THE BLACKLIST — SEASON 6

I've been following The Blacklist for a while now, and each season I watch, the deeper it goes and the more interesting it becomes. And in this new season, everything felt so different, starting from Raymond and Liz's relationship getting complicated. And in this season, there was a shift because Raymond was still trying to get his life back, and the weekly, or let me say frequent, names he usually gives to the task force were limited. Liz was still so desperate and determined to unwrap all the mystery and secrets surrounding her, her family, and the "imposter" who took the original Raymond Red Reddington identity.

The screenwriter and directors seem to do more work on this season, looking at what I watched. And the man who acted as Raymond, James Spader, he still gave me a course to keep watching because he remained dangerous, even though his defense was weakened at some point, but he still has that charm and unpredictable vibes even though in this season, he was faced with a different pressure of his own.

And the whole thing was becoming more interesting when I saw that he doesn't have complete control of his empire, and this time, some people are already some steps ahead of him even though they learned that from him. The relationship he shared with Dembe continued to matter because those are two people that always have each other back no matter what. And for me, Liz already has a mind of her own, and her behavior has become much more complicated in a way that she approached her work differently after learning that the Raymond Reddington she knows is not the real Raymond Reddington. Her discovery of her half-sister, Jennifer, adds another layer to my watch without her focus shifting away from the task force. And more than ever before, I like that she is now having a stand of her own and not getting confused or being pushed around like before. I like that for her, although she still did some frustrating things.

And the group of people I will not leave out are the task force. You see this set of people, Cooper, Samar, Aram, Ressler, and the rest; they have life outside the task force, their differences, but when they come together to work, it's always different, especially when they come together to work. The unity is always there.

And there was the introduction of new people and cases like the mysterious assassins, the doctor who specializes in changing the identities of criminals into a new one, and a lot of unusual cases that I didn't expect. Some new cases that were stronger than the previous ones were introduced, and that alone created more enjoyable scenes even if those characters only approached in those scenes alone.

But in this season, what I enjoyed most was what the writer did by showing how ordinary Red can become without the full control of his criminal empire and the mystery that surrounds his real identity that Liz was trying to uncover, because all interactions with Liz and Raymond always have a question that follows. And every scene that they are together makes more sense and gives me suspense because I began to wonder what each person knows about each other that they are keeping, especially all the looks on Liz's face say it all.

Just like the rest of the seasons, this season also gave this exhausting feeling of creating another mystery even when the mystery on the ground is yet to be solved. And some of the scenes were guilty of creating enough questions that I was trying to figure out in my head because I knew the answer to it might probably not come soon.... Still, I admire all the brilliant performances from my usual characters. From my watch so far, it's the most straightforward season and still the most important one so far because it was less of action and more of trying to uncover who is who after so much trust has gone in.
