Note, in this text I will not limit myself when it comes to spoilers. If it bothers you, know that you read at your own risk! In 1 short paragraph, I'll write a spoiler-free summary so that you have an overall picture of whether it's worth watching (or not) and how I roughly judge the new adaptation of one of the most famous heroes. I won't tell you about some things, because I haven't thought everything over yet.
So ... I had much higher expectations of him, but I'm talking about the best possible scenario. Looking from the perspective of minimal expectations (because I often imagine different situations, whether I like the film or not), I am far from being criticized. It's been a long time since I didn't know how to rate a movie. At 90%, I will not put my rating in the review, which will be posted on the blog by Sunday (I mean on March 20), because this changes depending on my mood and whether I think about things that I liked about it or not. The film has a LOT of advantages and things that I liked, but it has two major disadvantages that spoil my screening a lot. The first half, even though I have a few minor complaints against her, were good. The center of the movie is really cool, but because of these two problems, I can't fully enjoy it. Or rather, there are more of them, but the rest (so much) do not bother me and if it were not for "two deadly sins", perhaps I would not pay attention to them. In my notes for review, mostly the pluses dominate. It's all about the length and the excess of content, at some point the movie dragged on like a snail on the road. It wasn't boring ... Ie. it was, but not in the sense of "weak and boring", because when I analyzed these scenes calmly, I have no complaints against most of them. I say this from the perspective of an honest reviewer who has good taste and can distinguish a good product from shit (or at least I think so, judge for yourself or rightly), as well as an ordinary viewer who wanted to see a good movie. The problem is that there is just too much content and "The Batman" was more boring for me than the safely made "Dune". If he cut 40-50 minutes from it, IMO would only gain. The problem is I don't know what can be cut. Ie. sure, there will be a few things that can be easily deleted, but it won't be more than 30 minutes in my opinion. The rest would just have to be shortened, but also some things would have to be developed - i.e. those that got too little airtime. In closing - the action scenes are GOOD, there are no bad actors, no poorly written roles. If you do not mind the fact that you will have to sit in the cinema for 3 hours + some of the material may be excessively boring for you, then you should not complain.
Ok, and now I invite the rest of the readers to continue the impressions after the screening. The highlight of this film, in my opinion, is Colin Farell. Fucking Colin Farrell, who perfectly impersonated the Penguin. I was so stunned by his role that I still can't believe it's him. Maybe I will change my mind over time, but for today I'm fucking infatuated with him. His Penguin is a cynical and funny comic relief, and at the same time well-shown mafia (anyway, the whole Gotham Mafia was shown very well!). Cruel, ruthless and not stupid. With a wonderful voice and perfect facial expressions, I often laughed sincerely at his texts or the situations he found himself in. I really liked his relationship with Vengeance, mocking him and the whole environment. Colin had fun with the role, and the writer with him - escaping Batman is fucking gold, along with the plot ending - I laughed. Or his mocking reply to Batman - "He's the mayor? It's a pity the shit. Sorry, I'm just the boss here, I don't know what my clients are doing xDD." Such a positive motherfucker, perhaps the best Villain in the history of Batman movies (from my subjective perspective), and certainly one of the best, looking at the brand's portfolio so far. Farrell deserved an Academy Award nomination at a subsequent ceremony. The Riddler came out well, I liked his performance as an arrogant and self-centered ass. I don't like his sadism a bit (although I only know him from movies, animations and games), especially in the scenes that I could see in "SAW" (rats on the face, making the prosecutor a living bomb), but I have no major complaints about it. This is a full-fledged character that is completely consistent and we got a very good justification. He is an orphan, just like Batman, who grew up like real orphans in that city - without money, in terrible dirt, among drug addicts, in conditions that offend humanity, with no hope for a better tomorrow. That his frustration has grown to such an extent is nothing abnormal. Robert Pattinson as Batman & Bruce Wayne turned out really well. I am not surprised, I defended this casting from the beginning and I hope we will get at least 3 films with his participation. I have only two accusations against him - Bruce is not enough + he's too skinny, let him gain weight and gain muscle for a sequel. I still prefer Ben Affleck (in my opinion the best actor for this role, or at least one of the best), but I have absolutely no serious complaints about Robert. He's an excellent, intelligent detective (fuck, finally, how many years have I waited for us to see this in the movie version!) Who can hit the face, and criminals are scared when they see him or fall with a loud thud to the ground. My friend Wojtek's dreams of seeing Batman, the detective-motherfucker on the screen, have come true.
The way of presenting brutality and the atmosphere of some situations reminded me very much of Batman TAS. In the film, they indulged in a bit more, the brutality is shown directly and at times in a very suggestive way, but not directly. An 11-year-old child will see strong scenes (and if I had a son that age, I would definitely go to the movies with him), but in a slightly limited, hidden form. Likewise, the scantily dressed ladies from the mafias, which were shown so as not to spoil the 13-year-olds too much. Overall, the movie is very satisfying when it comes to beating criminals, Batman and his gadgets, action scenes, flashy Riddler puzzles. Not all of them were successful, and even there were too many of them, but "The Batman" is very nicely filmed and produced, it is worth watching in the cinema. Especially if you like "The Animated Series" like me, with the police scenes or some Gotham shots, it felt like it was the same world. I wrote about the excess of scenes, my point is that you could cut back on the role of Riddler. Together with my girlfriend, we had a similar observation - some of his actions were unnecessary, they were tiring instead of being fun. In the conversation between us, I added that on paper this idea was good - thanks to that the plot was packed with a lot of good content, the plot was extensive, but ... I have the impression that it was too much. I do not know how other reviewers rate this film - I hold back before knowing their opinions, because I do not want to suggest myself when writing my text. I have absolutely no objections to the mafia thread, it was great. I only talked about the film with Asia and Tomasz, who was also at the cinema yesterday (a friend who has been watching my FB profile for many years), so I don't know how the rest of them judge his pacing. For me, it was too stretched and it would be worth throwing a few things away, even if they were good. I was simply overloaded by at least 30 minutes. It was possible to close the Riddler plot in a conversation with Batman in prison (which was excellent!) And throw out everything that happened later because of him. Literally everything. In my opinion, the film did not need this, and it would even be for the better. And while I'm talking about it, they might have thrown away a few other, unnecessary minutes and built up their relationship with Alfred in that place. This one was clearly shown, I saw in it most of the things that I associate with comic book reviews I listen to on YT, but it was too little and I'm disappointed. They deserved much more time together. The same can be said for Bruce, who was far too little in this movie! Admittedly, when he showed up, Robert Pattinson did a very good job, but he had far too few occasions where he was without a costume.
Summing up - I don't know if I can recommend this film to you, but I definitely consider it a good production. Is this the best brand in the history? So far, I do not know, I will judge it after the premiere of the film on HBO Max, which will be in a month.

Zatem... Miałem wobec niego zdecydowanie wyższe oczekiwania, ale mówię o najlepszym możliwym scenariuszu. Patrząc z perspektywy minimalnych oczekiwań (bo często wyobrażam sobie różne sytuacje, gdy film mi się podoba lub nie), to daleko mi do krytyki. Dawno nie miałem takiej sytuacji, że nie wiedziałem jak ocenić film. Na 90% nie zamieszczę swojej oceny w recenzji, która najpóźniej do niedzieli trafi na bloga (mam na myśli 20 marca), bo ta zmienia się w zależności od mojego humoru i tego, czy myślę o rzeczach, które mi się w nim podobały, czy nie. Film ma MNÓSTWO zalet i rzeczy, które mi się podobały, ale ma dwie duże wady, mocno psujące mój seans. Pierwsza połowa, mimo że mam wobec niej parę drobnych zarzutów, była dobra. Środek filmu jest naprawdę zajebisty, ale przez te dwa problemy nie mogę się nim w pełni cieszyć. Czy raczej, jest ich więcej, ale reszta mi (aż tak) nie przeszkadza i gdyby nie "dwa grzechy główne", to być może nie zwróciłbym na nie uwagi. W moich notatkach do recenzji, dominują głównie plusy. Chodzi o długość i nadmiar treści, film na pewnym etapie ciągnął się jak ślimak na drodze. Nie było to nudne... Tzn. było, ale nie w sensie "słabe i nudne", bo jak przeanalizowałem sobie te sceny na spokojnie, to do większości z nich nie mam zarzutów. Mówię to z perspektywy rzetelnego recenzenta, który ma niezły gust i potrafi odróżnić dobry produkt od gówna (a przynajmniej tak mi się wydaje, oceńcie sami czy słusznie), jak i zwykłego widza, który chciał zobaczyć dobry film. Problem wynika z tego, że treści jest po prostu za dużo i "The Batman" był dla mnie nudniejszy niż bezpiecznie zrobione "Dune". Gdyby uciąć z niego 40-50 minut, to IMO by jedynie zyskał. Problem jest taki, że nie wiem, co można wyciąć. Tzn. jasne, znajdzie się kilka rzeczy, które można bez problemu skasować, ale to nie będzie więcej niż 30 minut wg mnie. Resztę trzeba byłoby po prostu skrócić, ale też rozwinąć niektóre sprawy - tj. te, które dostały zbyt mało czasu antenowego. Kończąc - sceny akcji są DOBRE, nie ma złych aktorów, słabo napisanych ról. Jeżeli nie przeszkadza Wam fakt, że będziecie musieli siedzieć 3 godziny w kinie + część materiału może Was nadmiernie nużyć, to nie powinniście narzekać.
Ok, a teraz zapraszam resztę czytelników na ciąg dalszy wrażeń po seansie. Highlightem tego filmu jest moim zdaniem Colin Farell. Pierdolony Colin Farrell, który doskonale wcielił się w rolę Pingwina. Jego rola tak mnie oszołomiła, że nadal nie wierzę że to on. Być może z czasem zmienię zdanie, ale na dzisiaj jestem nim kurewsko zauroczony. Jego Pingwin, to cyniczny i zabawny comic relief, a jednocześnie świetnie pokazany mafiozo (zresztą, cała Mafia Gotham została pokazana bardzo dobrze!). Okrutny, bezwzględny i nie głupi. Z cudownym głosem i doskonałą mimiką, często się szczerze śmiałem z jego tekstów lub sytuacji, w jakich się znalazł. Bardzo podobała mi się jego relacja z Vengeance, kpienie z niego, jak i całego otoczenia. Colin bawił się tą rolą, a scenarzysta wraz z nim - ucieczka przed Batmanem to pierdolone złoto, wraz z zakończeniem tego wątku - zaśmiałem się. Albo jego kpiąca odpowiedź względem Batmana - "To burmistrz? No szkoda w chuj. Sorry, ja tu jestem tylko szefem, nie wiem co robią moi klienci xD". Taki pozytywny skurwiel, być może najlepszy Villain w historii filmów z Batmanem (patrząc z mojej, subiektywnej perspektywy), a na pewno jeden z najlepszych, patrząc na dotychczasowe portfolio tej marki. Farrell zasłużył na nominację do Oscarów na kolejnej ceremonii. Riddler wyszedł dobrze, podobała mi się jego kreacja aroganckiego i zapatrzonego w siebie dupka. Trochę mi nie pasuje jego sadyzm (aczkolwiek znam go tylko z filmów, animacji i gier), zwłaszcza w scenach, które mógłbym zobaczyć w "SAW" (szczury na twarzy, zrobienie z prokuratora żywej bomby), ale nie mam wobec tego większych zarzutów. To pełnoprawna postać, która jest całkowicie spójna i dostaliśmy bardzo dobre uzasadnienie. To sierota, podobnie jak Batman, która dorastała tak, jak prawdziwe sieroty w tamtym mieście - bez pieniędzy, w strasznym brudzie, wśród narkomanów, w warunkach urągających ludzkości, bez nadziei na lepsze jutro. To że jego frustracja urosła do takich rozmiarów, to nic nienormalnego. Robert Pattinson jako Batman & Bruce Wayne, wyszedł naprawdę dobrze. Nie jestem zdziwiony, od początku broniłem tego castingu i mam nadzieję, że dostaniemy co najmniej 3 filmy z jego udziałem. Mam wobec niego tylko dwa zarzuty - za mało Bruce'a + jest zbyt chudy, niech przytyje i nabierze mięśni do sequela. Nadal preferuję Bena Afflecka (wg mnie najlepszy aktor do tej roli, a przynajmniej jeden z najlepszych), ale do Roberta nie mam absolutnie żadnych, istotnych zarzutów. Jest doskonałym, inteligentnym detektywem (kurwa, nareszcie, ile lat czekałem aż to zobaczymy w filmowej wersji!), który umie uderzyć w ryj, a przestępcy są zesrani ze strachu, gdy go zobaczą lub padną z głośnym hukiem na glebę. Spełniły się marzenia mojego przyjaciela Wojtka o zobaczeniu Batmana detektywa-skurwiela na ekranie.
Sposób przedstawiania brutalności i klimat niektórych sytuacji bardzo mi się kojarzył z Batman TAS. W filmie pozwolili sobie na nieco więcej, brutalność jest wprost pokazana i to momentami w bardzo sugestywny sposób, ale nie bezpośrednio. 11-letnie dziecko zobaczy mocne sceny (i gdybym miał syna w takim wieku, na pewno poszedłbym z nim do kina), ale w nieco ograniczonej, ukrytej formie. Tak samo skąpo ubrane panienki z lokali mafiozów, które pokazano tak, by nie psuć za bardzo 13-latków. Generalnie film jest bardzo satysfakcjonujący, jeśli chodzi o bicie przestępców, Batmana i jego gadżety, sceny akcji, efektowne zagadki Riddlera. Nie wszystkie były udane, a nawet było ich zbyt dużo, ale "The Batman" jest bardzo ładnie nakręcony i zrealizowany, warto obejrzeć w kinie. Zwłaszcza, jeśli podobnie jak ja, uwielbiacie "The Animated Series", przy scenach z policją, czy w niektórych ujęciach Gotham, czułem się jakby to był ten sam świat Napisałem o nadmiarze scen, chodzi mi o to, że można byłoby ograniczyć rolę Riddlera. Wraz z dziewczyną mieliśmy podobne spostrzeżenie - niektóre jego akcje były zbędne, męczyły zamiast sprawiać frajdę. W rozmowie między nami, dodałem że na papierze ten pomysł był dobry - dzięki temu fabuła była wypchana dużą ilością dobrej treści, intryga była rozbudowana, ale... Mam wrażenie że zbyt dużo. Nie wiem, jak oceniają ten film inni recenzenci - wstrzymuję się przed poznaniem ich opinii, bo nie chcę się sugerować podczas pisania swojego tekstu. Do wątku z mafią nie mam absolutnie żadnych zarzutów, był świetny. Gadałem o filmie tylko z Asią i Tomaszem, który również był wczoraj w kinie (znajomy, który obserwuję od wielu lat mój profil na FB), więc nie wiem jak reszta ocenia jego pacing. Dla mnie był zbyt rozciągnięty i warto byłoby wyrzucić kilka rzeczy, nawet jeśli były dobre. Byłem nimi zwyczajnie przeładowany o co najmniej 30 minut. Można było zamknąć wątek Riddlera na rozmowie z Batmanem w więzieniu (która była znakomita!) i wyrzucić wszystko, co stało się później przez niego Dosłownie wszystko. Film tego w moim mniemaniu nie potrzebował, a nawet wyszłoby mu to na lepsze. A skoro o tym gadam, mogli wyrzucić parę innych, zbędnych minut i w to miejsce rozbudować relację z Alfredem. Ta co prawda została wyraźnie pokazana, zobaczyłem w niej większość rzeczy, które kojarzę z recenzji komiksów, które słucham na YT, ale było tego zbyt mało i jestem rozczarowany. Zasłużyli na zdecydowanie więcej czasu razem. To samo mogę powiedzieć o Bruce, którego było zdecydowanie zbyt mało w tym filmie! Co prawda, jak już się pojawił, to Robert Pattinson robił bardzo dobrą robotę, ale miał zdecydowanie za mało okazji, w których był bez kostiumu.
Reasumując - nie wiem, czy mogę Wam polecić ten film, ale na pewno uważam go za dobrą produkcję. Czy najlepszą w historii tej marki? Póki co nie wiem, to ocenię po premierze filmu na HBO Max, która będzie za miesiąc.
