The Plot
A high-school basketball coach John Harrison is asked to take over a cross country sport he doesn't even like, realizing that his team won't be participating in the won't as planned for the season because their town's largest manufacturing plant shuts down unexpectedly and hundreds of parents are moving away withdrawing their kids out of the school, John reluctantly agrees to coach cross-country sport realizing there was nothing else for him to do. He finds out just one student was going for the sport and the teen happens to be an asthmatic patient, Hannah Scott.
He doesn't know what to do but got inspired by a blind patient who he accidentally met in the hospital on his visit to an old friend after having an encounter with Thomas Hill who also happens to be an old cross country runner
He finds out Hannah was rare talent although asthmatic but pushes herself to the limit, his thoughts about the whole situation soon change as he was inspired by the words and prayers of Thomas. He starts to train Hannah for the biggest race of her young life.
Life changes for the coach and his family as he drew closer to God with the help of his newfound friend Thomas. John finds out Hannah was Thomas's daughter in one of his visits to Thomas when he was talking about his life and skims a way out for daughter and father to meet.
This resulted in Hannah's grandmother Barbara Scott coming to warn John Harrison and his wife Amy Harrison to stay away from her family business. The Harrison's had no option to pray to God and ask for his leading and help them touch the heart of Hannah's grandmother
The day for the final competition came and Hannah was given an ear aid to use which will aid her while running to reduce getting an attack on the way. She was coached by her father who happens to be in the hospital and almost at the end, Hannah gets an attack and couldn't go further but luckily since she was the first runner, the award was given to her as the best runner-up.
Hannah's father was later buried after spending a little time with his daughter who he once abandoned with her grandmother due to his reckless life while he was still a young teen.
It's been a while, I shed tears while watching a movie. The movie is centered around faith in God, belief in who we are and who created us, and forgiveness.
It is centered around determination to be who we wang to be regardless of our challenges in life.
Although I did not understand the part where Thomas, Hannah's father was able to guide Hannah through the road but I guess it was cool while I tried to figure out how he did that.
