Este drama biográfico musical está dirigido por Baz Luhrmann, quién, a mi parecer, hizo una excelente elección al designar a Austin Butler en el papel de Elvis; me impresionó el parecido que lograron entre ambos, resaltando su tono de voz y sus controversiales movimientos al bailar.
Por otro lado tenemos a Tom Hanks desempeñando el papel del "coronel Tom Parker", cuyo personaje e historia desconocía hasta al momento, y aunque no puede decir con certeza que en su actuación fué fiel al original, logró transmitir sus actitudes manipuladoras y controladoras hasta el punto en que me hizo odiarlo 😅 Por lo que pienso que estuvo espectacular. |
This biographical musical drama is directed by Baz Luhrmann, who, in my opinion, made an excellent choice in casting Austin Butler in the role of Elvis; I was impressed by the resemblance between the two, highlighting their tone of voice and their controversial dance moves.
On the other hand we have Tom Hanks playing the role of "Colonel Tom Parker", whose character and story I didn't know until now, and although I can't say with certainty that his performance was faithful to the original, he managed to convey his manipulative and controlling attitudes to the point that made me hate him 😅 So I think he was spectacular. |

Otro aspecto que debo recalcar es la fotografía, wow, hay muchísimas escenas que visualmente son increíbles, la forma en que jugaron con los colores, las luces, las transiciones mezclando imágenes reales con las de la producción, fué un trabajo de edición limpia y de calidad.
Tengo entendido que grabaron más de 4h de película, pero tuvieron que eliminar muchísimas escenas, y no lo dudo porque la época de mayor éxito de Elvis tuvo como transfondo, la revolución cultural y racial de los Estados Unidos, dónde él mismo se vió afectado debido a su influencia afroamericana y por consiguiente, apoyo a ese lado excluido de la sociedad. |

La película tiene un estilo de narración muy parecido a Los "fantasmas de Scrooge", porque se supone que su relación tormentosa con su manager "El coronel", es contada desde el punto de vista de este último y puede que tenga un toque estilo fantasía, pero extrañamente no me molestó para nada, siento que precisamente eso le dió un toque más dinámico.
Vemos lo fácil que fué para este controlar a Elvis a su antojo, pues además de sus destrezas para manipular, fué un hombre muy inteligente en el negocio se la promoción y las ventas, logrando facturan muchísimo dinero a costas de Elvis y éste confió en todas sus decisiones, a pesar de que muchos le advirtieron sobre sus malas intenciones. |
The film has a narrative style very similar to "Scrooge's Ghosts", because his stormy relationship with his manager "The Colonel", is supposed to be told from the latter's point of view and it may have a touch of fantasy style, but strangely it didn't bother me at all, I feel that precisely that gave it a more dynamic touch.

Aunque la película se cayó después de la hora y media, porque comenzó con muchas cosas pasando y luego se fué volviendo más seria y lenta tornándose un poco aburrida, igual merece la pena ver. Sentí mucha tristeza al final, al ver una vez más lo vulnerable que es la vida y lo fáciles de somos a veces para destruirnos.
Además demostró como todos somos esclavos de algo, pues se puede considerar que Elvis fué esclavo de su manager, pero a su vez este era esclavo del juego, pues era ludópata. En fin, es una historia con sus alegrías, emociones, tristezas y desgracias. Todo en la misma trama. |
