Hello movie lovers! What are you watching lately? Got any recommendations? 😎

Today I'm back with another movie/series review after three weeks since my last one, and I can't wait to share this one as I've watched it twice already and I had a blast both of the times!

Of course, after such a long break from writing a movie/series review, a lot of things I want to write about have been added on my list, but there is no better way to get back in business other than sharing a review for a comedy series that features Rowan Atkinson, known as Mr. Bean. It's funny that most of the people know this actor a lot from his performances as Mr. Bean and therefore they call him on this name instead of his real one (like I do, lol), but it's hard to get used with someone's real name when you've been watching his performances for years and got used to associate his face with Mr. Bean.

Anyway, let's step a little bit aside from Mr. Bean and see what Netflix brought to us!

Introduction

Man vs. Bee it's a British miniseries written and created by Rowan Atkinson and William Davies, that was released at the end of June and it comes with 9 short episodes, each one of them having around 10 minutes. However, they can be easily considered a movie and watched entirely without taking a break from the comedy actor everybody loves.

After a break of four years since his last acting in Johnny English Strikes Again, Rowan Atkinson returned with an almost silent comedy miniseries which shows that when you are good at something it's enough to impress without sharing too many words. While everyone knows the popular titles such as Batman vs. Superman, Godzilla vs. Kong and Kramer vs. Kramer, Man vs Bee is nothing else but just another serious fight between two characters, as its name suggests. And who doesn't love a silly comedy to keep himself distracted from real life?

Though, some less known aspects about the miniseries are that Rowan Atkinson not only that wrote the script and acting, but he also got involved in arranging the background, the lighting, the angles, the garderobe, and a lot more, everything being thought down to the smallest detail.

In plus, the whole story is based on a real experience while he was in a car with his grandfather that had a fight with a bee while driving and trying to get it outside the vehicle, but which ended up with a crash. Fortunately, both the old man and the bee were okay, but it's funny how far some experiences can go.

Description

The first episode starts with no one else but Rowan Atkinson as Trevor Bingley living his first day at his new job after he was hired by a house-sitting company which basically sends out employees to take care of wealthy family's houses while they are away for a few days.

Even from the first steps made in the garden the man starts being chased by the bee which makes him share a first set of good jokes while trying to speak with one of the houses' owners, Jing Lusi as Nina Kolstad-Bergenbatten and his partner, Julian Rhind-Tutt, that perhaps many of you will recognize as Giltine from The Witcher series.

Anyway, while everything seems quite easy having a manual with all the codes that are opening up the doors, because we are talking about a high-tech house with years from historical battles as the codes to unlock these, the things are far from being that simple.

Another drop of entertainment is added by all the shelves from the kitchen and even the water tap that can be opened/turned on with hand gestures, but which of course, are also going to be found in the holy manual.

Even if the first conversation with the owners of the house didn't go too well making the woman show her concerns while she expected to see a more qualified person for this job, there is no chance to postpone their vacation and they decide to leave, letting Rowan Atkinson take care of their house that is full of expensive pieces of art and cars, but also of their dog which needs some special attention as well.

From the simple thought that nothing can go wrong when you have answers to all the questions you might have in a manual, to the thing that you might return home and don't find much left from the wealthy house, everything seems like a big nightmare but yet so far from reality. Though, just as its name says, there is going to be a fight between a man and a bee, so it's our mission to see who's going to be the winner at the end of the day.

Opinions

Even though there are a lot of scenes from this miniseries popping up in my mind that I'd like to write about, I think it's better to keep it as minimal as possible to not break someone's fun because we all know that no matter how funny a scene is, it's not that amusing anymore when you know what's coming up next. But even though you are one of the people who grew up watching Mr. Bean or not, Man vs. Bee is definitely a must-see.

Honestly, I got used seeing Rowan Atkinson act more by on his own rather than having a big team of actors around him, so I'm really happy to see this brand new miniseries presenting him in his own glory which shows once again how talented he is and that he's always going beyond limits to arrange everything to the smallest detail and be closer to perfection.

Just as I mentioned at the beginning of this post, I managed to see the miniseries for two times already and I'm seriously thinking to rewatch it either with my family or when I meet my friends, but I see no reason to not watch it while it can easily get you out of any sad or grumpy mood you might have, lol. Conclusions

Perhaps anyone out there had at least one experience taking a fight way too far with either a bee, mosquito or housefly, but sometimes the little creatures do have the power to turn a common life into a living hell. And this is exactly what happens in Man vs. Bee.

When it comes to Rowan Atkinson, I think it's pretty easy to already anticipate that a little silly chaos will be born from literally, anything, but even when you have this intuition, it's still hard to predict what's coming up next, which is a pretty good reason to consider a movie/series a good one that was worth your time.

And last but not least, Man vs. Bee comes with a subtle lesson which shows that not everything you see someone have means that it was earned with big efforts because there are endless possibilities found by people to make a little fortune from without too much work, so living a simple but honest life will always be better at the end of the day.

Have you seen "Man vs. Bee"?

And if so, what episode was your favourite? Did you expect everything to get that far? πŸ˜‚

I watched it recently and Rowan Atkinson is so successful that he always makes you cringe when you watch him, be it Mr Bean or Man Vs Bee. I just wanted to shout at him all the time because he is so stupid!!!

    Great film, and review

We binge-watched this about 2 weeks ago and the whole fam loved it. Rowan Atkinson will always be Mr. Bean to me, and for some reason I always find a hint of "Mr. Bean" in most of his works I've seen. Well I guess that's his brand, and I love it.

Hi! I have all the chapters of the series and I'm waiting to have just a little bit of time to watch it marathon mode. I have already read several reviews and seeing that you are willing to repeat it almost for the third time motivates me even more to watch it. I always call him Br. Bean too and am a super fan of his show and his way of acting.
