It's no news James Gunn the new CEO of DC Universe has decided to reboot the DC and close the chapter of the DCEU with Aquaman 2: The Lost Kingdom. The reboot will start with Superman Legacy which James Gunn is personally writing and going to direct. Superman Legacy is set to be released on July 11, 2025, which is a long time. I just hope James Gunn delivers because this movie will shape the future of the DC Universe.
Enough of Superman and the DC reboot today I want to talk about how the DCEU failed to give us a Ben Affleck solo Batman movie all these years which I consider a crime because we the fans deserve it. Ben Affleck Batman was first introduced in Batman Vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice which was released in 2016.
Batman Vs Superman's story was based on fear, hate, and power. Bruce hated Superman after the Man of Steel black zero events. I know you are wondering what it was well it was the clash between Superman Vs General Zod and his Kryptonian army. The fight was devastating and it crumbled the City of the Metropolis and Gotham City.
Bruce saw all this event unfold and lost a close employee in his company from that day the knight of Gotham changed and became brutal in stopping criminals. There is a sense in Batman vs Superman where the GCPD came to free girls who were held hostage and the girls refused to come out of the cage.
They were terrified and told the GCPD officer that Bat is still up in the building when the GCPD officer went into the upper room he found the criminal handcuffed to a table, and as he approached closer he saw the Bat logo engraved on the criminal body. Bruce was already preparing for battle against Superman and even when Alfred tried to tell him Superman was not their enemy Bruce refused to listen to Alfred and kept on researching Superman.
The first time Batman and Superman met was in a chase where Batman was chasing down some criminals. Superman appeared from nowhere and stood in front of Batman who was driving at full speed. Batman saw Superman but refused to stop the Batmobile and hit Superman, but it did not affect the man of steel as the Batmobile flew away and crashed.
Superman went straight to the Batmobile, opened it and told Batman "The next time they shine your light in the sky don't go to it. The Bat is dead, bury it, consider this mercy". As Superman was about to take off Batman asked him a question "Do you bleed". it’s my favourite line in the movie. It captured how Batman was fearless against the all-powerful man of steel.
There was a rumour Ben Affleck was going to direct a solo Batman movie, but Warner Bros was going back and front, and this made Ben Affleck drop out of the project. The main villain would have been Deathstroke if Ben Affleck was allowed to direct the movie. Sadly, we won’t be able to get Ben Affleck Batman movie because I don’t think James Gunn has any plans of bringing him into the DCU. It was an incredible journey for Ben Affleck, and I wish the best of luck on his journey.
