  1. Movie Review of The Noel Diary(2022).@esther-emmanuel1290d

    IMG_20221216_145206.jpg

Seeing Justin Hartley on the poster of this movie made me quickly stream the movie to watch and I must confess, this movie made me emotional at the end. Any movie he acts in I make sure to watch any as he is one of the actors I crush on. I got a crush on him when he acted as the green arrow in the Smallville TV series. Since then he has been my guy, but unfortunately, he doesn't act in many movies, and in this movie his performance was spectacular. This might just be one of the best Christmas movies I have seen this year because all the ones I have watched recently can't be measured up to this one.

The Noel Diary is an American romantic comedy and Christmas-themed movie that was released in November 2022 with Netflix as the distributor. The movie was directed and written by Charles Shyer. Also, the movie is based on and adapted from the romantic drama novella, with the same title 'The Noel Diary' written by Richard Paul Evans. It starred; Justin Hartley, Barrett Doss, Essence Atkins, Bonnie Bedelia, and James Remar. The storyline of this movie revolves around a famous bestselling author who received a call about his mother's departure. Then he returns home to reconcile with his past but meets a beautiful lady whose path was deeply intertwined with his.

The movie begins with the background story of Jake Turner (Justin Hartley), a famous bestselling author who received a call of his mother's death and his mother willing her estate to him. It's been a decade since Jake spoke to his mother but he decides it was time he got to reconcile with his past by sorting his estate ownership and properties. So when he got to his mother's estate, he realized a lot of things had to be sorted out, but then met a beautiful lady, Rachel who told him she was looking for her biological mother who worked as a nanny in Jake's mother's estate who happens to be Jake's nanny.

    IMG_20221216_150256.jpg

As the movie progressed, Jake convinced Rachel to stay behind so they could find out more about her mother from his mother's next-door neighbor as his memory of Rachel's mother was fuzzy. She stayed behind and ended up discovering a diary in the possession of Jake which happened to belong to Rachel's mother which all that surrounds her birth. Along the line, Jake and Rachel decided to seek out Jake's father who might know the current location of Rachel's mother, and there, Jake and Rachel's path got intertwined as they both prepared to confront their past together. The story begins. Will Jake reconcile with his past? Will Rachel get to meet her birth mother? You have to watch the movie to know how it all ends.

    My Review And Rating.

This movie made me emotional and made me giggle. It was a fantastic watch for me. It felt like I was truly watching a Christmas movie. It captured the spirit of Christmas for me. This is one of the best Christmas movies of this year. Some people negatively criticized this movie because they didn't grow up watching Hallmark movies and it just cracks me up. I wouldn't say this movie was perfect 100% as it has some flaws that made it unique in its way. Even with some flaws, I was impressed with this movie. It is the kind of movie where you can just sit curled up on the sofa with a hot chocolate and a warm blanket and at the end give you butterflies.

The actors in this movie were fantastic with their performances, especially Justin Hartley. Barrett Doss also stole the stage with her performance when she sang while Justin played the piano. That scene was amazing because I never expected Barrett to have a sweet voice and coupled with the chemistry that brewed between the two of them after that scene. Their romance was believable and realistic. One could see that they complimented each so well. Some people complained about how Jake didn't connect well with his father. I don't see that as a flaw because it is not a mother and daughter reunion, it's a father and son. So I don't know why some people said the director should have made it emotional, why? 🤨.

The location used for this movie was amazing, and the setting was done well which will make you notice the Christmas theme. The plot was good but with some flaws like some unrealistic scenes that shouldn't be there and there was no comedy to this movie. Some scenes were written with no alignment to human nature for example how could Jake and Rachel spend an entire night in a car during the winter? How is that possible humanly? Also, we got the impression that Rachel was seeking to meet her birth mother but in the end, it wasn't resolved which made me or gave me the illusion that there will be a sequel to this movie. Hello, why was the end rushed with no good resolution? This is a big flaw I found in the plot and storyline.

One thing that didn't sit right with me in this movie was the fact that scriptwriters made cheating on your significant other look cool and justified. Apart from that, this movie is a good watch and it's enjoyable. Rating this, I would give it 4 stars out of 5 stars. I would recommend this movie to Christmas movie lovers, and romantic movie lovers. If you haven't watched it go on now and watch it. The ending speech made me blush in a silly way. 😅

  2. The Noel Diary: not a Christmas movie but it's ok [ENG/ESP]@andr3apat1no1306d

    ENGLISH

I am one of those people who practically from November 1st get into holiday mode and from that date I start watching any number of movies related to the same, this year, one of the premieres of Netflix for this time was "The Diary of Noel" that at first premise we think will be a Christmas romance movie, but not the plot has little to do with this celebration although that does not mean that the film is bad, it really has a very nice message and in this post I will talk about it.

    IMG_20221130_165715.jpg

    IMG_20221130_165505.jpg

Jake Turner impersonated by Justin Hartley who we know from the famous "This is us", is a famous best seller writer who we are introduced as a rather lonely man who only has the company of his pet Ava, on the eve of Christmas he receives a call from the executor of his mother's will and through it he learns that she has died, then he has the task of returning to his hometown to put in order the matter of the property he has inherited. One day Rachel (Barrett Doss) a stranger shows up at his door looking for answers about who his birth mother was, as she was a nanny for the Turners. Together they decide to embark on a journey to get Rachel's answers and make amends to Jake's family.

The beauty of this film is to see how the dual personalities of our protagonists make them complement each other, we really see the definition of "opposites attract". She has a need to feel stability derived from the uncertainty of being adopted and that is why she clings to a relationship with which she is not happy. He is a box of surprises dominated by the fear of commitment derived from what happened with his parents in the past, also, since his brother died there is a part of him that does not show the world and Rachel is responsible for bringing it to the surface. IMG_20221130_165743.jpg

We have Bonnie Bedelía as a secondary character, being the Turner's neighbor, she is in charge of advising and empowering Jake to leave that armor he has been making himself over the years. Also, throughout the film we see beautiful winter landscapes that are the necessary "festive" touch to make it feel like a Christmas movie.

The message of the film calls us to take risks, to go out of our comfort zone to do what we like and to be happier, it also invites us to leave grudges aside to move forward, all this with a touch of romance and a little bit of comedy that make balance to have a good movie. I recommend watching it, I give it a 7/10.

Hello dear Hive community, I hope you are doing well. Today I want to come and talk to you about a "Christmas" movie that was recently released on Netflix that I think is perfect to start this holiday season and I'm talking about "Noel's Diary".

The story features performances by Justin Hartley (Jacob Turner), Barrett Doss (Rachel), Bonnie Badelia (Rachel) among other characters that are quite secondary, it also has the beautiful performance of a cute little dog that stole my heart. The story is about a super famous writer with many books sold meets a girl who wants to find her mother because she is adopted, for reasons that connect them end up making a trip where love will emerge, but there is a problem she is a girl engaged. The movie could be watched with our children as it only has sexual references but they don't show the act or anything like that or scenes of violence.

Let's talk about our protagonists, I think the truth is that I got hooked with the story was because of the undeniable chemistry that the actors have, the characters are good and charismatic people who despite everything have a past that in some ways do not allow them to move forward, the two embark on a journey where they get to know and like each other, on the other hand they discover certain things that they did not know about their past and can reassure them, Rachel is a very charismatic character since she appeared on screen, I felt her with an incredible wit that I liked from the beginning, on the other hand Jacob besides being handsome is a very closed person, who prefers to be alone, I feel that between the two is the one who has a more noticeable progress and weakness more in sight, on the other hand Rachel on the other hand is afraid of not feeling safe and therefore always seeks comfort, something that at the end of the film gives the viewer the feeling that can give us a sad ending.

The story itself is pretty fast paced, I liked it a lot. I saw it and I laughed in several parts like when Jacob talks that this is not a romantic comedy and that's why there is not a single room, but after a few minutes they stay in the same room hahahahahah I laughed because he is a writer, I also feel that the name of the film makes sense when in certain scenes fragments of what is written or a voice narrating it is a nice detail, it is a story that develops slowly and the romance is not forced at all something nice that is not embarrassing to see.

I give it an 8/10 I feel that the ending was quite nice but cliché although I really wanted it, I needed something to surprise me, although it is worth watching it for the love story and even the resolution of their conflicts as people, I don't know if it's worth more the Christmas of Golpe that was the movie I really wanted to see to start Christmas, but certainly Noel's diary left me a good taste in my mouth (although I don't know why Noel because she is a woman, it doesn't sound very convincing but well) read you soon.
