What can you do with a brand that used to be super popular, but has not been as recognizable for many years? Depends on the medium. Sometimes, regardless of it, the best solution is to create a simple, good and universal story that everyone will understand. It doesn't matter if it's a nerd who knows this world at its fingertips, someone who knows it only through friends and games (me), a person who knows something about fantasy, but it's much less knowledge than me (my girlfriend) or a lot of grandparents, or grandmothers who only know LotR or other Narnia. Often, such productions are only good, providing entertainment for a given time, or they do not tire us when we watch them during a hangover or after a hard day at work.
Mainly because of an average script, average actors who are averagely involved in the fate of a given character and generally average quality entertainment. The DnD movie is just such a simple production, but not vulgar, like the worse Marvel and DC productions (the malicious would say all or most of them). And the script, although simple, is not full of holes and plays well with the source material. This can be seen in the textbook Easter eggs, scriptwriters, learn, this is how it's done!!! Even though the actors had simple roles (they are distinguished by one feature above all), they could be called one-dimensional, they played convincingly and I felt a chemistry between them that reminded me of the atmosphere of a well-realized RPG session. It is also clear that the creators did their homework and right after introducing a new hero or heroine, they gave them one scene thanks to which they could present themselves and be remembered by us, the viewers. Overall, a simple idea was very well implemented. While I had some minor complaints about a few things, I can't really complain. I feel like I saw a student who took a hard set of questions on a test and still did really well!
Ok, the visual effects could be a bit better. Some elements of the choreography are a bit plastic, as is the case with "The Witcher" from Netflix or "Wheel of Time" from Prime, but for me it's like editing - if it's at least good + the rest of the film is ok, then I don't pay attention to it. Characters without depth? Well, time had to be devoted to other elements, for example showing the world, presenting magic, a simple intrigue, uncomplicated fate of the characters, so there was not enough room for other elements. In such a situation, I prefer when such less the extensive elements are, above all, coherent and understandable. Especially since the creators did their best to include as many aspects from the Dungeons and Dragons universe as possible and present them in the best possible form. The Staff acting like the Portal Gun from the Valve game was my favorite. My rating it's 8/10. I highly recommend it!
The next two films will be much shorter. In the case of TF, it's because it's "just a good action movie." In the case of the second item... I will say this, I am not a fan of Nicolas Cage and I have never understood why he is so liked (maybe I haven't seen something, but I know a lot of much better actors). I'm not saying he's a bad actor, but for me he doesn't show any outstanding talent. I could say this even more about Pedro Pascal, who we will also see here. This film is a production for lovers of B-class cinema, old films, and, above all, the actor's work. There are plenty of references to large and smaller films, cleverly combined clichés from B-class action movies - quotes, recreations of famous scenes, Cage's comments (I really liked his honesty about himself and his mistakes), and other forms of references. Even though I fell asleep on it towards the end, I can't criticize it. You're welcome, not my type of movie. A friend recommended it to me, it bored me a bit, but I also laughed and nodded when I saw a good script... So I don't regret it at all. If you love this actor, this is the movie for you. No rating on my part because I don't know how to rate it. A valuable, technically well-made production, but I didn't like it.
Earlier I said that the new part of TF is "just a good action movie". Even though I initially wanted to say it was very good, in the end I stopped at "7/10. I had a nice time, but if it weren't for the fact that I'm a fan of this franchise, I would have forgotten about this movie after a week." I was charmed by the fanservice and numerous references (verbal and visual) to the first season and the closing film of Generation One, which is also fanservice. Unfortunately, it's hard to say anything more about this film. No element is super good (apart from what I've already written) or super bad. It's not average either, it's just solid work, but without any bells and whistles. It continues the Bumblebee storyline nicely, and if you haven't seen it or don't like this franchise, you're missing out. But you can have a nice time in your free time. And for the fans, I will say this - during the screening I had the impression that I went back to my teenage years and watched a special episode of TF or an alternative (worse) version of the movie with Unicron. Apart from one small mistake - Prime is a title from what I remember, not a name - in reference to the first meeting of Optimus and the leader of the Maximals. Apart from this, everything else is probably 100% consistent with the "mythology" of this universe.

Czasem niezależnie od niego, najlepszym rozwiązaniem jest stworzenie prostej, dobrej i uniwersalnej historii, którą zrozumie każdy. Nie ważne, czy to nerd mający ten świat w małym palcu, ktoś znający to tylko dzięki znajomym i grom (ja), osoba która coś tam wie o fantasy, ale jest to wiedza dalece mniejsza niż u mnie (moja dziewczyna) lub dużo dziadków, czy babć którzy znają tylko LotR, czy inną Narnię. Często takie produkcje są jedynie niezłe, zapewniając rozrywkę na dany czas lub nie męczą, gdy oglądamy je podczas kaca lub po ciężkim dniu w pracy.
Głównie przez średni scenariusz, średnio dobranych aktorów, którzy średnio angażują się w losy danej postaci i generalnie średniej jakości rozrywkę. Film DnD jest właśnie taką prostą produkcją, ale nie prostacką, jak te gorsze produkcje Marvela i DC (złośliwi by powiedzieli że wszystkie lub większość). No i scenariusz choć jest prosty, to nie dziurawy i dobrze bawi się materiałem źródłowym. Widać to po podręcznikowo wrzuconych easter-eggach, scenarzyści uczcie się, tak to się robi!!! Aktorzy mimo że mieli proste role (wyróżnia ich przede wszystkim jedna cecha), można ich nazwać jednowymiarowymi, zagrali przekonywująco i czułem między nimi chemię, która przypomina mi atmosferę dobrze zrealizowanej sesji RPG. Widać też że twórcy odrobili lekcje i zaraz po przedstawieniu nowego bohatera lub bohaterki, dając im jedną scenę, dzięki której mogli się zaprezentować i zostać zapamiętanymi przez nas, widzów. Generalnie prosty pomysł został bardzo dobrze zrealizowany. Choć miałem pewne drobne zarzuty wobec paru rzeczy, to nie jestem w stanie narzekać. Czuję się jakbym widział ucznia, który wylosował ciężki zestaw pytań na teście i poradził sobie mimo to naprawdę dobrze!

Staff działający jak Portal Gun z gry Valve był moim ulubionym. Moja ocena to 8/10. Bardzo polecam!
O dwóch kolejnych filmach będzie znacznie krócej. W przypadku TF wynika to z tego, że to "po prostu dobry film akcji". W przypadku drugiej pozycji... Powiem tak, nie jestem fanem Nicolasa Cage'a i nigdy nie rozumiałem za co jest tak lubiany (może czegoś nie widziałem, ale znam mnóstwo dużo lepszych aktorów). Nie mówię że to zły aktor, tylko dla mnie nie przejawia wybitnego talentu. Już bardziej mógłbym to powiedzieć o Pedro Pascalu, którego również tutaj zobaczymy. Ten film to produkcja dla miłośników kina klasy B, starych filmów, a przede wszystkim twórczości tego aktora. Mamy tu mnóstwo nawiązań do dużych, mniejszych filmów, sprytnie połączone klisze z kina akcji klasy B - cytaty, odtwarzanie słynnych scen, komentarze Cage'a (bardzo spodobała mi się jego szczerość względem samego siebie i swoich błędów), czy nawiązania w innej formie. Mimo, że zasnąłem na nim pod koniec, to nie jestem w stanie go skrytykować. Nie mam za co, nie mój typ kina. Znajomy mi go polecił, trochę mnie znudził, ale też się pośmiałem, pokiwałem głową widząc dobry scenariusz... Więc nie żałuję ani trochę. Jeżeli uwielbiacie tego aktora, to jest to pozycja dla Was. Bez oceny z mojej strony, bo nie wiem jak go ocenić. Wartościowy, technicznie dobrze zrealizowana produkcja, ale no nie spodobała mi się.

Zauroczył mnie fanserwis i liczne nawiązania (słowne i wizualne) do pierwszego sezonu i filmu wieńczącego Generation One, czyli również fanserwis. Niestety trudno powiedzieć coś więcej o tym filmie. Żaden element nie jest super dobry (poza tym, co już napisałem) ani super zły. Nie jest też przeciętny, to po prostu solidna robota, ale bez wodotrysków. Fajnie kontynuuje wątki z Bumblebee, a jeżeli go nie widzieliście lub nie lubicie tej franczyzy, to niewiele tracicie. Za to możecie miło spędzić wolny czas. A dla fanów powiem tak - podczas seansu miałem wrażenie, że cofnąłem się do czasów nastoletnich i obejrzałem odcinek specjalny TF lub alternatywną (gorszą) wersję filmu z Unicronem. Poza jednym drobnym błędem - Prime to tytuł z tego co pamiętam, nie imię - tak w nawiązaniu do pierwszego spotkania Optimusa i lidera Maximali. Pomijając to, cała reszta jest chyba w 100% zgodna z "mitologią" tego uniwersum.
