My grandmother used to say that the only sure thing we have in this life is death. Paradoxically, it is death that we fear the most. Aware that our existence is so brief, it would make sense to assume that we make the most of every second of life, that we give priority to our happiness above anything else...nothing could be further from the truth, right?
Except for a few exceptions, which I sincerely doubt exist, the reality is that we go through life counting minutes, consuming our time in anything other than living life to the fullest. Enjoying life to the fullest means giving priority to ourselves, fulfilling dreams, collecting memories, loving, traveling, laughing, indulging ourselves, and allowing ourselves pleasures without guilt, knowing that we deserve it.

Disfrutar la vida a plenitud significa darnos prioridad a nosotros mismos, cumplir sueños, coleccionar recuerdos, amar, viajar, reírnos, darnos gustos y permitirnos placeres sin culpas, sabiendo que lo merecemos.

Hasta que un día nos enfrentamos al hecho ineludible de haber llegado al final de los días, y allí acaba todo. Last Holiday is a romantic comedy starring Queen Latifah, whose plot revolves around this issue. Georgia is a department store clerk with a salary that is barely enough to live on. Hay un momento en que Georgia mirándose al espejo se dice a sí misma: la próxima vez haremos todo diferente, reiremos más, amaremos más…no tendremos tanto miedo. Cada día es nuestra próxima vez, cada mañana es esa nueva oportunidad que tenemos para hacerlo diferente, para reírnos más, para amar más, para vivir pasando del libro de posibilidades al libro de realidades.
