The mood today is going to be a little melancholic. I think my days of watching primarily sad movies or movies that have a tendency to end sadly are over. However, before I reached this phase, I watched more than my fair share of melancholic movies and I’m going to share one of them today. So, fasten your seatbelts if you dig that kind of stuff, and come with me on this ride.
Clouds (2020)
Directed by Justin Baldoni and released by Walt Disney Studios, Clouds is a film based on the true-life story of Zach Sobiech (Fin Argus) who is struggling with Osteosarcoma and receiving medications for it. He has dreams to pursue music and his best friend, Sammy Brown (Sabrina Carpenter) helps him to write music. He also wishes to ask Amy Adamle (Madison Isman) out, but on the day of their picnic, Zach develops coughing fits that send him to the hospital. The doctor from there declares Zach’s ailment as terminal giving him just about six to ten months to live.
Coming to terms with the fact that he is dying, he decides to spend his remaining months pursuing music with his best friend and making the most of all his dreams. Despite the odd circumstances around him, Zach remains strong, and soon enough, unprecedented luck begins to shine on him. But for how long?
First off, this is based on a true life story and you know how those usually go. I remember going to my writing journal after seeing this film and writing. I wrote and wrote for minutes on end, barely seeing due to the huge tears clouding my eyes. I wrote and while I wasn’t sure exactly what I was writing, I took a shower afterward and felt better after it.
This is one of the few "based on a true life story" I’ve personally enjoyed. It had an actual plot and was enjoyable from start to finish. I admired the story of Zach and his best friend and how they strove to maintain their friendship and focus on what really mattered instead of messing things up by indulging their feelings for each other. Maybe that’s not exactly what happened because Zach himself wasn’t there to confirm or deny things, and movies are known to make things messier than how it was in the book. But I’m glad the director didn’t tow that path.
The film, Clouds was based on the memoir by Laura Sobiech, “Fly a Little Higher: How God Answered a Mom's Small Prayer in a Big Way by Laura Sobiech.” I’m guessing the actual memoir may have been religious, but since it’s a Disney production, barely any of that was depicted in the film. Anyway, like I said, unless I’m taken completely unawares, sad movies are more or less behind me. But I think everyone should watch Clouds. It’s a pretty solid film. Hope you enjoy!

A genre that I like a lot, apart from drama and romance, is music and more when it is based on a true story, since, normally, these usually bring a great message of inspiration for viewers. Such is the case of the film Clouds, a movie that certainly touched me a lot, a very touching story that can bring tears to our eyes at all times, from which we can get many messages that can be inspirational for other people who are going through the same process that shows the plot of the production.
Un género que me gusta mucho, aparte del drama y romance, es de música y más cuando se trata basada en una historia real, ya que, normalmente, estas suelen traer un gran mensaje de inspiración para los espectadores. Tal es el caso del filme Clouds, una película que ciertamente me llegó bastante, una historia muy conmovedora que nos puede sacar las lágrimas en todo momento, de la cual podemos sacar muchos mensajes que puede ser de inspiración para otras personas que están pasando por el mismo proceso que nos muestra la trama de la producción.
Clouds is a 2020 film, directed by Justin Baldoni and who also had a great team of screenwriters, composed by Kara Holden, Casey La Scala, Patrick Kopka and Laura Sobiech. With this film they gave us a great story, that beyond entertainment, shows us the difficult moment that a person can face, but in spite of it, he pursues his dream, never gives up until he achieves it, even if at times we want to collapse. The genre of the movie is drama, music and romance, three of my favorite genres, so when I saw it was available, I did not hesitate to watch it and I knew I would not be disappointed.
Clouds es una película de 2020, dirigida por Justin Baldoni y quien además tuvo un gran equipo de guionistas, integrados por Kara Holden, Casey La Scala, Patrick Kopka y Laura Sobiech. Con este filme nos dieron una gran historia, que más allá del entretenimiento, nos muestra el difícil momento que puede afrontar una persona, pero a pesar de ello, persigue su sueño, nunca se rinde hasta lograrlo, más allá que por momentos nos queramos derrumbar. El género de la película es de drama, música y romance, tres de mis géneros favoritos, así que cuando vi que estaba disponible, no dudé en verla y sabía que no me iba a decepcionar.
What is the movie about? It tells the story of Zack, a young man who is sick with osteosarcoma, a type of cancer that is aggressive. Zack in the movie is a very cheerful young man, who has a good vibe and is very well-liked by everyone. After his illness, the boy wants to be cheerful, although we know that inside the person thinks about death, that life is unfair and thinks about why this is happening to him. At times we see how we can fall apart over something like this.
¿De qué trata la película? Nos habla de historia de Zack, un joven quien está enfermo de osteosarcoma, un tipo de cáncer que es agresivo. Zack en la película es un joven bastante alegre, que tiene una buena vibra y que es muy querido por todos. Tras su enfermedad, el chico se quiere mostrar alegre, aunque sabemos que por dentro la persona piensa en la muerte, que la vida es injusta y piensa de porque le está sucediendo eso. Por momentos vemos como nos podemos derrumbar por algo así.
Zack is a young man with a great talent for music, who has all the support of his family, as well as his unconditional friend, Sammy Brown. Sammy also has a great talent for singing and together with Zack they begin to compose music and perform in front of the school, to try to fulfill one of his biggest dreams, which is to be able to sing and more when he knows that he has little time left. For a moment the story can become hopeful, that a miracle happens and Zack is cured of everything, but we know that life is not always as we want, the important thing is to live every second of our lives and more doing what we like the most.
Zack es un joven que tiene mucho talento para la música, que cuenta con todo el apoyo de su familia, además de su incondicional amiga, Sammy Brown. Sammy también tiene un gran talento para cantar y junto a Zack comienzan a componer músicas y a actuar frente a la escuela, para tratar de cumplir uno de sus mayores sueños, que es poder cantar y más cuando sabe que le queda poco tiempo. Por momento la historia puede llegar a ser esperanzadora, que ocurra un milagro y Zack se cure de un todo, pero sabemos que la vida no siempre es como queremos, lo importante es vivir cada segunda de nuestras vidas y más haciendo lo que más nos gusta.
Clouds has a great story, where the main message is that we must live our lives from the first moment, do not wait to know that we are sick or going to die to fulfill the dreams we have. This movie does not usually focus on the drama of the disease, but also the romance, that's where Amy Adamle appears, a girl that Zack was very much in love with and feels a great support at all times. Sammy at the time also confesses his love to her and this I mention to you, because I want to tell you that despite this, he did not get in the way of his friend's relationship, he supported her at all times and was always happy for him. This shows us what a true friendship is. This is one of the things why I loved this movie, a plot that tells us a touching story, that we won't want to miss for a second.
Clouds tiene una gran historia, donde el mensaje principal es que debemos vivir nuestras vidas desde el primer momento, no esperemos saber que estemos enfermos o vayamos a morir para cumplir los sueños que tengamos. Esta película no suele se centra en el drama de la enfermedad, sino que también el romance, allí es donde aparece Amy Adamle, una chica de la cual Zack estaba muy enamorado y que siente un gran apoyo en todo momento. Sammy en su momento también le confiesa su amor y esto se los menciono, ya que les quiero decir que a pesar de ello, no se interpuso en la relación de su amigo, la apoyó en todo momento y siempre estuvo feliz por él. Esto nos demuestra lo que es una verdadera amistad. Esto es una de las cosas por la cual me encantó esta película, una trama que nos cuenta una conmovedora historia, que no vamos a querer perdernos ni un segundo.
The photography was in charge of Ben Kutchins, doing a great job in this section, with very beautiful places and where the story was well represented, but what I really loved about Clouds was the soundtrack. Every music of the emotional moments brought tears to my eyes, but not everything was sad, because we also had our moments of joy. The music sung by Zack and Sammy, is one of the best of the film, very outstanding, so it is one of the strongest points you will see in this movie. Remember that this is a personal opinion according to my experience.
La fotografía estuvo a cargo de Ben Kutchins, haciendo un gran trabajo en este apartado, con sitios muy bonitos y donde la historia quedó bien representada, pero lo que realmente me encantó de Clouds fue la banda sonora. Cada música de los momentos emotivos me sacó lágrimas, pero no todo fue triste, porque también tuvimos nuestros momentos de alegrías. Las músicas que cantaron Zack y Sammy, es de lo mejor de filme, muy sobresaliente, por lo cual es uno de los puntos más fuertes que verás en esta película. Recordar que esta es una opinión personal de acuerdo a mi experiencia.
Regarding the cast of the film, I think the decision of each character was very brilliant. Zack was played by American actor and musician Fin Argus, doing a great job with the character, managing to connect with what he wanted to show us. Madison Iseman played the role of Amy, while Sabrina Carpenter played Sammy being this my second favorite character, who is also a singer just like Fin, so obviously they were going to stand out a lot in the musical themes within the film. We also have other actors and actresses, playing Zack's mother, father, siblings and teacher.
En lo que respecta al cast de la película, creo que la decisión de cada personaje fue muy brillante. Zack fue interpretado por el actor y músico estadounidense Fin Argus, haciendo un gran trabajo con el personaje, logrando conectar con lo que nos quería mostrar. Madison Iseman hizo el papel de Amy, mientras que Sabrina Carpenter hizo de Sammy siendo este mi segundo personaje favorito, quien también es cantante al igual que Fin, por lo que obviamente iban a destacar mucho en los temas musicales dentro del filme. También tenemos otros actores y actrices, haciendo de madre, padre, hermanos y maestro de Zack.
**Opinión final**
Clouds is a good movie, with a great story, a brilliant cast, good scenes and shots, a photography that we can love, but the most remarkable thing we can find is the soundtrack and the excellent music that at every moment we can get tears and laughter, as Zack is a charismatic character where we can go from crying and laughing at any time. The movie may not be perfect, but overall I think it was very good and entertaining, it is the kind of story that I personally like to see. It shows us the reality of life and that we should always fight for our dreams, it's never too late for that. What I liked the most was the final text of Zack's college essay, it was really touching and it teaches us that we should live every moment, no matter what we are going through.
Opinión final
Clouds es una buena película, con una gran historia, un cast brillante, buenas escenas y tomas, una fotografía que nos puede encantar, pero lo más destacable que podemos encontrar es la banda sonora y las excelentes músicas que en cada momento nos pueden sacar las lágrimas y las risas, ya que Zack es un personaje carismático donde podemos pasar del llanto y la risa en cualquier momento. Puede que la película no sea perfecta, pero en general pienso que estuvo muy buena y entretenida, es la clase de historia que en lo personal me gusta ver. Nos muestra la realidad de la vida y que siempre debemos luchar por los sueños, nunca es tarde para ello. De lo que más me gustó fue el texto final del ensayo de Zack para la universidad, la verdad que de lo más emotivo y que nos enseña que debemos vivir cada momento, sin importar por lo que estemos pasando.
The movie may not be perfect, but personally I think it is, all because of my lived experience and I enjoyed every moment of the story, it's scenes, music and much more, which is why I recommend it and for me it is a 10/10.
La película puede que no sea perfecta, pero en lo personal pienso que sí, todo por mi experiencia vivida y que disfrute cada momento de la historia, es escena, músicas y mucho más, por la cual la recomienzo y para mí es un 10/10.

Clouds inicia con xilófono o Lira, no estoy segura, sonido sutil y armonioso, un aire a una canción alegre se siente en lo que inicia, y aunque al conocer la historia detrás de la canción es imposible no sentir algo de tristeza o melancolía, la verdad es que el ritmo de Clouds inmediatamente queda en tu memoria.

Zach Sobiech era un joven genial con mucho talento que hubiese amado tener la oportunidad de hacer lo que hacía mover su alma por un tiempo más largo, pero no pasó así, y supongo que así pasa a veces... amigos, nadie elige el tiempo que tendrá en este mundo para hacer lo que ama, para vivir, o para disfrutar del tiempo, a veces damos la vida por sentado, y damos lo cotidiano por sentado, olvidando que en algún momento, todo puede acabar... eso me trae de regreso la frase que mencioné un momento atrás, "¿tenemos que esperar a que nos digan que estamos muriendo para querer comenzar a vivir?"

Es una frase un poco dura, pero esta película logró cambiar un poco mi perspectiva de ver el mundo y la vida, porque cada día creemos que somos invencibles y no en la forma de ser como algún superhéroe, pero cada día tenemos la certeza de que estaremos vivos mañana cuando la realidad es que la certeza es un sentimiento y no un hecho, no sabemos que pasará mañana y aún así pensamos que tenemos todo el tiempo del mundo, vivimos preocupamos por cosas no tan importantes cuando la vida literalmente solo nos pide que vivamos, que disfrutemos que seamos felices, no solo que estemos en un modo continuo de supervivencia.
It is a somewhat harsh phrase, but this film managed to change my perspective of seeing the world and life a little, because every day we believe that we are invincible and not in the way of being like some superhero, but every day we are certain that we will be alive tomorrow when the reality is that certainty is a feeling and not a fact, we don't know what will happen tomorrow and yet we think we have all the time in the world, we live worrying about not so important things when life literally only asks us to let's live, let's enjoy let's be happy, not just that we're in continuous survival mode.

Amigos yo personalmente cuando comenzó la película quería llorar cada 5 minutos porque la película es tan buena que te hace conectarte desde los primeros minutos con los personajes y eso por lo menos yo creo que hace que una película sea buena.
Friends, personally, when the movie started I wanted to cry every 5 minutes because the movie is so good that it makes you connect with the characters from the first minutes and that at least I think makes a movie good.
En la película actúa Sabrina Carpenter si no saben quién es ella es una de las protagonistas del mundo de Riley, tenemos un post sobre esa serie así que también pueden leerlo si gustan. Pero volviendo al tema de esta película, su actuación fue magnífica y no solo la de ella, siento que las actuaciones de todo el elenco fueron muy increíbles y profesionales, sus expresiones los diálogos y la naturalidad en su actuación sencillamente te conecta todas las emociones y te hace tener todos los sentimientos a flor de piel.
Sabrina Carpenter stars in the movie if you don't know who she is, she is one of the protagonists of Riley's world, we have a post about that series so you can also read it if you like. But going back to the subject of this movie, her performance was magnificent and not only hers, I feel that the performances of the entire cast were very incredible and professional, their expressions, dialogues and naturalness in their performance simply connects all the emotions and It makes you have all the feelings on the surface.

Zach and his friend Sammy have a dream, to make music. Les cuento muy por encima de la película porque de verdad que cada detalle merece ser visto y no spoileado/ I tell you very much about the movie because really every detail deserves to be seen and not spoiled.
Amigos, si ustedes son sensibles como yo seguramente van a llorar porque está película te mueve el corazón y el sistema, te hace darte cuenta de que siempre estamos esperando que las cosas se solucionen de un día al otro para empezar a vivir, siempre estamos esperando que un día todas nuestras preocupaciones se vayan para empezar a ser felices y eso es mentira, es muy poco probable que los problemas desaparezcan de la noche a la mañana, nosotros mismos tenemos la responsabilidad de ser felices de vivir cada segundo como si fuera el último, tenemos la responsabilidad de disfrutar nuestra vida y resolver las cosas que están en nuestro control, porque a veces dejar de querer el control y dejar de querer que todo sea perfecto es lo más sano. Todos tenemos batallas, muchos con enfermedades, problemas personales y demás, ninguna vida es perfecta pero lo único de lo que tenemos el control es de lo que podemos manejar y eso es nuestro día a día, no podemos cambiar el pasado y no podemos ver el futuro, solo podemos estar en el presente en el aquí y en el ahora y disfrutarlo, porque no tenemos que esperar el día de nos digan que tenemos poco tiempo de vida para poder intentar vivir.
Friends, if you are sensitive like me, you are surely going to cry because this movie moves your heart and your system, it makes you realize that we are always waiting for things to be resolved from one day to the next to start living, we are always waiting that one day all our worries go away to start being happy and that is a lie, it is very unlikely that problems will disappear overnight, we ourselves have the responsibility to be happy to live every second as if it were the last , we have the responsibility to enjoy our life and solve the things that are in our control, because sometimes to stop wanting control and stop wanting everything to be perfect is the healthiest thing to do. We all have battles, many with illnesses, personal problems and others, no life is perfect but the only thing we have control over is what we can handle and that is our day to day life, we cannot change the past and we cannot see the future, we can only be in the present in the here and now and enjoy it, because we don't have to wait for the day when we are told that we have little time to live before we can try to live.
Está película siento que se merece un 100/10 por dos cosas 1) es basada en una historia real y 2) es una película con gran enseñanza, se las recomiendo con los ojos cerrados y espero que todos puedan verla.
I feel that this movie deserves a 100/10 for two things 1) it is based on a true story and 2) it is a movie with great teaching, I recommend it with my eyes closed and I hope everyone can see it.
