I've not read a dark romance series that has unsettled me like this trilogy. I wasn't simply reading but experiencing, and some parts were difficult to forget. After the emotional chaos of Insatiable and the increasingly painful darkness of Voracious, I started the final book knowing better than to expect peace. In fact, I wish I could have a sit-down with the author to understand how she came about this story. Still, this trilogy tells the reality of our cruel world in vivid detail for readers to confront the darker side of human nature.
Never mind the title, this book is not a gentle landing after the two turbulent books before it. It's the trilogy's final and most violent read filled with revenge, trauma, loss, obsession and the desperate fight to hold onto loved ones before the darkness takes everything away.

After reading the two books in this trilogy, it feels like Leigh Rivers stomped on my heart and broke it into tiny pieces but when I sped through the third book to reach the ending, she slowly mended it back together. This trilogy is not one I'd recommend lightly but if you enjoy a story with depth, told in vivid detail without apology, and one that reveals the cruelty and darkness of this world, these three books are worth picking up.
Let's start with the title of this book. As the final chapter of Kade and Stacey's story, it perfectly captures the central theme where the author ties up all the subplots and tries to give each character what is due to them. While doing so, she raises complicated questions about justice and revenge. I can't say that I'm completely satisfied with the fate of some characters but I sighed with relief when I reached the ending of Kade and Stacey's story. After everything these two have endured, they finally find some measure of peace.
In the other two books, romance is at the fore of the story but in Restitution, it almost becomes secondary to survival at certain points. Kade and Stacey's love remains the emotional heart of the story but this book is also about war. Not only the literal conflict surrounding them but the wars happening inside their minds. Kade is carrying so much trauma, rage, guilt and psychological damage such that I wondered at a point whether love alone could reach him. I admire Stacey's strength. Despite her terrible experiences, she keeps fighting for the person she loves and for the possibility of a future beyond their nightmares.
Throughout this series, Kade has been an intense and morally dark character. This third book does not suddenly clean him up; instead it forces readers to see him in action when he is pushed to his limit.
I also love the way Leigh Rivers writes her supporting characters to matter as much as the leads. In this book, Kade and Stacey's world becomes larger because their relationships with supporting characters have developed emotional weight. The story becomes bigger and readers care not only for Kade and Stacey but for their friends and families.
The emotional experience of reading this book was exhausting in the best and worst ways. Kade and Stacey's journey is extreme and dark. There were moments when I wanted the characters to catch a break and Leigh Rivers seemed determined to deny me that comfort. The story contains explicit sexual content and difficult themes, and the content warnings are worth taking seriously before reading.
Rating this book, I'd give it 9 out of 10 stars. This trilogy will stay with me for a long time. It begins with obsession and broken trust, travels through trauma and devastation and finally rests where each character must face the consequences of their actions. It is painful, intense, explicit and emotionally demanding, and the author deserves an applause for this well-written story.
