That a question that was constantly raised some years ago in some TV channels like NatGeo or Discovery Channel, because according to these programs, some exceptional people in the world developed unique skills that put them to another level, and according to certain "Experts" these exceptional people use 100% of their brain very different from the rest of the people who only use 10%, and watching this kind of programs you can be filled with doubts about whether we all work with only 10% of our brain capacity.

Of course, this is influenced by many factors such as people creating strange theories or dubious comments, also study of the human brain is a field where science has not yet been able to study or rather fully understand, since this is a very large area that is just being discovered, and finally we have the curiosity for the unknown that is very natural in humans.

So these two factors plus the lack of information and the conspiracy theories of the internet that create crazy reasoning that gives rise to create movies like Lucy that put on the table theories like What would happen if a drug or substance would give you access to 100% of your brain capacity?

But contrary to what the movies or the internet show us, the human being does use 100% of his brain without the need to take drugs or ingest supposedly miraculous substances, since it has been demonstrated according to science and specialized studies that activities such as motor movements, talking, thinking, digesting, breathing, etc., consume several areas of our brain processing. Consume several processing areas of our brain, that if we used only 10% as many say, we would be like vegetables in a bed just breathing.

But since we love to be entertained with movies that show us alternate realities, I want to review Limitless a science fiction movie that presents a reality where a drug unleashes all the brain capacity, leading those who take it to do incredible or superhuman things. Limitless was released in 2011 and is directed by Neil Burger famous for directing films such as The Illusionist and Divergent. Limitless also features great actors such as Bradley Cooper, Abbie Cornish, and Robert De Niro.

Plot

Limitless tells the life story of Eddie Morra, a world-class loser who aspires to make it big as a book writer but can't concentrate on anything and because of that he has lost many opportunities for work and love, but everything changes in Eddie's life when his ex-brother-in-law introduces him to a new and wonderful drug NZT that can help him achieve things never seen before as it will use all his cognitive power.

When Eddie tries this revolutionary drug he realizes that his life is a disaster and does things he never thought he would do, like finishing a book in a few days, winning thousands of dollars conquering Wall Street, getting the love of his life back, surrounding himself with successful people, among many other things. But everything starts to go wrong when he discovers the side effects of this drug as his health deteriorates and creates abstinence to NZT and the problems that come to him as it is a drug very desired by everyone in addition to certain problems with the police and the mafia.

What attracts me most about Limitless is that it connects with reality to a higher degree, as they show you that using drugs in the long run results in many disadvantages, for example, those who used NZT and stopped using it like Eddie's ex-wife and millionaire Atwood deteriorated when they couldn't use anymore, something that is very much linked to the reality of what you see around us.

Also, the fact that they wanted to explore the greatest power of the human being is another point in favor of this movie, since we all can do incredible things as well as Eddie does. For example in one scene of the movie, Eddie sees only the tip of a law book but with the help of NZT he remembers very well everything he read from that book, also Eddie mentions that he can learn a language just by hearing it, but this is not fiction, since the human being has that ability and can learn easily, especially a new and fresh brain like an infant.

Finally, another thing I liked was the fact that they used scenes of Bruce Lee to show what NZT can do for you when you are in trouble since Eddie could remember everything he saw as a child on TV and beat up those who were looking for a fight.

Negative points of this movie, I could not find, it is a very well constructed and designed movie, it does not leave blind spots or unfinished ideas. Something that disappointed me was that they didn't continue Eddie's story, since there was material to make a sequel. And although they launched a TV series, the truth is that I feel that the series did not achieve its goal because it covers other themes that are a little far from the original film, and also the main character is not Eddie. In the series, it happened like the Fast and Furious spin-off of the Rock and Jason, which has nothing to do with the original movie and looks like a world of fantasy and superpowers.

In conclusion, Limitless is an amazing movie to enjoy a sci-fi moment, plus it explores a topic that we all would like to know or do because if I had that brain capacity for sure I was already a whole whale on Hive in leofinance or proofofbrain. It also has funny moments and moments of extreme tension and action. And although the human being does use 100%, still no one does everything that Eddie did in the movie, that's why it's very entertaining to watch this movie.

¿Que harías con el 100% de tu cerebro?

Esa una pregunta que constantemente se planteaba hace algunos años en algunos canales de televisión como Natgeo o Discovery Channel, ya que según estos programas, habían algunas personas excepcionales en el mundo que desarrollaban habilidades únicas que los ponían a otro nivel, y según ciertos "Expertos" estas personas excepcionales usan el 100% de su cerebro muy diferente del resto de las personas que solo usan el 10%, y al ver este tipo de programas te puedes llenar de dudas sobre si realmente todos funcionamos con solo el 10% de nuestra capacidad cerebral.

Claro, en esto influyen muchos factores como que las personas creen teorías extrañas o comentarios dudosos, También el estudio del cerebro humano es un campo donde la ciencia aún no ha podido estudiar o más bien entender totalmente, ya que esta es un área muy extensa que apenas se está descubriendo, y por ultimo tenemos la curiosidad por lo desconocido que es muy natural en el ser humano.

Así que estos dos factores más la falta de información y las teorías conspirativas de internet que crean razonamientos locos que dan pie para crear películas como Lucy que ponen en la mesa teorías como: ¿Que pasaría si una droga o sustancia te diera acceso al 100% de tu capacidad cerebral?

Pero contrario a lo que el cine o el internet nos muestran, el ser humano si usa el 100% de su cerebro sin la necesidad de drogarse o ingerir sustancias supuestamente milagrosas, ya que está demostrado según la ciencia y estudios especializados que actividades como movimientos motores, hablar, pensar, digerir, respirar, etc.. Consumen diversas áreas de procesamiento de nuestro cerebro, que si usáramos nada más el 10% como muchos dicen, estuviéramos como vegetales en una cama solamente respirando.

Pero como nos encanta entretenernos con películas que nos muestran realidades alternas, quiero hacer una reseña de Limitless una película de ciencia ficción que nos presenta una realidad donde una droga desata toda la capacidad cerebral, llevando a quien la toma a hacer cosas increíbles o sobrehumanas. Limitless estrada en el 2011 y que está dirigida por Neil Burger famoso por dirigir películas como El ilusionista y divergente. Además Limitless cuenta con la actuación de grandes actores como Bradley Cooper, Abbie Cornish y Robert De Niro.

Argumento

Limitless cuenta la vida de Eddie Morra, un perdedor de clase mundial que aspira llegar alto siendo escritor de libros pero que no puede concentrarse en nada y por eso ha perdido muchas oportunidades de trabajo y de amor, pero todo cambia en la vida de Eddie cuando su excuñado le presenta una nueva y maravillosa droga el NZT que lo puede ayudar a lograr cosas nunca antes vistas ya que usara todo su poder cognitivo.

Cuando Eddie prueba esta droga revolucionaria se da cuenta de que su vida es un desastre y hace cosas que nunca pensó que haría, como terminar un libro en pocos días, ganar miles de dólares conquistando Wall Street, recuperando al amor de su vida, rodearse de personas exitosas, entre muchas cosas más. Pero todo comienza a ir mal cuando descubre los efectos secundarios de esta droga ya que su salud se deteriora y crea una abstinencia al NZT y los problemas que le vienen ya que es una droga muy deseada por todos además de ciertos problemas con la policía y la mafia.

Lo que más me atrae de Limitless es que se conecta con la realidad a un grado superior, ya que te muestran que usar drogas a la larga te resulta en muchas desventajas, por ejemplo los que usaban NZT y dejaron de usarla como la ex esposa de Eddie y el millonario Atwood se deterioraron cuando ya no pudieron consumir más, algo que está muy ligado con la realidad de lo que se ve a nuestro alrededor.

Además, el hecho de que quisieran explorar el poder más grande del ser humano es otro punto a favor de esta película, ya que todos tenemos la capacidad de hacer cosas increíbles así como las hace Eddie. Por ejemplo en una escena de la película, Eddie ve solo la punta de un libro de leyes pero con la ayuda del NZT recuerda muy bien todo lo que leyó de ese libro, además Eddie menciona que él puede aprender un idioma con solo oírlo, pero esto no es ficción, ya que el ser humano tiene esa capacidad y puede aprender con facilidad, sobre todo un cerebro nuevo y fresco como el de un infante.

Por último, otra cosa que me gusto fue el hecho de que usaran escenas de bruce lee para mostrar lo que el NZT puede hacer por ti cuando estas en problemas, ya que Eddie pudo recordar todo lo que vio cuando era niño en la televisión y le día una paliza a quienes le buscaban pelea.

Puntos negativos de esta película, no pude encontrar, es una película muy bien construida y diseñada, además no deja puntos ciegos ni ideas sin terminar. Algo que si me decepciono fue que no continuaran la Historia de Eddie, ya que había material para hacer una secuela. Y aunque lanzaron una serie de televisión, la verdad siento que esa serie no logro su objetivo ya que abarca otros temas que se alejan un poco de la película original y además el personaje principal no es Eddie. En la serie paso como el Spin-off de rápido y furioso de la roca y Jasón, que no tiene nada que ver con la película original y parece un mundo de fantasía y súper poderes.

En conculcación, Limitless es una película increíble para disfrutar un momento de ciencia ficción, además que explora un tema que a todos nos gustaría saber o hacer, ya que si yo tuviera esa capacidad cerebral de segura ya era toda una ballena en Hive en leofinance o proofofbrain. Además tiene momentos divertidos y momentos de tensión extrema y acción. Y aunque el ser humano si usa el 100%, aun ninguno hace todo lo que hizo Eddie en la película, por eso es muy entretenido ver esta película.
