Hey guys, how's everyone? I hope you're all well and your week is going smoothly.
I just recently figured out how to write in Scrobble Life, so...
You know I will never miss this day no matter how busy I am, 'coz this is the only day of the week where I get to chill with you and listen to good and interesting music. Plus, I get to update you on what's happening in my life, even if you're not really interested.
I am sharing it anyway,
I already finished writing the draft yesterday, but last night I was so sleepy that I wasn't able to proofread it. My best friend read some of my posts and told me that my personality is stronger than my proofreading, lol. I'm so offended! Only my friends have the power to criticize me that way! Well, I just realized it's juz right to go over it because I am getting paid, right?
So, last Monday was World Teachers' Day. Now I'm showing you this drawing. I gave my student homework, asked her to draw her family tree, and look what she did! Yeah, part of the job is also understanding abstract art. Hee hee, so cute.
This is an old picture, but lately, I've been thinking about making some changes in the room. A good working atmosphere is very important, and if you feel good about your surroundings, it shows when you meet your students.
Here's another picture I'm sharing. It was actually the national holiday since last week, but most students have their upcoming examinations, so we were reviewing... a lot. Some children went on a trip, and this picture was sent to me by the mom of my student. They were strolling, saw this, and said, "Let's take a picture with Teacher!" Yeah, they call me Kuromi. Isn't that sweet?
I also had mooncakes because over the last couple of weeks, it was the Harvest Moon, or the Mid Autumn Festival, in some parts of Asia. It's like Thanksgiving in Western countries, and they celebrate it during the full moon in August or September. Last year, one of my students sent me white mooncakes with a custard filling inside. Those were the best! I'm still dreaming of those to this day.
I know they are kind of unrelated to music, but you know, I am a random person who likes random things. But honestly, these are just some of the many highlights of being a teacher that make my heart happy. Really happy, that despite the exhaustion, I still smile before going to bed.
Today I want to share Metallica for my #ThreeTuneTuesday. Let's mention @ablaze, 'coz this was his initiative, make sure to check his entry out and the others' too! Last week's songs were intense, so let's take it slow for this week and have some powerful ballads/ slow rock from Metallica.
"It's a crime to alternate pick any Metallica song," because you know? Hetfield, thingz. That's an inside joke amongst Metallica fans. I thought that was stupid, but later on, understood. Hetfield is famous for his relentless down picking, although it's not true that he gets offended if people play his songs with alternate picking... 'coz seriously? That's ridiculous.
I already listened to some entries and scrobbled them too, so maybe later today if I'm free, or tomorrow, I will be engaging with your posts. I don't get to visit people these days unless I see them in my notifications. I'm bad...I know, it's just like only checking on people when I stumble across them, and that's bad. So sorry for that, but you know, I actually hate faking connection, so being quiet is better, I suppose, until I have the time to catch up.
Nothing Else Matters
What I like about James Hetfield is that he's not only good at guitar, he's also good at writing songs. This may be one of my favorite slow rocks. It's mellow, it's powerful, and it's good to the ears... eargasm.
Fade To Black
Would you believe that despite their popularity, there was a time they were so down that Hetfield had to put his emotions into lyrics and managed to make this song? It actually has a good guitar solo.
I searched about the song yesterday and found out that in 1984, their equipment was stolen, leaving the band helpless. Like us, they are normal people too, going through a lot of things, walking on the same ground as us. So this album is highly emotional and grounding for the band. Hetfield was writing songs and albums like it was his very own journal. How dope.
The Unforgiven
I honestly interpret this song as his emotions toward his father. Hetfield had a very difficult childhood. We'd usually hear a lot of bad things about him, but who are we to judge the way he lived if we've never walked in his shoes? My father and uncle would always remind me of that as a child, so I am not the kind of person to meddle and point out people's mistakes... because I know for sure that I have plenty of flaws too, to sit with, to face, and to handle.
Do I forgive people easily? No. I have my boundaries too. But one thing about me... I don't hold grudges. You did what you did with the complete knowledge of how it would come off to me or how it would make me feel, and you still chose to do it deliberately. So yeah... there are actually many people in my life, family, friends.... that are unforgiven. Those are kind of heavy to carry over the years, no matter how I try to shrug it off. But you know, I wish the day would come when I get to finally forgive them... and myself.
Hah. That's some emotional gear from Ellie, right? The part you don't always get to see from me.
Let me add a bonus track, coz I like this song too.
Wherever I May Roam
There you go, I just finished eating my lunch.. thankfully I was able to eat lunch today! and now I'm about to nap, 'coz nap is life.
Catch up soon.
Ellie 💕
