What I like most about Captain America: The First Avenger is that Steve Rogers is already a hero before receiving the serum. He's physically weak, but he refuses to run away from a fight or abandon someone who needs help. The transformation only gives his body the strength his personality already had.
I also really enjoy Steve and Peggy Carter together. Their relationship is simple but effective, especially because we already know that Steve's story isn't going to have the happy ending he expects. That final promise of a dance becomes surprisingly emotional.
Red Skull isn't the most complex Marvel villain, but Hugo Weaving gives him enough presence to make the conflict entertaining. I also love the World War II setting because it gives this movie an identity completely different from Iron Man, Hulk or Thor.
⭐ My Rating / Mi calificación: 8.5/10
For me, this is one of the most underrated movies from the first phase of the MCU. It's a superhero origin story, a war adventure and, surprisingly, a pretty emotional story about sacrifice.
