Greetings dear friends, after so much thinking about the film with which I would participate in the Halloween contest, I finally decided on "The Corpse" (Kadaver) a film that is suspenseful and comes with a social experiment, where it shows how humans can get to bring out the true nature that we carry inside when we find ourselves in a world of tragedy and famine.
Saludos queridos amigos, después de tanto pensar sobre la película con la que haría mi participación en el concurso de Halloween, al final me decidí por “El cadáver” (Kadaver) una película que es de suspenso y que viene acompañada de un experimento social, en donde se muestra la manera en que los humanos podemos llegar a sacar a la verdadera naturaleza que llevamos por dentro al encontrarnos en un mundo de tragedias y hambruna.
The movie "The Corpse" is on the Netflix platform and was released in 2020, I thought it could be a good option to watch this Halloween season. I must clarify that the film may not be for all movie lovers, as it is somewhat slow and unconvincing, personally it has my considerations, since I love the horror that was shown, without exaggeration, in a safe way and with a hidden message behind the story.
Also, at the beginning I was attracted by the visual style shown: photographs, symbolism everywhere and the color red is very predominant in the scenes. Also the main idea is entertaining, where a short family in the middle of a post nuclear apocalypse and famine have to survive in a bitter and cruel way.
La película “El cadáver” se encuentra en la plataforma de Netflix y se estrenó en el año 2020, me pareció que puede ser una buena opción para ver en esta temporada de Halloween. Debo aclarar que la película talvez no sea para todos los amantes del cine, ya que es un tanto lenta y poco convincente, personalmente tiene mis consideraciones, puesto que me encanta el horror que se mostró, sin exagerar, de una manera segura y con un mensaje oculto detrás de la historia.
Además, en un inicio me atrapo el estilo visual que nos muestran como: fotografías, simbolismo por todas partes y el color rojo es muy predominante en las escenas. Así también la idea principal es entretenida, en donde una familia corta en pleno apocalipsis post nuclear y hambruna tienen que sobrevivir de una forma amarga y cruel.
Can anyone imagine how to survive in a time of post nuclear apocalypse and famine? For some reason plots like this get me, and I imagine the way I would act in case it ever happens in this reality, what would I do to survive, because of course, I can't just sit idly by when all that matters is staying alive. Then I almost always come to the conclusion that it's better to hide in a safe place, I'm so fearful that my answer is to hide and steal food, maybe hahaha it's not important, let's leave it there.
Before watching the movie you have to know that it belongs to the genre of suspense and psychological thriller, the goal is not to fill you with fear and expect to give some screams as the film goes on, but rather to horrify you with the things that humanity can do to survive in a world that is about to disappear. There is a lot to talk about when society really brings out its true nature, in which there will always be a leader, who has power and knows how to play in this game of "life", some can become heroes or others end up taking advantage of the weak, in a "compassionate" way.
¿Alguien se imagina cómo sobrevivir en una época de apocalipsis post nuclear y hambruna? Por alguna razón las tramas de este tipo me atrapan, e imagino la manera en como yo actuaría en caso de que alguna vez suceda en esta realidad, ¿qué haría para sobrevivir?, porque claro, no puedo quedarme de brazos cruzados cuando lo único que importa es seguir vivo. Entonces casi siempre llego a la conclusión de que es mejor esconderse en un lugar seguro, soy tan temerosa que mi respuesta es esconderme y robar comida, quizás jajaja no es importante, dejémoslo ahí.
Antes de ver la película tienes que saber que pertenece al género del suspenso y thriller psicológico, el objetivo no es que te llenes de miedo y esperes dar algunos gritos mientras transcurre la película, sino más bien horrorizarse con las cosas que puede llegar hacer la humanidad para sobrevivir en un mundo que está a poco de desaparecer. De esto hay mucho que hablar cuando realmente la sociedad saca a flote su verdadera naturaleza, en la siempre habrá un líder, que tenga poder y sepa como jugar en este juego de la “vida” unos pueden llegar a ser héroes u otros terminan aprovechándose de los débiles, de una forma “compasible”.
Without further ado, let's get into the context of the film. It starts a bit slow, first it warns us about the place where the protagonists are, where the houses are destroyed, desolate and everything is seen with a pretty dense fog, dead people in the streets, and some ruined newspapers stating that there was a nuclear disaster and some wars. After this, things get interesting, as our protagonists, a family formed by Leonora, her husband Jacob and their little daughter Alice, are invited to a dinner and a theatrical show by a man who owns a luxurious hotel and who appears to be wealthy in the midst of all the disaster.
Sin más que decir, entremos en contexto sobre la película. Inicia un tanto lenta, primero nos pone en aviso sobre el lugar en el que se encuentran los protagonistas, donde las casas están destruidas, desoladas y todo se ve con una niebla bastante densa, personas muertas en las calles, y algunos periódicos arruinados afirmando que hubo un desastre nuclear y algunas guerras. Luego de esto, el asunto se va poniendo interesante, ya que nuestros protagonistas, una familia conformada por Leonora, su marido Jacob y su pequeña hija Alice, son invitados a una cena y a un espectáculo teatral por un hombre que es dueño de un lujoso hotel y que aparenta ser pudiente en medio de todo el desastre.
Thus begins this thematic game that for a moment there are scenes that assimilate with the famous series, the "squid game" where players wearing masks try to survive. However, in this story the plot revolves around a play in which the stage is the hotel, and the spectators wearing masks follow the actors as they act among themselves. The spectators choose who to follow and each one takes you to a place in the house where one scene or another takes place. Everything goes well until the protagonists lose their daughter and begin to notice that the people who were in the hotel are disappearing, so begins a struggle to try to escape and a series of revelations that are bloody and terrifying, if you want to know more you have to see it.
Así comienza este juego temático que por un momento hay escenas que asimilan con la famosa serie, el “juego del calamar” en donde los jugadores que usan máscaras tratan de sobrevivir. Sin embargo, en esta historia la trama gira en torno a una obra de teatro en la que el escenario es el hotel, y los espectadores que usan máscaras van siguiendo a los actores mientras actúan entre ellos. Los espectadores eligen a quién seguir y cada uno te va llevando a un lugar de la casa donde se desarrolla una escena u otra. Todo va bien hasta que los protagonistas pierden a su hija y comienzan a notar que las personas que estaban en el hotel están desapareciendo, así empieza una lucha por tratar de escapar y una serie de revelaciones que son sangrientas y aterradoras, si quieres saber más tienes que verla.

In my opinion, the film takes very good care of the details, for example, you can see how the red carpets that predominate throughout the hotel, indicates that, although outside there is chaos, there will be luxuries for those who have a good social status, red is also blood and then there are the mazes that is synonymous with confusion and decision making. Another symbolism that left me thinking is the portrait of a lamb's head spilling blood on a plate; for me the lambs are all the spectators who are deceived and serve as food, however, no one notices it, although the portrait is everywhere and so they can escape, but how to imagine it if they have been well served by their host who even prepared entertainment in his play in which it was shown (family discussions, sex, food reversals and more).
Everything is a well organized and structured show, at the end of the day, after so much pain, and suffering who doesn't want to have fun, I would say that we all want to think that we are important and that someone thinks about the suffering of us and will do something about it, just like the big dinner in this movie, we want the hope that we deserve to live and believe that there is nothing wrong, even if inside there is doubt. But there is always an awakener who seeks to warn the other sheep in the pen, without committing spoilers you should see the movie.
En mi opinión, la película cuida muy bien de los detalles, por ejemplo, se puede ver como las alfombras rojas que predominan por todo el hotel, nos indica que, aunque afuera exista caos, habrá lujos para el que tiene un buen estatus social, el rojo también es sangre y después están los laberintos que es sinónimo de confusión y la toma de decisiones. Otro simbolismo que me dejo pensando es el retrato de la cabeza de un cordero que derrama sangre sobre un plato; para mis los corderos son todos los espectadores que son engañados y que sirven de alimento, sin embargo, nadie lo nota, aunque el retrato este por todas partes y así poder escapar, pero como imaginarlo si han sido bien atendidos por su anfitrión que hasta preparó entretenimiento en su obra de teatro en la que se mostraba (discusiones familiares, sexo, reversas de alimentos y más).
Todo es un show bien organizado y estructurado, al final de cuentas, después de tanto dolor, y sufrimiento quien no quiere divertirse, yo diría que todos queremos pensar que somos importantes y que alguien piensa en el sufrimiento de nosotros y hará algo al respecto, así como la gran cena de esta película, queremos la esperanza de que merecemos vivir y creer que no hay nada malo, aunque por dentro exista la duda. Pero siempre hay un despierto que busca avisar a las otras ovejas del corral, sin llegar a cometer spoiler debes ver la película.
I really like the message behind the whole story, in which I somehow try to relate to real life, "if a spectator takes off the mask, the actors pretend to be a ghost". I think there are many loose ideas in the development of the film, some things are simple and predictable. It's not an epoch-making story, but what it wanted to show, it was done well.
Realmente me gusta el mensaje que hay detrás de toda la historia, en la que de alguna manera busco relacionar con la vida real, “si un espectador se quita la máscara, los actores hacen como si fuera un fantasma”. Pienso que hay muchas ideas sueltas en el desarrollo de la película, algunas cosas son sencillas y predecibles. No es una historia que vaya a marcar época, pero lo que se quería mostrar, se hizo bien.

The film has a potential to offer and I like that, daring to what we are not used to see in suspense and horror films, where there are not only senseless deaths, but also a message to decipher in the midst of pain, where we can see speeches with double meaning, fake performances and sleeping spectators. If you want to think a bit about how society finds itself in an apocalyptic world and how terrifying it can be to learn the reality, then this movie is for you.
La película tiene un potencial que ofrecer y eso me gusta, atreverse a lo que no estamos acostumbrados ver las películas de suspenso y horror, donde no solo hay muertes sin sentido, sino también un mensaje que descifrar en medio del dolor, en la que podemos ver discursos con doble sentido, actuaciones falsas y espectadores dormidos. Si quieres pensar un poco sobre cómo la sociedad se encuentra en un mundo apocalíptico y en lo aterrador que puede llegar a ser al enterarse de la realidad, entonces esta película es para ti.
