The story of Pride and Prejudice has an infallible formula for love. Two characters from distant worlds develop a relationship of hate that walks towards becoming love. It doesn't matter how many times we see it, we adore the transformation from hate to love in couples. Thus, Bridgeton is a series that knows how to exploit this old trick for us to ship their characters together. It did it on season one, and it happened again on season two; with plot twists included obviously. The followings are my insights on the second season of this old-fashioned, colorfully, and gossipy tv show.

My biggest inquiry for this season was to know more about the one and only, lady Whistledown. I was not disappointed at all. Season one ends with Penelope Featherington being revealed as this gossip girl version of old London, but not more details were provided. Not only this season gives more about it, but it also places the focus on Penelope who is an underappreciated character in my opinion. I honestly root for her, even when she makes hard choices and is still undervalued in her society. I find so admirable how it all came from that little girl, and of course I am mad she is not seen by her crush!

Being rewarded by this knowledge, the rest was to enjoy how love and hate played together in the characters of Lord Bridgerton and miss Sharma. Compared to season one, the is an actual crush that happens between the characters at first, and then it is destroyed by words and appearances. for most of the episodes we only have to contemplate how their connection passes from intolerance to physical contact and declaration of feelings. But, it couldn't be that plain simple, right? the narrative add the impossible as a manner to capture the audience in hope for those obstacles to disappear. We think we are shipping a couple voluntarily, but nothing farther from the truth.

Otro hecho interesante que presenta esta temporada es la historia del anterior Lord Bridgerton y cómo afectó a toda la familia. Fue muy emotivo, y ver las implicaciones le dio mucho dramatismo a la temporada. Por último, me gustaría mencionar cómo la temporada también se trata de encontrar tu propia voz. Algunos personajes se encuentran en medio de una encrucijada, y toman la ruta para despertar más de sus personalidades, mostrárselas al mundo, y se marcan un camino durante el resto de la temporada y posiblemente toda la serie.
Sadly, not all is beautiful, and the show received some critiques. One of them was about the ethnicity of the Sharma girls. A production by Shonda Rhymes tend to be very inclusive on that aspect, but the books didn't contemplate such nature. I learned this fact after watching the season, and honestly it didn't bothered me at all. miss Sharma was played by Simone Ashley who is also known for her role in Sex Education. I liked the role she played and the chemistry with her costar in this season. SO, good call for the production.

Es una serie para reír, cotillear, amar y resolver misterios al mejor estilo de Orgullo y Prejuicio traído con un aire fresco menos rígido inmerso en un estricto ambiente social. Si sois fans de la película que he mencionado en este post, esta serie os llevará allí de una forma colorida a revivir la experiencia del ser amado desarrollándose bajo las adversidades sociales.
