This is my first time watching a horror that made me laugh so hard. It's not supposed to be funny to me, it is supposed to be a horrific experience but then I couldn't help myself but laugh because this is the most ridiculous horror film I have ever watched. It's a fantastic movie with a bright future but then Joe Begos did a fantastic job by making it a mess.
Christmas Bloody Christmas is a movie that was adapted from 1984's Silent Night, Deadly Night, a psychological slasher movie directed by Charles E. Sellier, Jr. CBC is an American horror Christmas movie that was written and directed by Joe Begos. It was distributed by Shudder studios and it starred Riley Dandy, Sam Delich, Jonah Ray, Abraham Benrubi, and Dora Madison. All the actors featured in this movie are not popular and this is my first time seeing them on the screen. This movie revolves around a robotic AI Santa Claus that went into a killing mode forcing the town's people into survival mode.
The movie begins with several fake Television advertisements for Christmas-themed promotions and events for a Santa Claus AI and from the ads it's clear that something is going to go sideways with the robotic Santa. So as the movie continues, it features a young lady, Tori in a small town who owns a record store and goes there to close up for the day as it is Christmas eve. Tori met her employee there, Robbie, and they had a brief discussion on how she was intending on spending her Christmas eve/Christmas day even though Robbie was against her plan afterward she made up her mind to go out with Robbie instead. Then Tori convinces Robbie to come with her so they have drinks together and also visit her friend Lane in the toy shop a few blocks away from her shop. When they both got there they saw a robotic Santa Claus and complimented on how realistic it looked.
Tori gifts Lane a bottle of whiskey as a Christmas gift and leaves with Robbie drunk and stoned to her the apartment she shares with her sister's family. After they left, the robotic Santa Claus goes haywire, kills Tori's friend and her husband in the toy shop, and then proceeds to track down Robbie and Tori to her sister's house. Getting there, Santa kills Tori's neighbors brutally, including their little boy, and then proceeds to look for Tori and Robbie. Killing Tori's sister and her husband, Robbie and Tori manage to get away from the robotic Santa but then catch up with them.
Will they both stand the chance? How will Tori fight for her life? You have to watch the movie to find out more.
My Review And Rating.
This movie had the potential of being better than it is, but the director messed it all up and turned it into a freak show. There are not many positives about this movie but the negative engulfs the positives. I will talk about the plot now. At the beginning of the movie, we were given the idea that Santa Claus Robot would go haywire and begin to kill, but what triggered the robotic Santa was not explored in the storyline. How possible is it that a Robotic AI goes haywire without a cause or problem? The storyline was quite predictable from the beginning to the end. Also, the scriptwriting was terrible and gives the vibe of lazy writing. The conversations seemed like they were written by someone who never had an adult conversation before. There are tons of unnecessary dialogues, lots of missing pieces of the storyline, and tons of swearing. Like 70% percent of the dialogues contained the 'F' word. All I heard were swearing words with no meaning to actually support the storyline background.
The actors are part of the big flaw of this movie. A good movie must have good actors to perfectly portray the role of the characters in the storyline or else it makes the movie forgettable by the audience and rated low. In this movie, the actors were bad at acting and expressing the role of their characters. All the actors seem to think shouting was the best way to better their performances and all their screaming led to no resolution or purpose for the movie. The lead actress was the worst of them all. All the actors failed to build tension or attract the audience. It got to a point where I began to laugh at their ridiculous performances and wanted them all to die, quickly, so that I wouldn't have to endure this attempt of festive slasher or can I say Krampus movie went wrong.
The scene arrangement of this movie was not for me. The action and kill scenes seem scattered, muddy, and all over the place. The cameras used for most of the action scenes were not effective. There was no good lighting, and one could hardly make out the faces of the actors. The neon lights used were discouraging, especially to those light-sensitive. Nothing was thrilling about the action scenes but the killings stood out to me as it was brutal, bloody, and messy, one of the positives of this movie. Also, another positive of the movie was the violence and nudity. It is something the director did mess up.
This movie won't win any awards but it will definitely bring back the nostalgia of classic 80s horror. Rating this movie, I will give it 2.5 stars out of 5 stars. I wouldn't recommend anyone to watch this movie or any horror lover. I thought the movie was going to be fantastic with the overhyped trailer, but I was highly disappointed. If you want to watch it, that's fine and I hope you enjoy it. Also, I hope to see 'Violent Night' soon and hope it won't be as disappointing as this.
