, two popular characters could not coexist, there was only one and that was the fox...
From time to time on youtube, we see this series, there are many chapters subtitled or dubbed into Spanish; and they remind me of those good times in life, when the internet was something unthinkable and we were immersed in what was transmitted by the Open Signal Television, whose programs of that era; they were far from what is now seen on cable television.
It is a compliment to have shared a little; not of this series, but of the memories that one carries treasured forever in the mind and in the heart. Until next time. God bless you...
PD. The beautiful women and the fox's horses were also unforgettable, among them: Tornado What an intelligent, faithful and polite animal with its owner!...
