Revisando el catálogo de películas disponibles sobre navidad que se estrenaran este año, me encontré con esta película de Netflix de la cual no había oído hablar ni leído de ella en ningún lado, así que la vi sin siquiera pasarme a ver el trailer porque quería verla sin tener ningún dato adicional sobre la película.

Going through the catalog of Christmas movies available that were released this year, I came across this Netflix movie that I hadn't heard of or read about anywhere, so I watched it without even going to see the trailer because I wanted to see it without having any additional information about the film.

Lo que si me percaté fue del elenco y aunque solo conocía al protagonista masculino, le di la oportunidad porque creí que sería una película muy apegada al estilo navideño pero no fue así, aunque si existen aspectos que la mantienen unida a una película de este tipo festivo, creo que es ciertamente diferente a otras que haya visto sobre navidad o relacionado con las fiestas navideñas.

What I did notice was the cast and although I only knew the male lead, I gave it the opportunity because I thought it would be a movie very attached to the Christmas style but it was not like that, although there are aspects that keep it together with a movie of this type. festive, I think it is certainly different from others that I have seen about Christmas or related to the Christmas holidays.

La película está catalogada dentro del género drama y eso me llamó la atención porque a simple vista tiene todos los elementos para ser puesta dentro del género rom-com, esa fue mi primera impresión al ver los primeros minutos de la película y conforme avanzaba la película, se disipaba de a poco esa idea.

The film is classified within the drama genre and that caught my attention because at first glance it has all the elements to be placed within the rom-com genre, that was my first impression when I saw the first minutes of the film and as the film progressed Little by little, that idea was dissipated.

"The Noel Diary" tiene una premisa bastante interesante; Jake/Jacob un escritor exitoso y rico se hace cargo de la casa de su infancia y ahí conoce a una mujer, Rachel, quien recién comienza una carrera como traductora, que podría complicarle la vida llevándolo a una montaña rusa de situaciones que compromete su vida en solitario con la vida de comprometida de la protagonista femenina, todo esto ocurre durante la época navideña la cual pasa a segundo plano porque realmente no es el tema principal de la película.

"The Noel Diary" has quite an interesting premise; Jake/Jacob a successful and wealthy writer takes over his childhood home and there he meets a woman, Rachel, who is just beginning a career as a translator, who could make life difficult for him by taking him to a roller coaster of situations that compromises his life alone with the engaged life of the female protagonist, all this occurs during the Christmas season which takes a backseat because it is not really the main theme of the film.

Aunque si hay importancia de la época navideña dentro de la historia y forma parte importante dentro de un evento que marca al protagonista, creo que fue usado como una buena excusa para vender un poco la película como navideña, aunque al verla te das cuenta de que ciertamente no lo es del todo.

Although the Christmas season is important in the story and it forms an important part of an event that marks the protagonist, I think it was used as a good excuse to sell the film a bit as Christmas, although when you see it you realize that certainly not at all.

Nada de lo mencionado anteriormente desestima la película, creo que tienen una premisa interesante. Algo que destacó para mi dentro de la historia de la película, fue el hecho de que la protagonista está en busca de mi madre materna y ahí donde conoce al protagonista, dado que la última dirección de trabajo de su madre biológica es la casa que ahora debe cuidar el protagonista.

Nothing mentioned above dismisses the movie, I think they have an interesting premise. Something that stood out for me within the story of the film was the fact that the protagonist is looking for my maternal mother and that is where she meets the protagonist, given that the last work address of her biological mother is the house that she now The protagonist must take care of it.

La relación de ambos crece en base a esa premisa, conocer que relación tiene la madre biológica de la protagonista con la familia del protagonista y ahí comienza a desarrollarse todo el film.

Comienzan ambos a involucrarse de lleno a resolver este misterio (del cual el protagonista por ser un escritor exitoso en el género de misterio y romance) para dar con el paradero de esta mujer y así reconectar con su madre biológica antes de dar el si en el altar con un comprometido "Alan", con el fin de llenar una vacío que ha sentido durante toda su vida. La relación que desarrollaron los protagonistas fue extraña desde el inicio, luego de saber que ella estaba comprometida, se me hizo más rara; es justo que la catalogaran drama porque romantizar la infidelidad fue un gran punto en contra para mi, por más ficción que pueda ser, romantizarlo es solo decir que está bien hacerlo.

They both begin to get fully involved in solving this mystery (of which the protagonist is a successful writer in the mystery and romance genre) to find the whereabouts of this woman and thus reconnect with her biological mother before saying yes. at the altar with a committed "Alan", in order to fill a void she's felt her entire life. The relationship that the protagonists developed was strange from the beginning, after knowing that she was engaged, it became more strange to me; It is fair that they classified it as a drama because romanticizing infidelity was a great point against me, as much fiction as it may be, romanticizing it is just saying that it is okay to do it.

Toda la historia transcurre en 1 hora y 40 minutos, bastante tiempo para cubrir la historia, aunque dejaron algunas interrogantes pendientes, solo un par, más allá de eso, estuvo bien desarrollada la historia. Todos las historias que se presentaron en la película tuvieron un cierra, salvo la de la madre biológica de la protagonista, quedó su cierre en espera.

The whole story takes place in 1 hour and 40 minutes, enough time to cover the story, although they left some questions pending, only a couple, beyond that, the story was well developed. All the stories that were presented in the film had a closure, except that of the biological mother of the protagonist, its closure was on hold.

Lo que si me gustó fue que aunque no fue una película navideña, aunque el título difiere sobre este punto que hago, se esforzaron en presentar la navidad de forma secundaria, no le quitó el espacio a la historia pero tampoco fue olvidada por completo. No se sintió una película exagerada o saturada de navidad, como ocurre en otras, incluso en los filtros que utilizaron, se manejaron muchos tonos oscuros porque lo requería la locación en la que grabaron y la historia que esta relacionada con drama.

What I did like was that although it was not a Christmas movie, although the title differs on this point that I make, they made an effort to present Christmas in a secondary way, it did not take away the space from the story but it was not completely forgotten either. It did not feel like an exaggerated or saturated Christmas movie, as it happens in others, even in the filters they used, many dark tones were used because the location in which they recorded and the story that is related to drama required it.

Los efectos especiales fueron pocos, otra vez se repite el de la nieve falsa cayendo, aunque por más que me molestó verla durante todo la película, pude superarlo. El uso de la cámara lenta en momentos específicos fueron extraños a mi parecer, completamente innecesarios; parecía una mala película de TV la que estaba viendo, no creo que haya sido astuto hacer uso de ese recurso.

The special effects were few, once again the fake snow falling is repeated, although as much as it annoyed me to see it throughout the film, I was able to overcome it. The use of slow motion at specific moments was strange to me, completely unnecessary; It looked like a bad TV movie I was watching, I don't think it was smart to use that resource.

¿La volvería a ver? No lo sé.
