When I first heard about the positive opinions about the trailer for the movie "Last night in Soho", I ignored them at first. Mainly because I do not know this director's films, but I will definitely watch "Baby Driver" - especially after watching this trailer. Yesterday night I had some free time after watching episode 11 of the 2nd season of "Full Metal Panic", so out of curiosity, I entered what I needed in the YT search engine. And let me tell you that this announcement is actually a miracle. And this on several levels.
Starting with different genres - we see a thriller here, maybe some erotic, horror, maybe paranormal elements or imaginations of the main character, some criminal plot ... Wow, this mix promises to be just wonderful! Especially since the trailer throws up a lot of ideas that can be interpreted differently and each of them is equally likely. Just as I often disagree with the arguments of people that "they throw so many trailers that you can make a movie out of it" (because in my opinion it is overused and only in some films makes sense - e.g. in the case of "Broly" it was ), so in this case, I will not be watching the next announcements. Not because I will see too much but only rarely do I see such an intriguing film, and I wouldn't want to spoil that feeling. I prefer to see it in the cinema, without any prior suggestions. The second level is execution. I saw him 3 times, each time clapping my hands at the very end. Neon signs, playing with colors, using cliché scenes from horror movies and more (e.g. "Black Swan", which in turn was clearly inspired by the anime "Perfect Blue" - I highly recommend both of them!), Which we have seen many times, but here it is presented in a beautiful form and with very talented actors! Especially Anya Taylor-Joy who looks just stunning here, I "fell in love" with her while watching Queen's Gambit and I hope I won't be disappointed ... I heard that this Edgar Wright is a very experienced and creative creator, I assume so she knows how to lead the actors. The same goes for the aforementioned scenes, which we have seen many times in the cinema - it can be a kind of deconstruction. This is to be expected from some of the things Mr. Wright has unveiled in this teaser - like that cracking screen at the end of the movie or earlier moments. The third level is a gathering point for directing, creating an exceptionally atmospheric atmosphere, selecting and editing music ... Well, just one of the best trailers in the last decade, and for me - the best preview of this year so far. I doubt anyone will beat him because the crossbar is hanging fucking high!
I don't know what about you, but I'm going to watch it as soon as possible, maybe even for the pre-premiere, because I can't wait to finally watch it.
