The Bear/ Serie Review

I've been wanting to watch this series for a while, but I hadn't gotten around to it; sometimes I felt like watching it, but other times I'd forget about it, or I just wasn't that interested—I don't know. The point is, I finally decided to watch it, and now I can't stop, even though I've only just finished the first season.

The Bear is the name of this series, which tells the story of a famous chef who decides to return home to work at the family business—a small sandwich shop—alongside a somewhat troublesome staff.

At first, I didn’t quite understand the point of this series or the plot itself, but as each episode unfolds, you start to get the hang of it. This reminded me a bit of cooking shows on TV, where everything is chaos: the chef giving orders, the others trying to keep up with him, the shouting, the insults, the frustration when something goes wrong. In this case, it’s the recipes, the orders, managing the kitchen, the food, and serving customers; without a doubt, they work under a lot of pressure.

It might sound a bit absurd, but some of us find this kind of series entertaining—people yelling at each other, focused on what they’re doing, without wasting time on romances that are boring and take away from the plot. Well, that’s my opinion; maybe that’s why I liked it. In fact, as I watched this season, I found myself thinking, “How strange that there haven’t been any romantic scenes or anything like that.” Without a doubt, the main point is to show just how difficult it is to work in an environment like this.

If we talk a little about the characters, each one has their own role, starting with the protagonist, who is the boss and, as such, loses control, gets angry, and feels frustrated. Dealing with each of his employees, making sure they keep up with him, and maintaining order amid all that chaos isn’t easy—not to mention that he has to adapt, since he comes from working in a fine-dining restaurant and then finds himself in this place, a far cry from the dishes he’s used to serving.

Maybe that’s not the point of the plot, but to me it reflects what we don’t see behind the scenes in a restaurant kitchen—because it’s not about creating new dishes, but about attracting customers who love what you do. I like to cook; in fact, my dream was to study to become a chef, but when I think about all that pressure—well, it’s definitely not easy, because even the simplest dish takes work, and if you’re striving for perfection, it’s twice the work.

“The Bear” isn't a masterpiece, but it's a series that's different from what we're used to seeing, with short episodes and emotional intensity in every episode—without too much drama, yet with an engaging pace.

Hace un tiempo que tenía ganas de ver esta serie, pero no me había animado; a veces me provocaba, pero otras se me olvidaba, o simplemente no tenía tanto interés, no lo sé. El punto es que finalmente me animé a verla, y ahora no puedo parar, y eso que apenas acabo de terminar de mirar la primera temporada.

The Bear es el nombre de esta serie, donde la historia se basa en un famoso chef, el cual decide regresar a casa, a trabajar en el negocio familiar, un pequeño restaurante de ventas de sándwiches, junto con un personal algo conflictivo.

Al principio no entendía bien el punto de esta serie, la trama como tal, pero a medida que transcurre cada episodio, le vas agarrando un poco el hilo. Esto me hizo recordar un poco a los programas de televisión de cocina, donde vemos que todo es un caos: el chef dando órdenes, los demás tratando de agarrarle el ritmo, los gritos, insultos, la frustración cuando algo no sale bien. En este caso, las recetas, los pedidos, el manejo de la cocina, la comida, el atender a los clientes; sin duda, se trabaja bajo mucha presión.

Puede ser algo absurdo, pero algunos nos entretiene este tipo de series, gente gritándose, enfocados en lo que hacen, sin perder el tiempo, en romances que aburren y le quitan sentido a la trama. Bueno, esa es mi opinión; será por eso que me gustó. De hecho, me vi esta temporada, y pensaba: "Qué extraño que no haya habido escenas de romance y esas cosas". Sin duda, el punto principal es mostrar lo difícil que es trabajar en un ambiente como este.

Si hablamos un poco de los personajes, cada uno tiene su papel, empezando por el protagonista, que viene siendo el jefe y, como tal, pierde el control, la ira y la frustración. El lidiar con cada uno de sus empleados, que le sigan el ritmo, mantener el orden dentro de todo ese caos, no es fácil, aparte de que tiene que adaptarse, puesto que viene de trabajar en un restaurante de alta cocina, para luego meterse en este sitio, muy alejado de los platos que estaría acostumbrado a servir.

Tal vez no es el punto de la trama, pero para mí es un reflejo de lo que no vemos detrás de la cocina en un restaurante, porque no se trata de crear nuevos platos, sino de lograr atraer a esos clientes que amen lo que haces. A mí me gusta cocinar; de hecho, mi sueño era estudiar para ser chef, pero pienso en toda esta presión y, pues, sin duda, no es fácil, porque el plato más sencillo igual es trabajo, y si buscas perfección, es el doble de trabajo.

The Bear no es una obra maestra, pero es una serie diferente a lo que estamos acostumbrados a ver, con episodios cortos y con una intensidad emocional en cada capítulo, sin tanto drama, pero a la vez, con un ritmo atractivo.

Bueno, esta es mi opinión; apenas voy por la primera temporada, veremos cómo continúa esta historia, y si ya la vieron, díganme qué tal les pareció,epa, sin hacerme spoiler, jeje...😁
