Uno de los estrenos que más estaba ansiando de Netflix para el mes de Octubre por fin fue estrenado y tan pronto tuve la oportunidad de verlo no dudé en hacerlo, porque solo con saber que Jessica Chastain y Eddie Redmayne iban a ser las figuras protagónicas, daba por interesante el proyecto.

One of the premieres that I was most looking forward to on Netflix for the month of October was finally released and as soon as I had the opportunity to see it I did not hesitate to do it, because just knowing that Jessica Chastain and Eddie Redmayne were going to be the leading figures, they thought the project was interesting.

La película, basada en hechos reales, narra la vida personal y laboral de enfermera (Amy) de la UCI que solicita ayuda en el departamento donde trabaja debido a la demanda de pacientes y la ausencia de personal, es por ello que le asignan un nuevo compañero de trabajo (Charlie), con quien rápidamente entabla una relación laboral y personal pero fugaz (por lo que pude ver en el film); pero al poco tiempo de su llegada, comienzan a ocurrir situaciones en la UCI que pone en peligro la vida de pacientes y de la misma Amy.

The film, based on real events, narrates the personal and working life of a nurse (Amy) from the ICU who asks for help in the department where she works due to the demand of patients and the absence of staff, it is for which is why they assign him a new co-worker (Charlie), with whom he quickly establishes a labor and personal but fleeting relationship (from what I could see in the film); but shortly after her arrival, situations begin to occur in the ICU that endanger the lives of patients and herself Amy.

La vida de la enfermera Amy transcurre con cierta normalidad, hasta que un día comienza a presentar problemas de salud y es ahí donde es diagnosticada de "miocardiopatía" (es un grupo de enfermedades que afectan el corazón), todo esto mientras es madre soltera de dos niñas y debe trabajar largos turnos en el hospital para sacar adelante a sus hijas ella sola.

The life of the nurse Amy goes on with a certain normality, until one day she begins to present health problems and that is where she is diagnosed with "cardiomyopathy" (it is a group of diseases that the heart arises), all this while she is a single mother of two girls and must work long shifts in the hospital to support her daughters on her own.

Luego de pedir que le sea agregado personal enfermero a su turno nocturno para ayudarla, llega Charlie, un experimentado enfermero que cumplirá la función de ayuda extra en ese turno con _Amy, con quien compagina a la perfección y por ende, entablan una relación laboral y personal fuerte, a tal punto de que Amy pide a su nuevo compañero que su condición de salud no sea revelado a nadie puesto que podría perder su empleo y no obtendría seguro médico para operarse.

After requesting that sick personnel be added to her night shift to help her, Charlie arrives, an experienced sick person who will fulfill the function of extra help on that shift with Amy, with whom she combines perfection and therefore, they establish a strong work and personal relationship, to the point that Amy asks her new partner that her health condition not be revealed to anyone since she could lose her job and would not get medical insurance to operate.

Poco después de la llegada de Charlie, comienzan a ocurrir muertes inesperadas de pacientes dentro de la UCI en el turno en el que ambos trabajan; es entonces cuando el hospital y la policía comienzan una ardua investigación para determinar la causa de tantas muertes en esa área del hospital, sin saber que empezarían a encontrar más de lo que estaban buscando y que todo apuntaría directamente hacia Charlie.

Shortly after Charlie arrives, unexpected patient deaths begin to occur inside the ICU on the shift they both work; It is then that the hospital and the police begin an arduous investigation to determine the cause of so many deaths in that area of the hospital, not knowing that they would begin to find more than what they were looking for and that everything would point directly to Charlie .

La historia se desarrolla en hechos reales ocurridos desde el año 1996 en Pensilvania, hasta el año 2003, cuando fue arrestado y procesado por asesinar a más de 29 personas (luego la cifra ascendió por lo menos hasta 400 víctimas), fue sentenciado a 18 cadenas perpetuas y se ha convertido en el asesino serial más grande en la historia, aunque solo haya confesado 29 de esos asesinatos, dado que no recordaba el nombre de sus otras víctimas pero si la forma en las que murieron.

The story unfolds in real events that occurred from 1996 in Pennsylvania, until 2003, when he was arrested and prosecuted for murdering more than 29 people (later the figure rose to at least 400 victims), he was sentenced to 18 life sentences and has become the biggest serial killer in history, although he has only confessed to 29 of those murders, since he did not remember the name of his other victims but the way in which they died.

Es un película de suspenso criminal y vaya que te te deja en suspenso. Fue un trabajo que se notó el tiempo que les llevó convertirlo en realidad, aunque se vea que haya sido fácil de producir, no lo fue. 6 años para adaptar el libro y conseguir al cast que interpretara los papeles principales y secundarios más relevantes en la historia. Se llevó su tiempo en producción y valió la pena porque el film es sumamente bueno.

It's a crime thriller and boy does it leave you in suspense. It was a job that the time it took them to turn it into reality was noted, although it looks like it was easy to produce, it was not. 6 years to adapt the book and get the cast to play the most important main and secondary roles in the story. It took its time in production and it was worth it because the film is extremely good.

Las actuaciones de Jessica Chastain y Eddie Redmayne son una cosa merecedora de nominaciones por montón. Jessica no ha dejado de sorprenderme en ningún papel, es una mujer camaleona y lo hace con tanta gracia y convicción que te cautiva, es una actriz de altura. Eddie no puede ser subestimado, nunca; una vez más ha demostrado su capacidad para encarnar un personajes mentalmente inestable pero controlado y calmado en el exterior (casi siempre).

The performances of Jessica Chastain and Eddie Redmayne are a nomination-worthy thing. Jessica has never stopped surprising me in any role, she is a chameleon woman and she does it with such grace and conviction that she captivates you, she is a tall actress. Eddie cannot be underestimated, ever; he once again has shown his ability to embody mentally unstable characters but controlled and calm on the outside (almost always).

Ambos actores lograron adentrarnos en los eventos que que ocurrieron en el hospital y fuera de él de tal manera que parecía que ambos había vivido esa historia en carne propia. La dirección estuvo muy bien cuidada, dieron justo en el blanco. Ambientaron todo con tonos oscuros y propios del género, pero además la banda sonora dio el toque final para complementar los elementos anteriores. Lo que si puedo resaltar y que ciertamente me cautivó más en el film fueron los silencios dentro de toda la historia; la manera tan correcta de utilizarlos en los momentos justos y necesarios hicieron que el suspenso creciera aún más, no hubo excesos de silencios, fueron puestos todos a propósito y los amé por eso.

Both actors managed to get us into the events that occurred in the hospital and outside of it in such a way that it seemed that both had lived that story in their own flesh. The direction was very well taken care of, they hit the mark right on target. They set everything with dark tones and typical of the genre, but also the soundtrack gave the final touch to complement the previous elements. What I can highlight and that certainly captivated me the most in the film were the silences within the entire story; the correct way of using them at the right and necessary moments made the suspense grow even more, there were no excesses of silence, they were all put on purpose and I loved them for that.

Otras actuaciones que debo resaltar fueron las de los actores que interpretaron a los investigadores encargados de armar y seguir el caso, pero en particular la actuación de Nnamdi Asomugha, es la primera vez que lo veo actuar y me sorprendió bastante su trabajo. De igual forma, la actuación de Alix West Lefler, la joven actriz que interpretó a la hija mayor de Chastain, un trabajo relativamente corto dentro del film pero que debo resaltar porque para ser tan joven, logró hacer su papel bastante bien.

Other performances that I must highlight were those of the actors who played the investigators in charge of putting together and following the case, but in particular the performance of Nnamdi Asomugha, it is the first time I see him act and I was quite surprised his work. Similarly, the performance of Alix West Lefler, the young actress who played the eldest daughter of Chastain, a relatively short job within the film but I must highlight because to be so young, he managed to play his role quite well.

Fueron 2 horas bien justificadas de película, no creo que debieron agregar o eliminar nada, se contó justo lo que fue necesario y nada sobró o faltó. La escena que más eco hace en mi cabeza se encuentra casi al final de film, es un trabajo de 3 actores recreados en una sala de confesiones donde Redmayne da todo y más, vale la pena llegar hasta ese punto de la película para entender esa escena, es de verdad muy interesante de ver y analizar.

They were 2 well-justified hours of film, I don't think they should have added or eliminated anything, just what was necessary was told and nothing was left over or missing. The scene that echoes the most in my head is almost at the end of the film, it is a work of 3 actors recreated in a confession room where Redmayne gives everything and more, it is worth getting to that point in the film to understand that scene, it is really very interesting to see and analyze.
