Karen Allen is the brilliant actress who delighted us with her portrayal of Marion Ravenwood in "Raiders of the Lost Ark".
Marion, inspired by classic adventure film heroines, was indeed an independent and non-submissive character.
Now let's talk about Indiana Jones. Apparently, Lucas and Spielberg didn't want him to be tied down to any long-term relationship, like a commitment-phobic James Bond with a new adventure in every instalment.
So they decided to create a tense, conflict-filled relationship between Marion and Indy.
Their reunion begins with a line that is apparently controversial today: "In the last ten years, I've learned to hate you. I was a child. I was in love. It was wrong, and you knew it".
It seems even Indy has some explaining to do. Some have suggested that Indiana Jones is some sort of "young girl molester".
But fear not, Karen Allen was quick to come to Indy's defence, arguing that we don't really know what happened in the past and that the circumstances might have been different.
She also reminds us that these characters are fictional and the situations are dictated by the script. v
