For a few days now, I have been having this urge to write about this movie called CLOUD but for some reason, I have been having difficulty doing that. Today, I decided to do a review of the movie.
About the movie Clouds is a 2020 American biographical musical drama and were released in the year October 16 2020 by Justin Baldoni who is the producer, and written by Kara Holden.
Plot Zach who is a young teen has been struggling with osteosarcoma and has been receiving regular treatments for it but after some time, Zach and his family realizes that his cancer has spread and that the treatments are no longer effectively making his cancer terminal now giving him few months to live.
Zach is a passionate lover of music, and with the help of his friend, who once helped him to write music ("Blueberries"), he decides to launch an album, unaware that it will turn into a viral sensation.
Zach had a girlfriend name, Amy, although, he wasn't happy with his situation and decided to break up with her after realizing that he has to do be comfortable and treats others around him well no matter what he is going through, after he realized that he needs to love someone and let himself be loved too, and, he finally decides to apologize to Amy about his behavior and the two of them get back together, Zach then ask Amy to go to prom with him.
The idea of the lyrics came to Zach when he was in an airplane, on his way returning from a visit to Lourdes in hopes of a miracle following his terminal diagnosis.
Lil Rel Howrey, who is Zach's teacher encourages his class on writing their college application essays, although, at a point in time, Zach refuses to write his college application because he knew he won't make it to that day but after much encouragers, he decides to write the college application that quotes poet Mary Oliver: "Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?"
For others, that quote wasn't much to be considered, but for Zach, the quoet meant so much and it was vital since he knew he had limited time to live. The quote was vital and urgent and he knew he had to do something about his life, he knew he had to make himself and the people around him happy for the little time he has remaining.
Zach then talks to his mother about how his remains and funeral should be handled, suggesting that bagpipes be played. Although the whole family was sad, but they count make every day of Zach's count. They were strong for him and did everything to make him happy and fulfilled for the little time he has to spend with them.
Zach determined to make sure all the little days he had remaining count and he was conscious of leaving the day to the fullest with his friend Sammy and his girlfriend Amy. His close friends and family learn that Zach might not make it to prom, they decide to combine the concert with prom, graduation, and a fundraiser for those suffering from osteosarcoma.
The day for the event arrives and despite Zach's worsening condition, he decides to go perform. Sammy begins the show by performing "How to Go to Confession" before Zach heads out to perform "Clouds".
At the breeks of his performance, Zach's breathing begins to labor, but he never stops singing as he is moved when the entire audience sings the song for him.
Moral Lesson While I was watching this movie, I came up with an article I wrote one of these talking about how we should spend our life meaningful and not wait for the day we realize we will die before we start thinking of what to do.
This movie came to tell us that our life is one and we do not have to wait to fly above the clouds before we decide to keep our lives wild and precious.
Zach's inspiring story is a lesson to teach us that when we start to live as if each day might be our last, we will be amazed at how fulfilled we will become even before death comes our way.
Let us realize that even if life doesn't give us what we always want or expect, it doesn't mean, it is the end of the world, it doesn't mean we shouldn't live life to the fullest and be happy using our talent, gifts, and potentials to make people happy and put smiles on their faces whenever they remember and the memories we left behind when we are gone.
This will bring us to the question, I always ask myself, what will I be remembered for, when I am gone.
