Este largometraje de Disney logra cautivarte con personajes elocuentes y un conflicto que resulta entretenido en todos los sentidos. Miramos un boceto de la cultura occidental, esta vez sumergida en una guerra que de alguna manera nos recuerda nuestros tiempos. El poder, la avaricia y la indiferencia sostienen la premisa que mueve el universo de Raya y Sisu, dos amigas que comparten objetivos en común. Aquí el arma más poderosa no es un orbe o la magia de un dragón, porque es la confianza la que supone el tesoro más grande para vencer a la oscuridad.

This Disney feature film manages to captivate you with eloquent characters and a conflict that is entertaining in every way. We look at a sketch of Western culture, this time immersed in a war that somehow reminds us of our times. Power, greed and indifference support the premise that moves the universe of Raya and Sisu, two friends who share common goals. Here the most powerful weapon is not an orb or the magic of a dragon, because it is trust that is the greatest treasure to defeat the darkness.
La historia sigue la aventura entre una chica y una criatura mágica de alas y buen sentido del humor. Raya, descendiente del clan Heart, fue elegida para proteger una gema indispensable para evitar que los temibles Drunn regresen a causar estragos. Tras quinientos años de guerra, la tierra de Kumandra se ha dividido en 5 tribus que anhelan el poder del orbe para imponer fuerza sobre sus enemigos. Cuando el poder de esta joya cae en manos equivocadas, Raya deberá buscar al único ser que puede ayudarla: un dragón llamado Sisu. En un viaje de poderes, enemigos, secretos y muchos Drunn, Raya deberá comprender que la única manera de revivir a sus seres queridos es confiando en la que alguna vez consideró como su peor enemiga.
Disney nos vuelve a deleitar, esta vez de la mano de Don Hall y Carlos Estrada López. Esta historia, a pesar de recurrir al típico escenario de la aventura y el crecimiento personal que esta conlleva, nos muestra un escenario que nunca pasará de moda: la guerra. A veces perdemos el juicio por el poder, y solo nos importa engrandecernos obviando todo lo demás. Raya y el último dragón intentan dar un mensaje sobre el significado de la paz en cada dialogo y escena. En algún momento hay que hacer las paces con nuestros enemigos, porque al fin y al cabo nuestras diferencias no son una causa para los conflictos, sino más bien para el entendimiento y la tolerancia. Las tribus de Kumandra son esa representación a una guerra por meros intereses, casi absurda, en la que una nación antes unida se quiebra con fronteras. Raya busca cambiar esto, sin embargo, en el proceso se da cuenta de que nunca tuvo una intención verdadera de hacerlo.
The story follows the adventure between a girl and a magical creature with wings and a good sense of humor. After five hundred years of war, the land of Kumandra has been divided into 5 tribes that yearn for the power of the orb to impose force on their enemies. When the power of this jewel falls into the wrong hands, Raya must search for the only being who can help her: a dragon named Sisu. On a journey of powers, enemies, secrets, and many Drunn, Raya must understand that the only way to revive her loved ones is by trusting in what she once considered her worst enemy.
Disney delights us again, this time with Don Hall and Carlos Estrada López. This story, despite resorting to the typical scenario of adventure and the personal growth that it entails, shows us a scenario that will never go out of style: war. Sometimes we lose our judgment for power, and we only care to magnify ourselves by ignoring everything else. Raya and the last dragon try to give a message about the meaning of peace in every dialogue and scene. At some point you have to make peace with our enemies, because after all our differences are not a cause for conflict, but rather for understanding and tolerance. The Kumandra tribes are that representation of a war for mere interests, almost absurd, in which a previously united nation breaks with borders. Raya seeks to change this, however, in the process she realizes that she never had a true intention to do so.
¿Cómo confiar en nuestros enemigos cuanto tanto mal nos han hecho? Raya es quizás una sutil referencia a ese aspecto dudoso que llevamos en el interior, esa vocecita que nos impide estrechar la mano porque estamos inseguros del resultado que traerá nuestra decisión. La confianza es de alguna forma esa esperanza que ponemos en alguien con toda nuestra fe y seguridad. Sisu lo comprendió, incluso se puso de ejemplo ante una Raya que no desistía de su rabia y dolor. Las escenas nos la muestran siempre insegura incluso hasta de ella misma, algo relacionado a esa traición que sufrió de la mano de su peor enemiga. A partir de ese momento, ella deja de creer en lo que otros le dicen y le aseguran porque piensa que será traicionada en cualquier momento, por lo que todos ante ella son sus posibles enemigos.
La animación es sin duda hermosa a la vista. Los colores funden en una manera mágica resaltando con detalle paisajes llamativos y por supuesto, los gestos y las expresiones de los personajes. Cada fotograma está bien planteado, por así decirlo, algo que Don Hall y Carlos Estrada maximizan para brindar al espectador una experiencia gratificante. Es una historia para la familia completa con un mensaje que no solo busca conmover a los niños, sino que además también se orienta a hacer reflexionar a los adultos. Puede que la idea detrás de Raya y el último Dragón sea algo repetitiva, sin embargo, la manera en que se transmite esta película animada es única y por demás de emocionante.
How can we trust our enemies when they have done us so much harm? Raya is perhaps a subtle reference to that doubtful aspect that we carry inside, that little voice that prevents us from shaking hands because we are unsure of the result that our decision will bring. Trust is in some way that hope that we put in someone with all our faith and security. Sisu understood, he even set an example before a Ray that did not give up on her anger and pain. The scenes of her show us always insecure even of herself, something related to that betrayal that she suffered at the hand of her worst enemy. From that moment on, she stops believing in what others tell her and assure him of her because she thinks that she will be betrayed at any moment, so everyone before her are her possible enemies.
The animation is certainly beautiful to look at. The colors melt in a magical way, highlighting in detail striking landscapes and of course, the gestures and expressions of the characters. Each frame is well posed, so to speak, something that Don Hall and Carlos Estrada maximize to provide the viewer with a rewarding experience. It is a story for the family complete with a message that not only seeks to move children, but also aims to make adults reflect. The idea behind Raya and the Last Dragon may be a bit repetitive, however, the way this animated film is delivered is unique and beyond exciting.

En esta historia hallarás magia, aventura, dragones, monstruos que convierten en piedra a la gente y algunos niños que roban en compañía de monos. Es una película animada con la que reirás, llorarás y suspirarás. Además aprenderás el valor de la confianza y entenderás porqué debemos sepultar las traiciones que hemos sufrido. Al final de cuenta lo más importante es la unión y la paz que ella conlleva. La lección de Raya y su amigo Sisu es que debemos considerar el perdón para realmente ganarle a la oscuridad.
