Hello! 💙
If someone had told me that the Alien franchise was going to have a television series, I honestly wouldn't have believed it at first, because I couldn't imagine how you could tell a story about a single alien in eight episodes, especially given that this franchise is a monster. There are films that are much more philosophical and profound, but that's not what you do with a monster movie. But anyway, this series manages to do it, and in my opinion, it does so masterfully, because I can say that it's one of the best things to come out of the Alien universe. Not only does it deal with the monster, it also deals with other new alien species, it deals with the part that has to do with synthetics, androids, life, what it means to be human, and even a little spoiler: an alien gets involved with these synthetic beings.
With synthetic beings, although there have been quite a few of them in this franchise, in this case it's somewhat different because they are children with terminal illnesses who are about to die. And somehow they manage to transfer their memories and minds to a synthetic being, and although this may seem incredible and a huge feat, the truth is that it has rather dark intentions, and giving all that power to a child actually ends up having very strong repercussions. very strong repercussions in the film. In fact, the story of Peter Pan is used a lot to tell the story. In fact, the children themselves change their names to each of the characters in the book.
By this I mean that the script is one of the strongest points. The philosophical and existentialist aspects are very prominent in this series, but at the same time we have some very violent moments in the franchise that are quite explicit. I think that in this series we see one of the most intense massacres that anyone has ever been able to do, at least in an explicit way, and the truth is that it manages to do so masterfully. It's true that at the end of the season it left feeling quite unsettled, but the truth is that there is a lot of ground to explore because between the first and second films there is a fairly large gap to fill. In fact, I would say that they could make up to five seasons if they wanted to. And the thing is, even though this season has a kind of closure, the truth is that it leaves you wanting to see a second season. The biggest advantage of these series is that if you don't know anything about someone's universe, this series can be a good gateway to understanding that universe and also give you a chance to see the movies afterwards.
