Ya que la semana pasada hice la primera publicación y me gustó mucho escribir reseñas sobre aquellas series y películas que me han parecido interesantes, además que le dará un poco de variedad al contenido que siempre publico en esta plataforma.
Hoy les hablaré sobre la serie Anne with an E.

Ana de las tejas verdes Anne of Green Gables es un libro escrito por Lucy M. Montgomery en el año 1908 y a partir de esté, la autora creo una serie de libros basada en la misma protagonista. Estos libros han sido adaptados a diferentes musicales, series, películas, incluso series animadas a lo largo de los años. La más reciente es la serie Canadiense adaptada este libro y producida por CBC en colaboración con Netflix: “Anne with an E” o en español “Anne con una E”.
Esta serie se estrenó en el año 2017, incluyendo en su elenco a nuestra protagonista Amybeth McNulty (Anne), Lucas Jade Zumann (Gilbert Blythe), Geraldine James (Marilla Cuthbert), Dalila Bela (Diana Barry), entre otros.
Anne of Green Gables is a book written by Lucy M. Montgomery in 1908 and from this, the author created a series of books based on the same protagonist. ¿De qué trata la serie?
Está ambientada a finales del siglo XIX (19), en un pueblo llamado Avonlea situado en la Isla del príncipe Eduardo, a donde llega Anne Shirley una niña huérfana que por error es adoptada por los hermanos Cuthbert.
Desde el primer capítulo Anne muestra su gran y diferente personalidad, una niña con mucha imaginación, muy inteligente, con mucho interés en las palabras y las historias lo que la hace ser muy parlanchina, que a pesar de haber tenido una infancia muy difícil viviendo en el orfanato y hogares temporales, no dejaba de ver lo bueno de la vida y el cómo ayudar a otros. rasgos que hacen convencer a quienes la adoptaron de quedarse con ella.
Es aquí donde empieza su vida en este pueblo, desenvolviéndose en una sociedad marcada por el racismo y machismo, intentando buscar la aceptación de muchos que en primera instancia la ven como menos que una persona y solo es catalogada como una “huérfana”.
What is the series about?
It is set in the late nineteenth century (19), in a village called Avonlea located in Prince Edward Island, where Anne Shirley arrives as an orphan girl who is adopted by mistake by the Cuthbert brothers. Las enseñanzas que nos deja esta historia
Una de las cosas que nos enseña la serie es a nunca dejar de soñar, sin importar lo que los demás diga, Anne soñaba en grande, desde niña deseaba tener una familia y obtuvo la más amorosa posible, por otro lado ella nos enseña el que ser diferente está bien, no importa nuestro aspecto físico u orígenes.
Esta serie trata temas que no eran tomados de gran importancia pero que eran muy comunes en la época en la que se desarrolla la historia como el bullying el racismo o el machismo.
El racismo lo podemos ver en la historia de Bash, un hombre afrodescendiente que se encuentra con racismo en todos los lugares a los que va, pero que la vida lo hace coincidir con Gilbert un joven muy justo, quien lo lleva a Avonlea y es aquí donde encuentra el propósito en su vida y por su puesto el amor, a pesar de los prejuicios iniciales y desagrado de parte los habitantes del pueblo. No obstante vemos como estos prejuicios van desapareciendo de parte de muchos que lo conocen.
El feminismo, un tema que se trata a lo largo de la serie, sobre todo por las actitudes y frases dichas por nuestra Anne que es una gran representante de las mujeres, un ejemplo de ello es cuando en la última temporada intenta defender a su compañera Josie Pye de un reciente conflicto que tuvo con su pretendiente Billy el cual intentó propasar sus intenciones y ella fue la que salió perjudicada. Anne hizo un artículo en el periódico escolar cuyo resultado no fue el mejor ante los demás pero el mensaje fue muy fuerte y realista, en este artículo decía “Las mujeres importan por lo que son, no en relación a un hombre. Merecemos el derecho a la autonomía corporal y a ser tratadas con respecto y dignidad. Decir ‘detente’ y que nos escuchen, en lugar de forzarnos y decir que un hombre sabe más sobre nuestros derechos básicos y deseos que nosotras… Los hombres no completan a las mujeres, ellas nacen completas”.
Lessons learned from this story
One of the things that the series teaches us is to never stop dreaming, no matter what others say, Anne dreamed big, since she was a child she wanted to have a family and she got the most loving one possible, on the other hand she teaches us that being different is okay, no matter our physical appearance or origins.
This series deals with issues that were not taken of great importance but were very common at the time in which the story takes place, such as bullying, racism and sexism. Racism can be seen in the story of Bash, a man of African descent who encounters racism everywhere he goes, but life makes him meet Gilbert, a very fair young man, who takes him to Avonlea and it is here where he finds purpose in his life and of course love, despite the initial prejudices and dislike of the villagers. However, we see how these prejudices are disappearing on the part of many who know him.
Feminism, a theme that is addressed throughout the series, especially by the attitudes and phrases said by our Anne who is a great representative of women, an example of this is when in the last season she tries to defend her partner Josie Pye from a recent conflict she had with her suitor Billy who tried to propass her intentions and she was the one who got hurt. Anne did an article in the school newspaper which was not the best in the eyes of others but the message was very strong and realistic, in this article she said "Women matter because of who they are, not in relation to a man. We deserve the right to bodily autonomy and to be treated with respect and dignity. To say 'stop' and be heard, instead of being forced and told that a man knows more about our basic rights and desires than we do... Men do not complete women, they are born complete."
¿Debía ser cancelada?
Creo que la respuesta a esta pregunta por parte de la mayoría de seguidores de ella es que NO, ya que es una serie muy querida a la cual no se le dio la publicidad suficiente que merecía, incluso esta serie tuvo mucha más fama luego del anuncio de que iba a ser cancelada y que solo iba a contar con tres temporadas; Es allí cuando los fans reaccionaron ante tal noticia y empezó la recaudación de firmas en petición de revivir la serie (la cual llego a más del millón de firmas para el 2021). Y es entonces cuando más personas se enteran de esta serie (incluyéndome).
No obstante, la razón de la cancelación de la serie fue por una ruptura de relaciones entre CBC (Canal de televisión pública Canadiense) y Netflix por lo que es casi imposible que haya una cuarta temporada la cual resolvería algunas incógnitas, la más triste es el incierto destino Ka’kwet, la gran amiga de Anne, quien es una niña de su edad perteneciente a la comunidad indígena de Canadá, quien es llevada a una escuela “civilizada” que termino siendo una pesadilla, por ser un lugar controlado por monjas y sacerdotes que maltrataban física y verbalmente a estos niños por ser de una cultura diferente.

Mi conclusión
Esta es una serie de calidad en cuanto a lo estético y la narrativa, que a mi parecer está un poco infravalorada, ya que debemos recalcar el buen trabajo de la producción, seguida por la actuación de todos sus personajes acompañada de los bellos paisajes que nos muestra en el transcurso de toda la serie. Se las recomiendo mucho si desean ver una serie buena y que sea apta para toda la familia, que te deje con enseñanzas y un lindo recuerdo de una historia que vale la pena.
My conclusion
This is a quality series in terms of aesthetics and narrative, which in my opinion is a little underrated, as we must emphasize the good work of production, followed by the performance of all its characters accompanied by the beautiful scenery that shows us in the course of the entire series. I highly recommend it if you want to see a good series and that is suitable for the whole family, that leaves you with lessons and a nice memory of a worthwhile story.
