It is difficult to define life, we simply live it, period. The one who wants to live it because some human beings do not even realize they are alive, as they say "live for the sake of living". For better or for worse, we come to this planet for a reason and we will never know why. Research comes and goes and, at the end of the day, they win Nobel prizes and nothing at all. But, the important thing about all this, is that we open our eyes at every dawn and it is another chance at life.

It is here and now, in the present, so, Hivers, let's live with passion. It is no good to say, "tomorrow... tomorrow..." This word is something ephemeral, since nobody knows if you will have a tomorrow and another opportunity, as we Venezuelans say: "nadie te quita lo bailao". So move on to do what you want: dance in the rain, sunrise on the beach under the stars, launch yourself from a paraglider; in short, do what you like.

I decided a long time ago to live for myself, I do not consider myself selfish, I just try to enjoy the present. And this was motivated by two experiences that marked my life. The first one, due to a thyroid crisis, and I met a man who gave me a turn in my life, Dr. Toledo, and when he saw me, he told me these words:

-When you leave the company, they will say that you never did anything and they will put someone else in your place. Work what is necessary and your schedule. Don't waste your time because that company is not yours. If you want to be a warrior, do it for your child, it's the only thing that will be worth it.

And I, as I can't take two orders, as daddy used to say to go and enjoy. I followed the recipe to the letter, planned my vacations and saved. I like to travel and I try as much as possible to make a space to travel once or twice a year. On my vacations I would go with my young son. Everyone told me, even my mother, that little boy. And I didn't listen to them. But I always traveled with my two nieces. Almost always with Rosalbita because she is like me, we like to see places.

The second experience was very sad. When I joined the company, one of my secretaries was always late. And when I called her attention, she would tell me that she was watching her news first. Before leaving, she would have a coffee. She also bought expensive perfumes, dressed very well and ate in the best restaurants when she got paid. And I would always say to her:

-Save - and she would smile. She would hug me and say:

-"Don't say anything, Rebeca, so they don't deduct from my paycheck. I promise to come in early tomorrow.

She was an exceptional woman, an unconditional friend, and she also liked to travel. She was always smiling. Four years after I started working in that company, she died of lung cancer. It was a quick thing, she had a cough and went to the doctor and that was it. I cried a lot and I remember her.

Well, this happened to Georgia, the protagonist of the film "The Last Vacation". A lifetime of saving, leading a life of lack, and for what? Oh lala,... "it's not worth it, what you love me because it's too little...". I invite you to join her in this unforgettable journey and in her last days.

Georgia, lives in a routine way, from work to home, without friends. And so, overnight, she has no time left, according to the doctors. That's when she decides to live her dream and spend her savings. To live his life in one fell swoop and stretch his time. To me, the part that shocked me and made me cry is when he looks in the mirror and promises himself, when he comes back again:

The environments where the plot unfolds fascinated me, especially The Grand Hotel Pupp t, where part of the movie was filmed; its beauty and opulence. I will take note of it for my next vacation. Also the food. I'm sure it's the life I deserve. Who would see me skiing in the mountains?

"C'est la vie", you have to assume it in order to be happy and make it more tolerable. Friends of the #Movies&Shows community, let go of fears . “La vida es fácil si eres una trufa o una seta shiitake”

Es difícil definir la vida, simplemente la vivimos y punto. El que desea vivirla porque algunos seres humanos ni siquiera se dan cuenta de que están vivos, como dicen por ahí “viven por vivir”. Para mal o para bien, venimos al este planeta por algún motivo y el cual nunca sabremos el porqué. Investigaciones van y vienen y, al final de cuentas, ganan premios Nobel y nada de nada. Pero, lo importante de todo esto, es que abrimos los ojos en cada amanecer y es otra oportunidad de vida.

Es aquí y ahora, en el presente, entonces, Hivers, vamos a vivir con pasión. No se vale decir: “mañana… mañana…” Esta palabra es algo efímero, ya que nadie sabe si tendrá un mañana y otra oportunidad, como decimos los venezolanos: “nadie te quita lo bailao”. Así que muévete a hacer lo que deseas: bailar bajo la lluvia, amanecer en la playa bajo las estrellas, lanzarte de un parapente; en fin, haz lo que te guste.

Decidí hace mucho tiempo, vivir para mí, no me considero egoísta, solo trato de disfrutar el presente. Y esto fue, motivado a dos experiencias que marcaron mi vida. La primera, motivado a una crisis de tiroides, y conocí a un hombre que me dio un revolcón a mi vida, el Doctor Toledo, y cuando me vio, me dijo esas palabras:

-Cuando te vayas de la empresa, dirán que nunca hiciste nada y pondrán a otro en tu lugar. Trabaja lo necesario y tu horario. No pierdas el tiempo porque esa empresa no es tuya. Si deseas ser una guerrera, hazlo por tu hijo, es lo único que valdrá la pena.

“¿Qué te gusta hacer, Rebeca?” Y yo le respondí, tímidamente:

-Viajar-

Y él respondió, sonriendo:

_”Pues, viaja”

Y yo, como no aguanto dos pedidos, como decía papi para irme a disfrutar. Cumplí la receta al pie de la letra, planificaba mis vacaciones y ahorraba. A mí me gusta viajar y trato en lo posible de hacer un espacio para viajar una o dos veces al año. En mis vacaciones me iba con mi hijo pequeño. Todos me decían hasta mi madre, ese niño tan chiquito. Y no les hacía caso. Eso sí, siempre viajaba con mis dos sobrinas. Casi siempre con Rosalbita porque ella es como yo, nos gusta conocer lugares.

La segunda experiencia fue muy triste. Cuando ingresé a la empresa, una de mis secretarias siempre llegaba tarde. Y cuando le llamaba la atención, me decía que ella, primero veía su noticiero. Antes de salir, tomaba un café. También compraba perfumes caros, vestía muy bien y comía en los mejores restaurantes cuando cobraba. Y yo, siempre, le decía:

-Ahorra- y ella sonreía. Me abrazaba y me decía:

-“No digas nada, Rebeca, para que no me descuenten de la nómina”. Te prometo mañana llegar temprano”.

Era una mujer excepcional, una amiga incondicional, y también le gustaba viajar. Siempre estaba sonriente. A los cuatro años de yo trabajar en esa empresa falleció a causa de un cáncer en los pulmones. Fue algo rápido, le dio una tos y fue al médico y listo. Lloré mucho y la recuerdo.

Amigos de #Hive, ahorra y trabaja solo lo necesario, viaja, disfruta de la comida que te gusta, ama, comparte un café con amigas, entre otros. Haz todo lo que te provoque y busca tus sueños. Sé feliz, hay tanto por hacer, y lo importante es aceptar la vida y aprender a saltar los obstáculos. A ciencia cierta, no sabemos nada de nada sobre ella. Así que vamos a vivir intensamente, a seguir adelante y a decir, como los franceses, "C'est la vie".

De repente puede llegar la brisa y ¡zúas!, apagar nuestra luz… y después nada, este fin de semana vi un filme, que no había tenido la oportunidad de ver y que me llamó mucho la atención porque es una realidad, ya que las personas en las cuales me incluyo, vivimos posponiendo todo, para mañana y algunas veces una noticia, un evento inesperado, nos cambia la vida. Imagínense que le digan que solo le quedan unos pocos meses de vida.

¡Whoa! Es una locura

Su vida se viene abajo, y solo quedan tres meses. Y mis sueños, metas y anhelos, ¿dónde quedan? Es difícil, ¿verdad? Pues a Georgia, la protagonista del filme “Las últimas vacaciones”, le sucedió esto. Toda una vida ahorrando, llevando una vida de carencias, y ¿para qué? Oh lala,.. “no vale la pena, lo que tú me quieres porque es muy poquito…”. Les invito a acompañarla en este viaje inolvidable y en sus últimos días.

Georgia, vive de manera rutinaria, del trabajo a la casa, sin amigos. Y así, de la noche a la mañana, ya no le queda tiempo, según los médicos. Entonces es cuando decide vivir su sueño y gastar sus ahorros. Vivir de un solo golpe su vida y de estirar el tiempo. A mí, la parte que me impactó e hizo llorar es cuando se ve al espejo y se promete, cuando vuelva a regresar:

-“la próxima vez disfrutaremos más, amaremos más...”-

Para ella el tic…tac… se acaba, pero y el amor. Muy al final entiende que el tiempo que tenía que aprovechar, era con las personas que ama.

Otra escena que me gustó, es cuando lanza a la basura su libro de posibilidades, deja todo atrás y se lanza a una aventura. Esta película fue estrenada en el año 2006, y estuvo bajo la dirección de Wayne Wang. Durante un ahora y cincuenta minutos disfrutaré de las locuras de Georgia.

¡Whoa! Es una locura.

Los ambientes donde se desarrolla la trama me fascinaron, sobre todo El Grand Hotel Pupp t, donde se filmó parte de la película; su belleza y la opulencia. Voy a tomar nota para mis próximas vacaciones. También la comida. Estoy segura que es la vida que me merezco. ¿quien me viera esquiando en la montaña?

"C'est la vie", hay que asumirla para poder ser feliz y hacerla más tolerable. Amigos de la comunidad de #Movies&Shows, dejen los miedos. No es fácil ni color de rosa, pero hay que seguir el camino. Hay que intentarlo todos los días, no hay nada que perder, ya que si caemos, nos levantamos. Siempre tratando de ser mejores personas. Aprovechen la juventud, porque al final el dinerito ahorrado se les irá comprando aspirina y ungüentos para los dolores.

Recomiendo esta película para estos días de Navidad, para disfrutar con un delicioso café cerrero o chocolate caliente. Como dicen por ahí: «no dejen para mañana lo que pueden hacer hoy”, sobre todo vivan y no dejen pasar las oportunidades. Recuerden que la vida es una sola, y puede llegar la brisa y ¡zúas!, apagarla.

Last Holiday is one of those films that knows how to make the most of its simplicity to deliver a perfect story within its humble parameters, it doesn't spend too much time developing its themes, but at the same time it knows how to handle them with relative skill.

Directed by Wayne Wang and starring the excellent Queen Latifah, Last Holiday introduces us to Georgia Byrd, a hard-working woman who has never taken many risks in her life and who has made it her mission to save every penny... everything changes when she receives a tragic diagnosis: he has several tumors on his head and he only has 3 weeks to live.

She sounds pretty depressing, right? But the reality of Last Holiday couldn't be further from this sad premise as we spend most of the footage watching Byrd decide to make the most of the last days of her life, dedicating herself to doing everything she never did.

In its own way, we are facing a moving comedy that is responsible for highlighting all the good things in life beyond materialism, tells us about the importance of enjoying the moment beyond the worries that lie in wait for us in the long term and does not spend time in existentialist melancholies.

In essence, it is a point of connection with a kind of cinema that is less and less frequent, uninhibited, honest, full of flaws but without claiming a perfection that does not exist. We are not facing a work of art and the logic of the events shown sometimes falters on itself, however, this at no time permeates our enjoyment.

Last Holiday es una de esas películas que sabe aprovechar su simpleza al máximo para entregarnos una historia perfecta dentro de sus humildes parámetros, no gasta demasiado tiempo en desarrollar sus temas, pero al mismo tiempo sabe manejarlos con relativa habilidad.

Dirigida por Wayne Wang y protagonizada por la excelentísima Queen Latifah, Last Holiday nos presenta a Georgia Byrd, una mujer trabajadora que nunca ha tomado muchos riesgos en su vida y que se ha empeñado en ahorrar hasta el último centavo... todo cambia cuando recibe un trágico diagnóstico: tiene varios tumores en la cabeza y no le quedan más que 3 semanas de vida.

Suena bastante deprimente, ¿verdad? Pero la realidad de Last Holiday no podría estar más alejada de esta triste premisa ya que pasamos la mayoría del metraje viendo como Byrd decide aprovechar al máximo sus últimos días de vida, dedicándose a hacer todo lo que nunca hizo.

A su manera, estamos frente a una comedia conmovedora que se encarga de resaltar todas las cosas buenas de la vida más allá del materialismo, nos habla de la importancia de disfrutar el momento más allá de las preocupaciones que nos acechan a largo plazo y no gasta tiempo en melancolías existencialistas.

En esencia, es un punto de conexión con un clase de cine que cada vez es menos frecuente, deshinibido, honesto, lleno de falencias pero sin pretender una perfección que no existe. No estamos ante una obra de arte y la lógica de los eventos mostrados a veces se tambalea sobre si misma, no obstante, esto en ningún momento permea nuestro disfrute.

Byrd es un reflejo nuestros miedos, y al mismo tiempo, un ejemplo perfecto de por qué es buena idea dejarlos atrás. Last Holiday siempre valdrá la pena.

What would you do if you found out you only had a few weeks to live?

My grandmother used to say that the only sure thing we have in this life is death. Paradoxically, it is death that we fear the most. Aware that our existence is so brief, it would make sense to assume that we make the most of every second of life, that we give priority to our happiness above anything else...nothing could be further from the truth, right?

Except for a few exceptions, which I sincerely doubt exist, the reality is that we go through life counting minutes, consuming our time in anything other than living life to the fullest. Enjoying life to the fullest means giving priority to ourselves, fulfilling dreams, collecting memories, loving, traveling, laughing, indulging ourselves, and allowing ourselves pleasures without guilt, knowing that we deserve it.

As if life were a condemnation, we leave everything for later, for the right moment, for when we can...thus, postponing our dreams, to the point that we end up in the pernicious wheel of routine, spinning without escape, consumed by what society dictates, focused on satisfying social morbidity over the peace we so much long for. Until one day we are faced with the inescapable fact of having reached the end of our days, and that's when it all ends. At that moment, the accumulated material wealth is worthless, at least not for the one who will no longer be there; at that moment, everything you worked so hard for will belong to someone else, whether they deserve it or not...it will have been worthless to have deprived you of living at ease.

¿Qué harías si te enteras que te quedan pocas semanas de vida?

Mi abuelita solía decir que lo único seguro que tenemos en esta vida, es la muerte. Paradójicamente es a la muerte a lo que más tememos. Conscientes que nuestra existencia es tan breve, tendría sentido suponer que aprovechamos cada segundo de vida al máximo, que damos prioridad a nuestra felicidad por encima de cualquier cosa…nada más alejado de la realidad.

Salvo contadas excepciones, que sinceramente dudo que existan, la realidad es que vamos por la vida descontando minutos, consumiéndonos el tiempo en cualquier otra cosa distinta a vivir plenamente. Disfrutar la vida a plenitud significa darnos prioridad a nosotros mismos, cumplir sueños, coleccionar recuerdos, amar, viajar, reírnos, darnos gustos y permitirnos placeres sin culpas, sabiendo que lo merecemos.

Como si se tratase de una condena la vida, lo vamos dejando todo para después, para el momento adecuado, para cuando se pueda...así, postergarnos los sueños, al punto que terminamos en la rueda perniciosa de la rutina, girando sin escapatoria, consumidos por lo que dicta la sociedad, enfocados en satisfacer el morbo social por encima de la paz que tanto anhelamos. Hasta que un día nos enfrentamos al hecho ineludible de haber llegado al final de los días, y allí acaba todo. En ese momento, las riquezas materiales acumuladas no valen nada, al menos no para quien ya no estará; en ese momento, todo por lo que tanto trabajaste, será de alguien más, lo merezca o no…de nada habrá valido haberte privado de vivir a tus anchas.

Last Holiday is a romantic comedy starring Queen Latifah, whose plot revolves around this issue. Georgia is a department store clerk with a salary that is barely enough to live on. Todos esos sueños los documenta en su libro de posibilidades.

Un día, mientras coquetea con el hombre de sus sueños se golpea accidentalmente la cabeza, por lo que es llevada de inmediato a la unidad médica de la empresa para ser evaluada. Estando allí, le realizan una resonancia magnética cerebral para evaluar el daño de la contusión. Es curioso ver como esta mujer consigue ganar aduladores por llevar un estilo de vida ostentoso algunos días en un hotel, cuando en su vida cotidiana habría sido completamente ignorada por esas mismas personas. Esta película data del 2006, tal vez muchos de ustedes ya la vieron, no es ninguna super producción, ni mucho menos, pero si lleva consigo un mensaje que merece ser compartido e internalizado, el de aprender a vivir el ahora sin juzgarnos tan duro las veces que caigamos, y sin esperar tanto para tomar acción. Hay un momento en que Georgia mirándose al espejo se dice a sí misma: la próxima vez haremos todo diferente, reiremos más, amaremos más…no tendremos tanto miedo. Cada día es nuestra próxima vez, cada mañana es esa nueva oportunidad que tenemos para hacerlo diferente, para reírnos más, para amar más, para vivir pasando del libro de posibilidades al libro de realidades.

La vida es ahora, el mañana es incierto.
