As a young child growing up, the Christmas holiday meant alot to me and my family, It was a regular exercise to always celebrate Christmas by spending quality time together, buying gifts and sharing love to People around us. This has been part of my childhood and a very special part of that childhood included watching Christmas movies with my family. My favourite Childhood movie was Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. No matter how many times we had seen the Movie Home Alone 2: Lost In New York, I would always ask my parents to play it again for me to watch and I would never get bored of any scene in the movie.

There was no child back in the days, who never spoke about Home Alone, the movie gave us nothing short of Joy and Happiness during such special moments in our lives as a children.

The Movie Home Alone 2: Lost in New York comes a year after my favourite cast in the movie Kevin McCallister was left at home all alone to face a pair of unfortunate burglars. The incredible comedy movie was released in 1992 as a continuation of the first Home Alone movie.

THE PLOT The movie starts with a chaotic scene as members of the family seems to be in disarray while trying to pack up things for a Christmas holiday in Miami. Our main cast Kevin, their youngest kid doesn't like the idea of going to Miami as he sees Florida as antithetical to Christmas since it wasn't going to snow and there was no Christmas trees.

Kevin's brother Buzz McCallister pulls a joke on him during his solo performance at a school pageant and Kevin ruined the show by pushing Buzz. On getting back home that night Buzz offers a phony apology that the family accepts, but Kevin refuses to apologize to family stating that he acted out of line because Buzz disgraced him on stage. Kevin slams his family especially his mother for believing Buzz fake apologies and agreeing to spend holiday in Miami.

The McCallister family in the first Home Alone are known for going late to the Airport, as they overslept and woke up scrambling to catch their flight. Kevin loses track of his family at the airport as he tries to get battery from his father's bag for his recorder and mistakenly follows another person who wore a replica of his father's brown jacket.

He unintentionally boards a trip to New York while his family boards a trip to Miami feeling Kevin got pass security check. On getting to New York, Kelvin realises that his family did not board the same plane with him, he approaches the information desk at the airport asking what city he had landed in and the reply was New York while in Miami, Kevin's Parents had passed Kelvin's luggage hoping he was available to pick it but the bag was returned back to them, while his mother fainted realising that Kevin not in Miami with them.

Kevin had the best cuisine while in the hotel room, spending his father's money. He decides to go to a toy store on Christmas Eve to get toys and meets Mr Duncan, the store's owner who was selling toys to donate money to the hospital. Kevin decides to be generous by donating an extra tip for the hospital, Mr Duncan in return gifts Kevin a special gift for someone special to him.

Kevin hurries back to the Plaza but he was chased into the hotel by Mr Hector and Cedric who had found out that Kevin's credit card was stolen. Kevin escapes from the hotel room in what would be the funniest moment in the movie.

On running away from the hotel, Kevin was held by Harry and Marv outside, but smart Kevin quickly escaped running back to his uncle's empty house in New York but couldn't stay as he goes to the Central Park where he sees the pigeon lady who engages with him on her life experiences and it was pretty nice moment. The stolen card was reported by the police to the McCallister family. The family flies to New York as soon as possible to help track Kevin down. Meanwhile, Kevin decides to go on a mission to stop Harry and Marv from stealing money from the toy store.

Kevin makes an entrance to the toy store by breaking the window, initiating the alarm in the shop while taking photograph of the pair. Harry and Marv were lured back to his uncle's house where he had prepared so many traps to cause them pain and sufferings. All the traps were so funny to see as Harry and Marv could not think or figure out a way out of it. The duo finally catches Kelin as his pigeon lady friend intervenes for him by pouring pigeon food on them and the pigeons wasted no time in feasting on them while the police made their way to the park to arrest them.

Kevin heads back to Central Park to see his Pigeon lady to give her the special gift, he got from Mr Duncan to signify their unending friendship. The curtain closes with Kelvin's Father screaming his name after receiving a bill for $967 for room service

PERSONAL REVIEWS

WHAT I LOVED ABOUT HOME ALONE? In my honest opinion, the theme of benevolence, sense of belonging in a family, altruism and giving second chances, in addition to the holiday environment creates a superb Christmas movie which I enjoyed so much as a child. I admired how Kelvin could turn the tides of event into a beautiful relationship with his mother, the pigeon lady and Mr Duncan at the toy shop.

HOW IT INFLUENCED ME AND PEOPLE AROUND ME As a child, Home Alone influenced by teaching me the importance of having a family, no matter how far away you might be, your family is your family. Family should come first. Everytime I saw the movie as a child, I had this great sense of love for my parents and appreciating our togetherness. Reminding myself that the Christmas holiday is not one were I would be lonely but rather be in the company of friends and family.

WHAT PART OF THE MOVIE DID I FIND MOST INTERESTING I found the friendship between the Pigeon Lady and Kelvin as the most interesting part. They had share a very special moment together at the Carnegie Hall. Kelvin met someone who was willing to be there for him when he needed help. Also, I could not understand as a child how Marv was able to smile for the camera when he was in obvious danger..It was really funny to see him do that. Kelvin's sub to Uncle Frank calling him Cheapskate at the beginning of the movie was hilarious.

PERFORMANCE OF THE ACTORS/ ACTRESS THAT LEFT AN IMPRESSION There would be no Home Alone without the great Macaulay Culkin who acted as Kevin McCallister. Kevin gave me a sense of understanding that regardless of our age we could achieve or do great times. Kevin was a smart lad who only wanted to be relevant in his family. He had a great understanding of emotions at that age and was willing to help his friend out. He was generous also by contributing to the hospital and lastly he was a very bold character, at my age that was something I really lacked, it was interesting that I could watch a child at my age that bold on TV.

[Source] WHY I THINK THE MOVIE IS SIGNIFICANT AND GREAT I think the movie is significant because it shows the importance of the Christmas holiday and how special the holiday is. The Home Alone part 2 is an upgrade of the original version. It was more content filled and despite being very funny it was lesson filled.

ANY SCENE THAT POPS IN MY HEAD Back in the days, one scene I could never forget was; Kevin had just returned back to the Plaza from the toy store. The staffs in the Plaza made up of Mr Hector, Cedric, The Desk woman and two security Officers had made their way into Kevin's suite, then Kevin quickly uses his voice recorder to play a funny clip from "Angels with Filthy Souls movie" which sounded as if it was real. The words from the recorder was terrifying as it ended with fake gunshots sounding and yelling which made the staffs run for their lives. I can remember Kevin holding the exit door to say " Merry Christmas ya filthy animals and a happy new year"

Also at Rob McCallister house, There was a scene where he shocked Marv, the transition from Marv being a normal person to displaying his skeleton was really funny. I really laughed alot.
