Zacny film w uniwersum DC, bardzo dziwnie wpisuję się w biografię i filmografię Todda Phillipsa - specjalizującego się do tej pory w filmach komediowych. Film jest klimatyczny ciężki , stylizowany na okres lat 80 tych (Bruce Wayne przyszły Batman ma tu około 10 lat ) . Faktycznie jak zauważył jedyny mniej przychylny recenzent na film-webie (5/10 u niego) coś tu zgrzyta do połowy współczuć można zaburzonemu psychicznie protagoniście - Arthurowi (fenomenalny Joaquin Phoenix ) jednak sam tytuł i logika filmowa wymusza jego transformację w szalonego antybohatera mimo wszystko do końca trudno przestać być zahipnotyzowanym jego występem (oraz występkiem :) !) ...
Czy Phoenix przebił aktorstwo Jacka Nicholsona z ekranizacji Burtona ?! na pewno poszedł inną ścieżką i innym tropem.
Jest to film bardzo dobry - nie czułem w nim jednak ni krztyny klimatu i wrażenia że oglądam Gotham ( ekran ocieka jakąś nowoyorskością w ciemnym wydaniu) .
Są co najmniej dwa ciekawe twisty (ale nie chcę spojlerować) i bardzo dobra rola drugoplanowa De Niro jako komika telewizyjnego...
