La época de Navidad siempre es vista como una llena de felicidad, amor, regalos, comida, fiestas y bondad y por eso que el mundo del entretenimiento se enfoca en vender esa imagen en las muchas producciones como series de TV, películas, especiales; estás producciones en su mayoría son bases de historias que pertenecen al género del romance, comedia, infantil y hasta de acción, pero existe otro género el cual siempre he creído que es divertido verlo ligado en esta época del año y ese es el del terror; varias de estas películas como cualquier otra presentan buenas historias y otras no tantas, pero lo que no hay que negar es que todas respetan característica principal de ser un film navideño cómo sucede con el film el cual hago reseña en esta publicación.

Christmas time is always seen as one full of happiness, love, gifts, food, parties and goodness and that is why the entertainment world focuses on selling that image in the many productions such as TV series, movies, specials; these productions are mostly based on stories that belong to the genre of romance, comedy, children and even action, but there is another genre which I have always believed that it is fun to see it linked at this time of year and that is the horror; Several of these films like any other have good stories and others not so good, but what can't be denied is that all of them respect the main characteristic of being a Christmas film, as it happens with the film I am reviewing in this publication.
El pasado mes de octubre, el servicio de "SHUDDER" estrenó una serie de films y otras producciones que llamaron mucho mi atención y que tuve la suerte de disfrutar, films cómo "Speak No Evil" y "SISSY" se convirtieron en films en dónde de manera diferente usaron el terror para relatar muy buenas historias; a causa de eso, estuve pendiente de otras más que se estrenarían antes de finalizar este año y al comienzo del próximo y justamente uno de esos films me pareció muy interesante porque se desarrollaba en Navidad; ese film es "Christmas Bloody Christmas", el cual relata la historia de los habitantes de un pequeño pueblo los cuales se preparan para disfrutar de una nueva noche de navidad una que posiblemente sea la última, ya que un Robot Santa, el cual originalmente era parte del Departamento de Defensa de los Estados Unidos, presenta mal funcionamiento un día antes de que sea retirado de todas las jugueterías; esta máquina navideña despierta no para regalar paz y amor a todos los mortales, sino terror y muerte a quien se encuentre en su camino y es que lo importante de esta época es regalar así sea muerte.
Last October, the "SHUDDER" service released a series of films and other productions that caught my attention and that I was lucky enough to enjoy, films like "Speak No Evil" and "SISSY" became films where in a different way they used horror to tell very good stories; because of that, I was looking forward to others that would be released before the end of this year and the beginning of next year and just one of those films seemed very interesting to me because it was set in Christmas; That film is "Christmas Bloody Christmas ", which tells the story of the inhabitants of a small town who are preparing to enjoy a new Christmas night, one that may be the last, because a Robot Santa, which was originally part of the Department of Defense of the United States, malfunctions a day before it is removed from all toy stores; this Christmas machine wakes up not to give peace and love to all mortals, but terror and death to whoever is in its way and the important thing of this time is to give even if it is death.
Esta es la primera película que veo tanto dirigido como escrito por Joe Begos, quien es un joven director y que ya ha dirigido dos films que se estrenaron en el 2019; esos films son "VFW" y "Bliss" y que espero próximamente ver. En esta oportunidad, Begos demuestra un estilo muy ligado a films slashers clase B, el uso de la sangre y demás efectos especiales en dónde el maquillaje, uso de prótesis y demás, hace recordar esos grandes trabajos realizados en films de los 80' que junto a la cultura pop de los 90' se convierte en una marca del film. Puedo hacer una crítica sobre el uso de la cámara en algunas escenas tomando el punto de vista del "Robot Santa", pero al ser pocas no molestan y rápidamente son suplantadas por las muy divertidas escenas de las muertes.
La historia es lo que más me atrajo y es que en el género slasher siempre es simple aunque al tener una historia de base, junto a un buen antagonista y una mejor Final Girl, es donde hace que la producción sea mucho mejor y en esta película, en parte cumple con esas características; por ejemplo realizar un film directo y rápido en dónde un robot disfrazó como Santa Claus despierta por una mal función y decide acabar con toda vida humana que se consiga en el camino; creo que eso es algo que me pareció excelente y más cuando se desarrolla en Navidad, en mi opinión es perfecto porque es como cuando quieres que la "Noche Buena" sea diferente, excitante, que rompa la monotonía y justamente sucede un "Milagro de Navidad" que en vez de traer dicha, trae muerte; así de primer momento es de simple este Slasher Navideño, con elementos Sci-Fi y Survival Film.
This is the first film that I see both directed and written by Joe Begos, who is a young director and who has already directed two films that were released in 2019; those films are "VFW" and "Bliss" and that I hope to see soon. In this opportunity, Begos shows a style very linked to B class slashers films, the use of blood and other special effects where the makeup, use of prosthetics and others, reminds us of those great works made in films of the 80's that together with the pop culture of the 90's becomes a mark of the film. I can make a criticism about the use of the camera in some scenes taking the point of view of the "Robot Santa", but being few they do not bother and are quickly supplanted by the very funny scenes of the deaths.
The story is what attracted me the most and in the slasher genre is always simple but having a basic story, along with a good antagonist and a better Final Girl, is where it makes the production much better and in this film, partly meets those characteristics; for example making a direct and fast film where a robot disguised as Santa Claus wakes up for a bad function and decides to kill every human life that gets in the way; I think this is something that I found excellent and even more when it takes place at Christmas, in my opinion it is perfect because it is like when you want the "Christmas Eve" to be different, exciting, to break the monotony and just happens a "Christmas Miracle" that instead of bringing joy, brings death; this is how simple this Christmas Slasher, with Sci-Fi and Survival Film elements, is at first moment.
No puedo decir que las actuaciones son las mejores porque no lo son aunque lo importante era aparecer, gritar, tratar de huir, tropezar, ser atrapado y después morir; muchos de estos personajes no cumplieron con eso y su paso en el film fue olvidable porque el poco tiempo que tuvieron en escena, en cambio, otros que si tuvieron mayor tiempo en el film tampoco cumplieron y eso es debido a dos cosas, el error del guion a desarrollar escenas que me parecieron muy largas y con muy poco peso y otra por las actuaciones; entonces se puede pensar que este film no cumple con el factor de tener una excelente Final Girl y creo que sí lo cumple y eso es cuando justamente el personaje de "Tori Tooms" interpretado por Riley Dandy toma el verdadero control del film lo cual es prácticamente en el acto final y que funciona muy bien para una producción de tan solo una hora y media de duración.
I can't say that the performances are the best because they are not, although the important thing was to appear, scream, try to run away, stumble, be caught and then die; many of these characters did not comply with that and their passage in the film was forgettable because the little time they had on stage, on the other hand, others who had more time in the film did not comply either and that is due to two things, the script's mistake to develop scenes that seemed to me very long and with very little weight and another because of the performances; So you may think that this film does not meet the factor of having an excellent Final Girl and I think it does and that is precisely when the character of "Tori Tooms" played by Riley Dandy takes real control of the film which is practically in the final act and that works very well for a production of only an hour and a half.
Está película era una de las que más quería ver en este mes festivo; es un divertido, directo, rápido slasher con mucha influencia por supuesto de Terminator y otros films de terror con ciencia-ficción y eso lo encontré maravilloso; ahora, no es un film perfecto porque en su primer acto se pone a prueba al espectador y eso es tanto por las actuaciones cómo por los personajes que interpretan, ya que los diálogos son tan poco importantes, aunque tengo la sensación de demostrar como una normalidad o banalidad que viven en ese pequeño pueblo se puede interrumpir por algo tan extraño como un Robot Santa asesino, pero aparte de eso, cuando la verdadera diversión aparece es donde el film mejora y mucho porque debo decir que "Robot Santa" es un gran antagonista, es muy bueno, es implacable, violento, crudo, es mi personaje favorito del film y en mi opinión es el verdadero protagonista de esta historia y espero que con todo lo que brevemente sucede al comienzo del film sirva para que muy pronto exista una secuela posiblemente en navidad u otra festividad.
This movie was one of the ones I most wanted to see this holiday month; it's a fun, straightforward, fast-paced slasher with a lot of influence of course from Terminator and other sci-fi horror films and I found that wonderful; now, it's not a perfect film because in its first act the viewer is put to the test and that's as much for the performances as for the characters they play, since the dialogues are so unimportant, although I have the feeling of showing how a normality or banality that live in that small town can be interrupted by something as strange as a killer Santa Robot, but apart from that, when the real fun appears is where the film improves and a lot because I must say that "Robot Santa" is a great antagonist, he is very good, he is relentless, violent, crude, he is my favorite character of the film and in my opinion he is the real protagonist of this story and I hope that with everything that briefly happens at the beginning of the film will serve for a sequel very soon possibly at Christmas or another holiday.
