  1. Alien: Earth (2025): Emergence - S01E07 - RECAP@skiptvads270d

    Source

Alien Earth, Episode 7, this is probably the most intense episode the series has delivered so far this season, things got really messy really fast and also makes me worried about where this franchise is headed even though I thought this specific episode was pretty solid overall. The whole Wendy character development has been the highlight of the show for me since day one and this episode really pushed her relationship with the Xenomorph to some crazy new levels that honestly made me both excited and concerned at the same time, like watching her command that thing was interresting but also a bit scary and inpredictable because you know its probably not going to end well for anyone involved. Episode 7 titled Emergence came up with new threats emerging from every direction, we got Arthur finally having his chest burster moment which was brutal as hell to watch just the same across the franchise with every single victim, Utani forces invading Neverland like some kind of military operation and this new terrestrial Xenomorph variant that looks very if not completely different from anything we have seen in the previous movies with its brownish color instead of the classic black. The pacing felt really good too, not too rushed but never boring either, they managed to pack so much content into this episode without it feeling overwhelming or confusing since some episodes this season have felt a bit slow or draggy in certain parts.

Arthur getting killed by the chest burster was probably one of the most heartbreaking moments of the entire series because he was literally the only adult who actually cared about these kids and treated them like real people instead of just experiments or tools to be used, watching him die right after he tried to be understanding with Slightly and Smee just made it feel worse. Arthur basically becomes a martyr, a victim and it felt earned and tragic but not manipulative or cheap, you could see it coming from a mile away but that didnt make it any less impactful when it finally happened because we had grown to care about him so much over the previous episodes. Slightly and Smee carrying his body around was hilarious and very sad since they literally dont know any better, these kids have no idea what they are doing and they are in way over their heads trying to deal with adult problems that no one should have to handle especially not children in synthetic bodies, I only wonder what would Wendy do if she was on the same position, she would probably junt down Morrow. The fact that Slightly still believed Arthur would be okay even after the face hugger attached itself to him just shows how naive and innocent these hybrids still are despite having super computers as brains, they might have adult bodies but they are still just scared kids trying to survive in a world that doesnt want them, seems the same for most synthetics during the franchise, similar to recent movie Alien Romulus.

Source Wendy commanding the Xenomorph felt so so unpredictable like it could snap at any moment and attack them, the way she just chitters at it and the creature immediately responds by slamming its head against the glass was incredible but also really unsettling because you realize she isnt just communicating with these things anymore, shes actually controlling them like some kind of Alien queen, she even think she finally understanding and talking back to them, the moment she says its kinda hard to find the right words. Her whole relationship with Joe started falling apart this episode too which was really sad to watch because their sibling bond has been one of the strongest emotional ties during the series but never felt rock solid almost like she felt ok with it once he was next to her, but I can understand why hes getting scared of what she is becoming especially after she unleashed that Xenomorph on all those scientists and guards. The graveyard scene where they found their own graves was probably the most philosophical moment the show so far because thats something Joe has been trying to push for the kids to remember who they were and their names, seeing Joe break down at Marcs tombstone while Wendy insists that Marcy is still alive inside her synthetic body was a strong moment and really made you think about what it means to be human or alive in the first place. Nibs reaction to seeing her own grave and realizing shes not really the same person anymore was equally confusing and very sad like she felt lost, that poor kid has been losing pieces of herself ever since her memory wipe and now she knows for sure that the real Rose Ellis is dead and buried in the ground, I thought Wendy could do something about her memory using her special powers like data dump into Nibs "mind".

Source Boy Kavalier continues to be the most frustrating character on the entire show because he just keeps making terrible decisions that put everyone in danger while acting like hes some kind of genius although he is use to take huge risks when making break throughs but this time it seems like he is not meassuring well who is dealing with, both the T Ocelus and the Xenomorph could easily take them down in a sec , so watching him get completely fascinated by the eyeball creature while his entire facility is falling apart around him was the perfect fit for his character, its always like each incident on the lab means nothing for him as he learns more about this Aliens despite the cost. The way he wants to put that thing inside a human host just so he can have a conversation with something smarter than himself shows how selfish and shortsighted he really is, hes willing to sacrifice other peoples lives just to satisfy his own curiosity and need for intellectual stimulation. Kirsh helping Slightly and Smee escape with Arthur body was hilarious af because it confirmed that hes been playing his own game this whole time, Timothy Olyphant has been brilliant during the entire season, Kirsh not just following orders from Boy Kavalier or being a loyal synthetic, hes actively manipulating events to achieve his own goals whatever those might be, because its not so clear what he wants, he might even be an infiltrated or just want to be free?. He was basically using the kids as bait to trap Morrow and capture another Xenomorph was clever but also really cold and calculating, it shows that even the characters we thought we could trust are ultimately just using everyone else as chess pieces in their larger schemes.

The ending with Nibs getting shot, I thought she was dead but she isn't; by Joe and Siberian was very shocking and really well executed, her violent reaction to them throwing Mr Strawberry in the water showed just how mentally broken she had become after losing her memories and sense of identity multiple times throughout the season, then watching her rip that guys jaw clean off remind me to the moment she snap for the first time, that guy could have been Dame, I think at that moment Nibs was just lashing out in pain and confusion like a wounded animal, and when Joe had to stun her to stop the violence it felt like he was putting down a rage dog rather than saving her, this synthetics can run wild out of control. Wendys reaction to Joe hurting Nibs was the final straw that broke their relationship completely at least thats how I felt it, from now on I think it wont be the same for those two, she screamed at him like he had betrayed the entire family which in her mind he probably had because she sees all the hybrids as her responsibility now that shes becoming something more than human. The way the episode ended with Wendy completely isolated from everyone except the Xenomorph hiding in the bushes nearby really sets up what looks like its going to be a pretty dark finale, shes lost her brother, lost Nibs, lost Arthur and now she only has this Alien creature that treats her like its mother which is very creepy but at the same time exciting depending on how you look at it. I'm really curious to see where they take her character in the final episode because she could either become the savior who protects the remaining hybrids or she could become the monster that destroys everyone who stands in her way, the franchise could easily take an entire direction of Wendy been the new Queen who commands the Xenomorphs to the point only Predators could save the Earth, but this is me just letting my imagination run wild.

  2. Alien: Earth (2025): The Fly - S01E06 - RECAP@skiptvads276d

    Source

Episode 6, The Fly is probably one of the strongest episodes yet, packed with tension and some crazy stuff happening both on the sci fi and political aspects, but I have to admin writing has been slipping from time to time but cant ask much about a tv series based on a franchise with decades of existing. After all that buildup were finally seeing the chaos start to unfold on this island and man do things get messy quick with the lost boys going down, one "dead", another crazy, another getting blackmail, another thats basically worthless but who knows might safe the day and then there is Wendy on her own journey as Xenomorph Queen. The episode starts with Wendy trying to talk to the baby Xenomorph, which by the way looks incredible since we starting to watch more of the hole Xenomorph development as they grow. This thing has grown from that tiny chest burster we saw before into something thats still small but way more dangerous looking and have an attitude too, the way Wendy sits there making those clicking sounds trying to communicate with this apex species is completely nuts. She really thinks she can make friends with these things and maybe shes right but it still feels like playing with fire and gasoline on her hands, this can backfire so quick but at least we know she can kill one. The Xenomorph actually responds to her too, which is wild to think about, these creatures have their own language and social structure apparently, kind of like bees or ants as Wendy puts it. Her brother Joe is not having any of this though, he keeps telling her these things are just killers but Wendy pushes back saying humans kill too, I dont see error on her logic lol, she got a point there even if its making everyone uncomfortable or her opinion been to extremist too. The way she talks about the creatures never choosing to come to Earth really fits the idea of them be either scared or defensive, like they are prisoners just like the hybrids in a way but might be worst as its against their will without option, probably with the T Ocellus might be piss at the hole situation, that sheep looks mad af. That whole conversation between Wendy and Joe about saying yes versus saying no was pretty heavy, especially when Joe tells her that sometimes saying no is the only thing that gives you power over your life but Wendys starting to question everything about Prodigy and what theyre really doing on this island, although she still remains on the Yes camp with Boy Kavalier after all he is the one making all this possible and she is having all of it, she is totally facinated with the Xenomorph.

![](https://i.imgur.com/DBGf6jm.png) [Source](https://tinyurl.com/32fxnkj5) The meeting between Boy Cavalier and Yutani was absolutely the political crazy part I mention before, it look silly too how Boy Kavalier behaves during the meeting as a child but in his mind its the reason why people like him are genius so he basically embrace his childish side. Boy shows up to this formal legal proceeding barefoot and dirty acting like a complete child, the way he sprawls across that conference table like hes at home watching TV instead of in a billion dollar negotiation might be infuriating for many but you got to take the series for what it is, this is not a Nolan movie. Yutani is trying to be professional but you can see shes getting pissed off at his actions, answers, the whole thing about whether the crash was intentional had me thinking because we know Boy orchestrated the whole damn thing although he makes it look like he didnt and to a certain point make it look believable that he is the victim but with that context dump we got the other day its clear whats going on here and Morrow definitely knows it more than anyone. For some reason Morrow doesnt say anything during the meeting which seems weird at first but he just want to rip off Kavalier's head or turn him into a Xenomorph, he did took his work life, the job he took and couldnt be with his daughter, so yeah Morrow has strong reasons and is saving that information for later and his own plans. When Boy accuses Yutani of smuggling illegal alien specimens to Earth and she has to admit it, that was a great moment and I laught becaue the lawyer guy seems shocked by the existence of these creatures on the planet, which makes sense since bringing Xenomorphs to Earth is probably against every safety protocol ever written. The negotiation gets wild when they start throwing around money like its nothing, going from 15 billion to 50 billion in damages, but Boy doesnt even care about the money, he just wants to keep the specimens for as long as possible under quarantine laws. Yutanis desperation shows when she offers 50 billion to take them immediately and Boy just laughs it off saying its unsafe for the whole planet, he is using the rules when they benefit him while breaking them when they dont under the table, makes Yutani look stupid.

Source There is this elevator scene with Morrow and Kirsh where they throw a few japs, it was intense and you can tell these two are heading for a major showdown but can Kirsh face Morrow 1v1? he is not suppose to be a combat unit, I think so. The way they talk to each other with such barely contained hatred makes both feel dangerous, Morrow calling Kirsh yesterdays model and asking how it feels to work for a company thats made him obsolete was brutal, but Kirsh fires back talking about how satisfying it would be to destroy a cyborg because they can still feel pain when their body parts start failing, Morrow is still human so he use this cheap shots word and also is weak against Kirsh because of his anger. The tension between these two characters has been building all season and this felt like the calm before the storm. Morrow mentioning getting one of those hybrid bodies for himself was interesting too, like maybe he sees them as an upgrade from his current cyborg situation. The whole conversation felt like two apex predators circling each other waiting for the right moment to strike but there is Kirsh watching everything unfold with Slightly and not reporting it to Boy Cavalier makes me think hes got his own agenda, so now we got everyeone coming from multiple angles Kavalier, Yutani, Morrow, Kirsh, Wendy, things going to get wild soon.

Source The stuff with Nibs getting her memory wiped was pretty disturbing when you really think about it, but I can understand that instead of dealing with her trauma from the Maginot and helping her process what happened, they just delete the whole experience like its corrupted data on a computer, this are experiments and they also have to show them off soon on an event so no time for debuging. Dame Sylvia doing the procedure while Arthur refuses because ethics and stuff... just different people handle these moral dilemmas in their own way, yes they are ""kids"" but they stop been human long time ago, besides theyre is an agreement and if they didnt turn them were dying too. Atom threat to have Arthur shot if he doesnt leave by the end of the day was cold as ice but this people probably just realizing on the deep sht they are in, yes he is married to Dame but tf does that mean to the corporation if nothing?. The way Nibs wakes up afterwards with no memory of claiming she was pregnant or fighting the eye creature is kinda sad but then there is Wendy trying to explain what really happened just confuses Nibs more since she has no framework to understand these experiences anymore. Its like they took away part of who she was as a person, even if that part was traumatic, the whole situation with Nibs falling apart mentally and them just hitting the reset button instead of providing actual help feels like a preview of how Prodigy treats all their hybrid investments when they become inconvenient, but then I wonder if Wendy have the powers to dump everything she knows about Nibs back to her, remember that scene when she locate her brother and control the robot, like on the Lucy movie.

![](https://i.imgur.com/r0yj9oi.png) The ending was a mix of everything, stupid, laughable and intense when Tootles gets trapped in that containment cell with the fly creature and things go sideways fast. The kid was just trying to feed these specimens like Kirsh told him to do but his hybrid strength made him break the feeding door without realizing it, that was stupid. When he tries to fix his mistake by going inside to place the food manually, that was stupid too, the eyeball creature in that sheep body scares him so he falls completely into the cell and gets trapped, that was the intense moment like this eyeball thing is becoming the protagonist orchestating everything, shows just how intelligent and manipulative it really is. Those fly creatures are nasty as shit too, spraying acid that melts Tootles face off before they start drinking his synthetic blood like its a damn milkshake, I thought like he aint that super human at all because of how easy he got fucked up but then again their minds are not that strong, they are kids so trauma kicks in. Watching this kid get killed was upsetting even though we knew something bad was coming, the fact that more fly creatures emerge from their hive tells me this is just the beginning of a much bigger problem, the zoo is going wild rn. But more upsetting was Slightly who uses the chaos to finally carry out Morrows plan, getting Arthur out of all others, he got him face hugged by one of those eggs after unlocking the containment systems. Poor Arthur never saw it coming, just trying to help what he thought was an injured hybrid and ending up with a parasite attached to his face, PROTOCOLS DUDE!!!. Kirsh watching all this happen and choosing not to intervene or report it confirms hes playing some kind of longer game. The episode ends with everything going to hell, the series so far has its ups and downs but for me its more ups than downs specially when new aliens pop out with new abilities same for Wendy, but I have to admit that many of the characters dont take their job seriously and forget that they are not dealing with humans anymore.

  3. Alien: Earth (2025): In Space, No One - S01E05 - RECAP@skiptvads282d

    Source

After episode 5 of Alien Earth titled "In Space No One" I'm trying to process what the hell happened because this is the episode that finally showed us what Noah Hawley has been cooking all along and honestly its about damn time. This episode takes us back to the Mino ship to fill in all those gaps from episode one and it delivers everything you want from an Alien story plus some stuff that will make you feel chills in the best possible way. The opening scene alone had me gripped as we see the crew dealing with face huggers breaking loose while some of the specimens got out, creating this perfect storm of chaos that explains how everything went to hell on that ship. Morrow continues to be the most interesting character on this show, fkn high af levels of intensity as he tries to keep control while his own crew falls apart around him, the guy is basically watching his life mission crumble while dealing with idiots who don't follow safety protocols. The best about this episode is how it balances the creature horror with human drama with dumb ass crew, never letting one overshadow the other but instead keeping them together at similar levels like a perfect nightmare sandwich. The episode goes straight into the meat of the story with the crew trying to figure out who sabotaged their ship while face huggers are literally humping peoples faces, its that classic Alien vibe we have been waiting for all season long.

The backstory we get about Morrow hits different than anything the show had offer before, learning that his daughter Estelle died while he was away on this 65 year mission adds this tragic aura to his character that makes him way more than just another corporate super soldier. The whole time and distance thing really messes with your head when you think about it, this guy left Earth with a young daughter and by the time he gets the news that she died in a house fire he still has decades left on his mission, imagine getting that message and knowing you cant even attend the funeral or grieve properly. The letters from Estelle talking about college and asking how important her dad is within the company are heartbreaking because you can see this kid just wanting to connect with her father who was literally unreachable, trapped in space chasing monsters for a corporation that doesn't give a damn about his personal life. Morrow's relationship with Utani becomes clearer too, she basically saved him as a feral child and gave him purpose, which explains why he is so loyal even when she treats him like disposable equipment, its that classic toxic parent child dynamic where gratitude gets twisted into blind obedience. The scene where he reads her final letter while that 1940s music plays in the background is probably the most emotional and the most sad moment this show has delivered so far, you can feel the weight of all that lost time and missed opportunities. This whole subplot about corporate exploitation and family sacrifice feels way more personal than your typical evil corporation story, these people are literally selling their lives for money and the company doesn't even pretend to care about the human cost, if you could, would you?.

    Source

Now lets talk about the real stars of this episode which are obviously the creatures themselves because they went all out with the practical effects and body horror. The face huggers look absolutely disgusting in the best way possible, when they are crawling around in full CGI mode they move like actual parasites but then switch to practical puppets for close ups and it creates this perfect blend of digital and physical horror that feels so real, when they are basically breathing through their host body, you can watch them getting air like a lung and pass it on once the host is down. The scene where one of them tightens its tail around someones neck while Morrow watches the security footage is pure nightmare fuel, you can practically feel that thing cutting off the air supply just from watching it happen on screen. Then theres this whole thing with the ticks that get into the water bottle, watching those little bastards swim around in Chibuzos water bottle while she almost drinks them multiple times had me literally yelling at the screen, its like watching the worst possible version of Russian roulette. When those ticks finally get into Malachite system and start sucking him from inside out, the medical scenes become absolutely brutal with all that blood and the failed attempts to save him, showing you exactly what these creatures do to human bodies. The Ocellus creature steals every scene its in with those tentacles slingshotting around the room like some kind of alien acrobat, this thing is smart enough to cooperate with other species when it benefits them but also ruthless enough to take on a full grown Xenomorph without backing down. The final confrontation between the Ocellus and the Xenomorph feels like watching two apex predators clash, every impact feel bone crushing, its exactly the kind of creature on creature violence that Alien movies have been missing for years except for some Predator vs Alien fights

    Source

The episode work so well because it handles the investigation subplot with Morrow playing detective while everything falls apart around him, the pacing builds tension perfectly as he pieces together clues about who sabotaged the ship. Petrovich being the traitor makes perfect sense once you learn his backstory about losing his wife to these creatures, the guy has every reason to want revenge against Wayland Utani even if it means betraying his entire crew, grief makes people do crazy things and selling out to Boy Kavaliere probably felt like justice to him. The whole double agent thing adds this sense corporate espionage that feels very relevant, these mega corporations are basically at war with each other and regular people get caught in the middle, Petrovich thinks he is getting revenge but really he is just another pawn being used by someone with more power. The revelation that Boy Kavaliere arranged this whole crash to steal the specimens shows how calculating these corporate leaders really are, they don't care about human life as long as they get what they want and Petrovich asking to be put in a synthetic body after the crash shows how desperate he is to escape his human limitations. Morrows final confrontation with Petrovich where he stabs him with that cyborg blade feels earned after watching this betrayal unfold but it also shows how the violence is setting the bar higher as the episode unfolds and nobody escape the episode without blood on them. The way this episode ties back to the present day with Utani and her royal guards sets up the kind of conflicts coming up, although this five companies stick a lot to political and practical money solutions.

Looking back at episode five I think this might be the turning point where Alien Earth finally becomes the show it was always meant to be, the slow burn setup from earlier episodes pays off here with character moments that actually matter and creature sequences that deliver on the horror as it was promise while this show was under production, we got space, we got horror, we got Aliens. The production quality in my opinion are through the roof with set design that recreates the Nostromo perfectly at the same time adding new elements that feel organic to the universe, you can tell they spent serious money making this look authentic rather than just slapping together some generic spaceship interiors. Noah Hawley and his team have created something that honors the original movies, the corporate politics feel real and I think it hits harder because it feels personal between Utani and Kavaliere. This episode proves that when the show focuses on what makes Alien special, the claustrophobic terror mixed with themes about capitalism and exploitation, it transport you to the movies we have all seen from this franchise and not just a TV adaptation, the waiting game finally pays off with an hour that justifies all the setup work from previous episodes. If they can maintain this quality for the remaining episodes then Alien Earth might actually become something special instead of just another franchise cash grab, the foundation is solid and the payoff potential is huge if they stick to this style of storytelling and horror.

  4. Alien: Earth (2025): Observation - S01E04 - RECAP@skiptvads291d

    Source

Episode 4 of Alien Earth was a bit different from what we have been getting so far, its titled "Observation" and that pretty much sums up what this episode was all about, everyone watching everyone else and trying to figure out who is playing what game, it turn out way better than any other episode so far and I hope the series just keeps climbing. Episode 4 is not action packed as previous episodes, this one slowed things down quite a bit, focusing more on the psychological stuff and character relationships rather than Xenomorphs running around killing people, there were moments where I was waiting for something big to happen but this episode was more about setting up pieces on the chess board for what I think will be some major problems later on, specially with the Lost Boys who are starting to go off rails and breaking direction or indirectly most of the rules, specially no external contact but lets face it Wendy started this party when she contact her brother, now she is different, she is special and thats started to create friction long time ago although she doesnt seem to be affected by this.

The series starrts to explore more Wendy's abilities to communicate with the aliens, Boy Cavaliere was flipping and absolutely obsessed with this discovery and you can tell he thinks has found the key to everything he has been searching for, a superior species to talk to and revolutionize the era they living in. It would be just easier if she started to talk to the Xenomorphs but they didnt handle it this way, it was interesting they put some stones in the way to build up more drama and thats good, Wendy can actually make the same sounds that the Xenomorphs use to communicate and its not just some random noise, its happening across multiple frequencies which shows these creatures are way more advanced than anyone realized. The scene where she practices making these alien sounds was both fascinating and creepy as hell, watching everyone in the room get uncomfortable when she pulls it off perfectly. Boy Cavaliere gets so excited about this breakthrough that he basically dismisses everything else, including Curly who was trying so hard to be his favorite but now realizes she has zero chance against Wendys new abilities, he even put her down saying "yeah you can talk French but can you do this..." that was a low blow but thats reality too. Meanwhile Kirsh is watching all this unfold and you can tell hes planning something, Timothy Olyphant does this cold calculating thing so well that you know hes up to no good, the guy knows about Morrow manipulating Slightly and hes just letting it play out for reasons we dont fully understand yet, my first impression is that he will handle this in favor of Boy Cavaliere but Im not so sure of that, although after all Kirsh do follow orders.

    Source

Source The whole subplot with the five corporations was probably my favorite part of the episode because it finally gives us some context about how this world actually works, turns out governments dont exist anymore and these five massive companies basically run everything now. Prodigy, Wyland Yutani, Threshold, Dynamic and Lynch have apparently fixed all the worlds problems by taking over, which sounds like corporate propaganda but its cool to see how they are expanding the Alien universe with this kind of world building. Joe explains how democracy used to be a thing where people voted for leaders but that didnt work out so these corporations stepped in, the way they present it makes it sound like a good thing but you know theres gotta be a dark side to all this control. They also made very clear that prodigy and Lynch were the new kids on the block, joining what used to be a thing of three main companies now to make it five, which suggests there might be some tension between the older and newer companies that could play out later in the series exploding into this war between humans and who knows where does all this Aliens, because its not Xenomorphs anymore, where do they all fit into this hole situation, I bet Boy Cavaliere will try to use them in their favor and until now the franchise have set the idea that Drones only caught humans to reproduce themself but what about their motives and thoughts? are they that agresive by nature or fear? can they actually come to a middle ground? Wendy is key to all this. Source

Source The situation with Morrow and Slightly really ramped up in this episode and its getting pretty dark, Morrow is basically grooming this kid and using his family as leverage which is just sick and you already now poor Joe is going to turn out to be the sacrifice to end this situation, well potentially, there are not many humans among them. After Slightly gives away his real name and tells Morrow hes from Ghana, Morrow immediately starts threatening his mother and brother back home, now Slightly has no choice but to help him steal one of the eggs or his family gets hurt. The whole thing is handled really well because it shows how someone with bad intentions can manipulate children, even super intelligent hybrid kids who should know better, Slightly is scared and desperate and making terrible decisions because hes trying to protect the people he loves. What makes it even worse is that Kirsh knows exactly whats happening, hes been monitoring everything Slightly sees and hears but instead of stopping it hes just watching like its some kind of experiment, and its also stupid from Morrow not imagening this could happen, he is a cyborg himself and nows this kids are a new kind of synthetic, its the kind of details the series just miss sometimes but I guess its fine. The scene where Kirsh talks to Slightly about the three monkeys and asks if he would stop someone from doing something wrong was chilling because you realize Kirsh might be testing him or maybe even planning to use this situation for his own purposes.

![](https://i.imgur.com/r0yj9oi.png) The episode ends with probably the most disturbing scene so far, Wendy going down to visit Joes lung in the tank where the xenomorph embryo has grown into a chest burster and somehow she can communicate with it and even calm it down enough to pet it. This whole sequence was nightmare fuel but also fascinating because it suggests Wendy might be able to control these creatures, I have been thinking this hole time since episode two that she can become their Queen of Blades doing a reference to Star Craft, which could be game changing for the series moving forward. The chest burster breaking through the lung tissue was gross but also showed us exactly what happens inside someones chest when they get face hugged, which was educational in the most horrifying way possible. Xenomorphs seem to have chosen Wendy specifically as their communication link, theres gotta be a reason why shes the only one who can do this and I have a feeling the explanation is going to be wild. The way she hums to the creature like a lullaby before it emerges was both beautiful and terrifying, showing this weird motherly connection that definitely sets up some interesting possibilities for future episodes. Overall this episode felt like a setup piece rather than a payoff episode but it did a good job of moving characters into position for what I expect will be some major chaos coming soon, the psychological elements and world building kept me engaged even when the action slowed down.

  5. Alien: Earth (2025): Metamorphosis - S01E03 - RECAP@skiptvads295d

    Source

Alien Earth Episode 3 titled Metamorphosis dropped last week, Im keeping up with the series but with so much content Im a bit behind on posting about it and Im a bit confuse with the show descions or north, trying to figure out what the hell is happening with this show, where we started with this promising concept about xenomorphs threatening our planet and now we got all this unnecessary drama thats slowly killing the vibe. This episode feels like they took the Alien franchise and decided to throw in a bunch of soap opera elements that nobody asked for, making the actual aliens feel like side characters in their own show. The opening scene has Wendy still chasing after her brother Joe who got dragged away by the xenomorph at the end of last episode, but instead of focusing on this tense situation we get sidetracked by all these other Lost Boys who are more interested in collecting specimens than actually rescuing anyone. Boy Cavaliere makes it clear that forget about saving people, its time to grab all the valuable alien creatures because apparently they are worth trillions of dollars, which completely shifts the focus from survival horror to corporate greed. The theater setting with old band posters really drives home how much civilization has been lost, but then the show undermines this atmosphere by having characters argue about their fake names and identity crisis instead of dealing with the immediate threat. Wendy finally finds Joe tied up in a container and hes screaming at her not to come closer because its obviously a trap but she goes anyway because thats what the script needs her to do. The whole rescue sequence should be terrifying but it turns into this weird action movie where Wendy basically becomes a superhero with a paper cutter blade, which is just ridiculous when you think about it, that wont do shit to an armored 8 feet tall Xenomorph.

Source The xenomorph was supposed to be this perfect killing machine gets taken down way too easily by Wendy actually feels disrespectful to Ripley who fought hard on the 79 movie cmon and now there is Wendy who apparently has superpowers now and can decapitate aliens without breaking a sweat, on top of discovering the weak point of a Xenomorph thats his second mounth, so many movies and nobody though of that??. This completely destroys everything that made the xenomorphs scary through all this years, they were supposed to be these unstoppable creatures that required incredible effort and sacrifice to defeat but here Wendy just chops ones head and when we look at the images latter on, its a clean cut, katana style. At this point sadly I have to admit this is exactly the opposite of what an Alien franchise should be doing, then after killing the xenomorph Wendy collapses and starts bleeding that white synthetic blood, which leads to more drama about her being different and special instead of focusing on the horror of what just happened. On the other side of the group there are the other Lost Boys, having conversations about why they couldn't choose their own names and what it means to be trapped in synthetic bodies, which feels like dialogue from a completely different show about teenage angst rather than alien horror. There is this scene where one of the girls is complaining about not getting to pick a normal name like Wendy and Im thinking why are we having this conversation when there are literal monsters running around trying to kill everyone, I get how this could be trying to expand the drama and turn this kids into actual monsters too so there are more threads on the series and not only Aliens anymore, but I also get this feeling the show keeps cutting between these pointless character moments and the actual alien threat, which kills all the tension and makes everything feel disjointed and unfocused. Morrow shows up again and starts questioning the Lost Boys about their nature, trying to figure out if they are really synthetics or something else, but even this potentially interesting storyline gets bogged down in unnecessary exposition.

The whole specimens collecting subplot takes over way too much of the episode, with Kirsh and the team grabbing five different alien species including the xenomorph eggs that should be treated with way more caution than they are showing. Boy Cavaliere is practically drooling over all these creatures like hes won the lottery, which makes sense from a corporate perspective but completely undermines the horror elements that should be driving this show. When they bring all the specimens back to Neverland its treated more like a science fair than a dangerous situation involving deadly alien life forms, the characters are way too casual about handling creatures that could potentially wipe out humanity. The scene where Boy Cavaliere almost gets face hugged because he puts his face right up to an egg is supposed to be tense but it just makes him look stupid, and Kirsh has to pull him away while explaining how the aliens work like hes giving a nature documentary. The whole dynamic between the different factions is getting more complex with Utani trying to recover the specimens from Prodigy, but this corporate warfare angle feels like it belongs in a different show entirely. Morrow calling his boss and refusing to come back until he gets the specimens creates this subplot about corporate loyalty versus personal obsession, which might be interesting in another context but here it just adds more unnecessary complications to what should be a straightforward survival story. The introduction of all these different alien species beyond the xenomorphs feels like the show is trying to create this expanded universe instead of focusing on what made the original Alien movies so effective.

Nibs is having an identity crisis about being trapped in a synthetic body she doesnt want, spoiler alert it gets WAY more wild on episode 4, but her trauma leads to this philosophical discussions about what makes someone human that feel completely out of place in an Alien story. She spends most of her screen time staring in mirrors and questioning her existence, which might work in a drama about artificial intelligence but here it just slows down the pacing when we should be dealing with the Alien threat, they really seem like trying to tame down the Xenomorph presence, yeah there is yet not a full grown one with them but Im sure its about to pop from Joe old lung. Curly is trying to compete with Wendy for Boy Cavalieres attention creating this weird love triangle that has nothing to do with the core concept of aliens threatening Earth and I wonder if that bubble is going to explode at some point creating friction between her and Wendy although been Wendy I doubt she comes back at Curly. The way they handle these character relationships feels more like a teen drama than a horror series, with characters arguing about favoritism and jealousy while literal monsters are running around. Slightly gets manipulated by Morrow through some kind of remote communication system that Im 1000% sure they going to catch and will be prepare for when Morrow arrive to Neverland, setting up this subplot about infiltration and espionage that again distracts from the main alien storyline. Now the really interested part of the episode is Wendy hearing the alien communications at the end, should be a terrifying revelation the reason for this is that you now have the potential to have one of your super hybrids be friend with a Xenomorph, thats fkn epic, imagine Wendy turning on the Xenomorph side and ends up they come in peace? well we know they dont.

Looking back at this episode I really feel like the show is losing its way by trying to develop too many different side stories instead of focusing on what should be its core, Wendy and the Xenomorph. The Xenomorphs that were supposed to be the main attraction are getting reduced to plain backdrop and instead they decide to talk about corporate politics, identity issues and teenage drama that doesn't fit in this Alien universe. When Wendy easily kills the alien it destroys the migthy presence of the Xenomorph on the show overall, I feel now this sence that they can do as they please with the Xenomorph instead be the other way, making these creatures feel less threatening than they should be in a franchise built around their lethality. The pacing feels all over the place with important alien discoveries getting rushed while we spend way too much time on conversations about synthetic bodies and corporate hierarchies, one thing I would be more interested is the powers and skills of all this aliens but I guess its just too much to bite. They have to shift gears at some point and hopefully is on the next episodes, if not the show is going to become just another generic science fiction drama that happens to have aliens in it, rather than a proper entry in the Alien franchise that understands what makes these creatures so terrifying. The whole concept of having children minds in adult synthetic bodies creates this weird dynamic where characters act immature during life threatening situations, which undermines the tension and makes everything feel less serious than it should be. Im hoping next episodes will refocus on the alien threat, they kinda does but make them stop getting distracted by all these side plots that belong in different shows, because right now it feels like we are watching multiple series that got mixed together by accident. The Alien franchise works best when it focuses on survival horror and the unstoppable nature of the xenomorphs, not when it gets bogged down in corporate intrigue and synthetic philosophy that dilutes the core experience.

Yesterday I sat down to watch Alien Earth episode two and Im honestly feeling pretty mixed about this whole thing, first one was ok and very similar to a lot of other movies on the franchise, the show has some decent stuff going for it but man there are so many moments that just dont make any sense that it gets really frustrating to watch, its a lot of copy pasting scenes like they had the story written but them film it on multiple scenes that then put together, I know this is how suppose to work but like they film them in an order that doesnt make much sense making the story telling a bit hard. The world building looks pretty solid with all these mega corporations running everything, the visual effects are decent enough and the cinematography has that dark sci fi vibe that works for the franchise, but when you start paying attention to the actual plot and character decisions you realize sometimes you feel dishoriented. Noah Hawley might have done great work on Fargo but this feels like he bit off way more than he could chew with the Alien universe, the writing feels sloppy and characters make decisions that are not so clever and go against basic logic or common sense which kills the immersion real quick, like for example why the hell would Cavalier let Wendy and the other kids go to the crash site, he knows he cant control them and Wendy is so experimental, that desicions is just madness.

As I mention thats the biggest problem have with this episode is how Boy Kavaliear just sends these kids on what is basically a suicide mission without any real training or preparation, these are supposed to be hybrids with supercomputer brains but they act like regular children who have never seen danger before in their lives. We are told repeatedly that these kids are smarter than regular humans because of their synthetic upgrades but then they make the dumbest possible decisions, you even see them playing and fighting like children of their age 10 to 12 years old, like when Nibs struggles to handle that little eyeball creature even though she supposedly has superhuman strength and speed, it just doesnt add up at all. Then you have Hermit using an elevator to escape the Xenomorph which somehow still works perfectly even though a massive spaceship just crashed into the building, like how does that make any physical sense, the infrastructure would be completely destroyed but apparently elevators are immune to spaceship crashes now. Wendy suddenly develops super hearing abilities out of nowhere and can hear alien chatter that nobody else can detect, there is no explanation for why she has this ability or why the other kids dont have it too, it just happens because the plot needs it to happen which is lazy writing, its a similar problem in Thunderbolts when it comes to Void powers, none are explain, he is just super powerful and there is nobody who can beat him, all out of thin air. The security camera thing is another joke where Wendy can somehow access and control cameras that have been working fine for hours while the actual rescue teams cant use them, that remind me of the movie Lucy that was heavily cretinism for this matter, she finds her brother in seconds while trained professionals have been searching for ages without any luck.

That dinner party scene with the rich British people felt completely out of place and tonally inconsistent with everything else happening in the episode, it was supposed to be funny I think it was hilarious but it just came across as awkward and forced, how they hell they didnt felt the SPACE SHIP crashing into the building??. The Xenomorph shows up and kills everyone at the party which goes against some of the movies because Im use to watch Xenomorphs capture humans alive for reproduction purposes but this one is on a speed run trying to kill everything that walks, Xenomorphs dont just go on killing sprees for no reason. But then after massacring all these people in seconds the creature suddenly decides to take its sweet time with Hermit instead of just killing him immediately, if you pay attention it goes slow with him instead of just reaping his head off or break him in half, one can argue because he didnt attack it directly but still, this inconsistent behavior feels driven by writers rather than character driven which breaks the immersion. The trained soldiers watching the Xenomorph crawl out of Morrows bag without doing anything about it was another one that had me thinking but I let this one slide, the show is also suppose to be horror sci fi so lets stay they just froze but these are supposed to be elite military soldiers but they look more like rescue soldiers. Wendy choosing to run back into the building instead of jumping down to follow the Xenomorph makes no sense either, we already saw her jump off a massive cliff without getting hurt so why not do the same thing here, it feels like the writers forgot about her abilities when it was convenient for the story, men this already feels like a rant but after a good episode one they just killing what could be great encounters between the hybrids and the Xenomorph or they just holding up for latter.

I also found from time to time accent issue with some of the kids that slightly bother me, its like some of the actor keeps switching between Indian and American pronunciations that was a bit distracting although not the end of the world. So far whats holding up the episode together is that it does feel like an Alien movie and expanding with other type of species and enhanced humans, things that they could have expand more and give more context about but we dont know any of ther abilities so far, not from cyborgs like what do we know about Morrows powers?? he can turn his arm into a welding machine, a fire arm and a machete, TF with that? they are adding great things to the Alien universe like the characters, the factions at Earth and potentially other types of Aliens but everything happens so fast that it lacks context. The whole story of sending untrained children into a dangerous rescue mission falls apart when you really think about it, even if they have enhanced physical abilities they still lack the experience and knowledge needed for this kind of operation, its basically child endangerment disguised as heroism.

    ![](https://i.imgur.com/r0yj9oi.png)

Looking at the bigger picture this episode feels like it was written and film by a group of people with different people handling different scenes without communicating with each other about continuity or character consistency. There are quick peeks of what could be a really interesting show buried under all these script problems, the corporate politics angle has potential and seeing Earth get invaded by Aliens instead of everything happening in space is a fresh take on the franchise, but when characters make decisions that go against basic human nature or established rules just to move the plot forward it becomes really hard to stay focus in what happens next. The practical effects work is solid and Timothy Oliphant does his best with the material he is given but good acting and decent visuals cant save a script that treats its audience like they wont notice obvious plot holes and logical inconsistencies. Im hoping future episodes will tighten up the writing and give these characters more believable motivations because right now it feels like watching a expensive fan fiction project rather than a professional television production worthy of the Alien name, Im so disappointed on Episode 2 and at most would give it a 7/10 because the potential is there but the execution needs serious work before this show can live up to its source material.

  7. Alien: Earth (2025): Neverland – S01E01 - RECAP@skiptvads305d

Alien Earth episode one release a couple of days ago and honestly I wasnt expecting much from another Alien prequel after the mess we got from some of the recent movies but I gotta say this first episode had me hooked for most of it with some really nostalgic sound effects and soundtracks, for anyone who is from 80s this series will be so familiar, for me been a lifelong Alien fan who thinks nothing beats the first two movies, I went into this expecting disappointment but hoping for something that could at least expand the universe in interesting ways and for the most part thats what we got here, nothing revolutionary but I think its going to be fun watch an hour; half movie, every week. The opening scenes immediately grab you with that familiar Nostromo vibe, the same green computer text, the crew waking up from cryo sleep around the breakfast table talking about their mission, its all very trademark of Ridley Scotts original masterpiece and thats both a good and bad thing depending on how you look at it.

What really impressed me was how they managed to recreate that claustrophobic spaceship atmosphere while adding their own spin with the whole specimen collection mission, how much danger the added to the classic Space Ship corridors with all this new Aliens is what really spice things up a bit, these Wayand Utani crew members are transporting five different alien species back to Earth including our beloved face huggers and you know from the start that things are going to go sideways real quick. The cast does a solid job of making you care about them in the short time we spend with the crew, considering how fast they all going to die and this is no secret if you have seen most of the franchise movies, they feel like real people dealing with corporate bullshit and dangerous cargo, talking about which mega corporations control different parts of the world now. The world building aspect really gets the spot light through these conversations where they explain how Wayand Utani controls North and South America while other companies like Prodigy and Dynamic have got a hold up the rest of the planet, I doubt now days this could be our future because before that happens democracy has to be out of the window but lets not get political or sentimental here. I like how the series decides to kill off this entire interesting crew in favor of focusing on what I can only describe as children in adult robot bodies and this is a cool twist because you might think they didnt let the characters develop but they cool part is that they get totally diposable and replace by better and more interesting ones, like the children turn into hybrids.

The whole hybrid concept with kids consciousness being downloaded into synthetic adult bodies is not revolutionary at all as a sci fi concept although its a new addition to the franchise but the execution feels off and could have been way better than it is, Sydney Chandler does her best with the role of Wendy and many times it feels so dangerous in both ways for her and anyone around her watching what is essentially a ten year old girl in a grown woman body, she can actually be psychologically abuse or snap and kill everyone she feels like, they literally playing with fire and gasoline, not to say they playing been God because we are past that point. Timothy Olyphant brings his usual commanding presence as Kirsh the sintethic, not to be confuse with an android, this are simulated humans while on the series androids are referred to enhance humans. During the episode there is this philosophical discussions about humanity versus artificial intelligence that for the most part provide some of the episodes stronger moments, especially when Kirsh talks about how humans used to be food until they built tools and convinced themselves they werent prey anymore. For some reason I didnt catch up the Peter Pan references until latter on the episode, at first when they group of kids were called The Lost Boys, I immediately thought about the vampire movie from the 90s but the started connecting the dots between the cartoon they played for Wendy and the name they all took, including the island called Neverland, there is also Boy Cavalier reading from the actual book. There were some cringe moments during the episode specially from Boy Cavalier during his obsession to meet a higher been, a very cartoonish villain.

The technical aspects of this episode are where things get really frustrating, the cinematography is absolutely gorgeous when theyre on the spaceship with all that moody lighting and practical sets that look fantastic, but then we switch to Earth there is this huge contrast that Im not sure how to describe but I have to say it looks very Godzilla Minus One type of scenario, where some sets look very real and others like a Japanese Monster movie with the city and everything else looking out of size and dimension, there are also this long takes that were clearly stitched together in post production, particularly during the sequence where multiple sick children are being transformed into hybrids one after another, how they jump from their conception and never allow their characters do develop or even had any kind of teaching or training, its also the case of Wendy as they only show a single therapy session, it would be more interesting if they dedicated more time to the hybrids development. These story slip ups really bothered me because they pulled me out of what should have been emotional moments and made me think about the production process instead of the story, I understand that creating seamless transitions is difficult but when they fail this obviously it becomes distracting. The xenomorph reveal at the end felt underwhelming compared to the build up, we barely see the creature and most of the violence happens off camera which might be a budget thing but it leaves the horror elements feeling a bit toothless with lack of reach.

    ![](https://i.imgur.com/r0yj9oi.png)

Despite my complaints about the technical and story issues with some other questionable creative choices, I very very interested in where this story is taking from here, it doesn't look like this series is getting much attention and I suppose for been an FX series. The relationship between Wendy and her brother Hermit who works as a medic for Prodigy Corporation has real emotional weight even everything happens through creepy surveillance scenes. The crash of the ship promises some interesting action scenes between the escaped specimens and the hybrid characters, and I like how Noah Hawley is not trying to recreate the exact same scenario as the original movie. The production quality is clearly high with impressive sets and costumes that feel authentic to the Alien universe, even if the CGI some times leaves a lot on the table, like almost hiding the Xenomporh. The sound effects and music is one of the strongest parts of the show, going heavy on the original films but in ways that enhance rather than distract from the new story being told. Overall this first episode sets up a lot of intriguing elements and does feel like part of the Alien universe while trying to come up with its own identity, if they can fix the story patches and lean more into the horror elements I think this series could be something special for viewers who appreciate world and character building over pure nostalgia, I give this episode a solid 7 out of 10 and Im definitely coming back for more next week.
