En una ciudad de estados unidos somos llevados por todo estos paisajes del urbanismo el cual aparenta ser bastante caluroso y nos aproximamos hacia una plaza donde está vendiendo helado un carrito tipo food truck, hay una fila enorme de niños que quieren una paleta y al final estan unos niños sentados comiendo unos helados y esta otro chico un poco mayor que ellos en bicicleta, habla con un chico el cual pareciera no prestarle atención ya que el de la bici solo se va, haciendo un extraño gesto/saludo super rapido y se va rápidamente cruzando el parque llegando a un pasaje por el bosque que está completamente solo, aca hay pura tensión en el ambiente mientras este chico solo va en su bici a toda máquina. Aunque es detenido de golpe por lo que pareciera ser una fuerza invisible, sale volando por los aires en dirección contraria a donde se dirigía y la bici sigue su camino, y desapareciendo de la escena lentamente…
In a city in the United States we are taken through all these landscapes of urbanism which appears to be quite hot and we approach a square where a food truck is selling ice cream, there is a huge line of children who want a popsicle and at the end there are some kids sitting eating ice cream and there is another guy a little older than them on a bicycle, he talks to a guy who doesn't seem to pay attention to him as the guy on the bike just rides off, making a strange gesture/greeting super fast and quickly rides off across the park arriving at a passage through the woods that is completely alone, there is pure tension in the air as this guy just rides his bike at full speed. Although he is suddenly stopped by what seems to be an invisible force, he goes flying through the air in the opposite direction to where he was going and the bike continues on its way, slowly disappearing from the scene...
Pasamos a las vistas en una casa (muy bonita por cierto) dándonos todos los detalles, mostrando a lo que parecieran ser sus integrantes que están dormidos, un núcleo familiar normal, un papa, una mama y un hijo, todo normal; nos dan estos panoramas a oscuras de los integrantes y de toda la casa, como cocina, sala, escaleras y habitaciones.
We move on to the views in a house (very nice by the way) giving us all the details, showing what seems to be its members who are asleep, a normal family nucleus, a father, a mother and a son, all normal; we are given these dark panoramas of the members and of the whole house, such as kitchen, living room, stairs and rooms.
Al amanecer de lo que suponemos es ese mismo dia estamos en la cocina viendo a la madre preparar unos pancakes pero esta completamente lela y se le queman, desechandolos y su hijo entra en ese momento diciendo que no es su cumpleaños (no sabia que comian pancakes solamente el dia de sus cumpleaños, datos culturales interesantes) y ella se “excusa” que solo queria prepararlos y ya, el se niega y ocurre un silencio incomodo, ya que el no le quiere responder nada de lo que ella pregunta asi que solo se va ya que estaba apurada y ahi se levanta el padre que le dice al hijo que fue un tonto por no aceptar los pancakes, aunque el solo le pregunta desde cuando duerme en el sofa; el padre solo le dice que quedo dormido viendo la tv (nada raro), este chico exclama que tuvo que haber sido dificil lo que su madre le hizo (la madre del chico, esposa de el). Cambiando el tema el padre le pregunta si ahora pelea en el colegio porque es evidente debido a sus morados en sus pómulos. la cosa no pasa a mayores.
At dawn of what we assume to be that same day we are in the kitchen watching the mother prepare some pancakes but she's completely confused and they burn, discarding them and her son enters at that moment saying that it's not his birthday (I didn't know they only ate pancakes on their birthdays, interesting cultural facts) and she "excuses" herself that she just wanted to prepare them and that's all, he refuses and an awkward silence occurs, since he doesn't want to answer anything she asks so she just leaves since she was in a hurry and then the father gets up and tells the son that he was a fool for not accepting the pancakes, although he only asks him since when does he sleep on the couch; the father just tells him that he fell asleep watching TV (nothing unusual), this boy exclaims that it must have been hard what his mother did to him (the boy's mother, his wife). Changing the subject, the father asks him if he is now fighting at school because it is evident from the bruises on his cheekbones.
El padre que conoceremos como Greg sube las escaleras para percatarse que falta una foto en un cuadro, no le toma importancia y sigue su camino, mientras se alistaba recibe una llamada de su esposa, la que ahora conocemos como jackie, diciéndole que dejó pancakes en la cocina, el molesto le dice que no es de su agrado prácticamente y cuelga lanzando su tlf por la ventana (lo que sea que haya hecho esta mujer, estuvo potente), arrepentido porque rompió la ventana, llama a un especialista para que la arregle mientras visualiza una taza de flores amarillas en el tejado por la que había preguntado su esposa en la mañana, antes de quemar los pancakes, va a buscarla y encuentra adentro colillas de cigarros, pensando que fui su hijo, Connor.
The father we will know as Greg goes upstairs to realize that a picture is missing in a painting, he does not take it seriously and continues on his way, while he was getting ready he receives a call from his wife, the one we now know as Jackie, telling him that he left pancakes in the kitchen, annoyed he tells her that it is not to his liking practically and hangs up throwing his phone out the window (whatever this woman has done, it was powerful), was potent), remorseful because he broke the window, he calls a specialist to fix it while visualizing a cup of yellow flowers on the roof that his wife had asked about in the morning, before burning the pancakes, he goes to look for it and finds cigarette butts inside, thinking it was his son, Connor.
Greg va al trabajo, es un detective, su superior lo pone al tanto de que hay dos niños desaparecidos ese mes, y que el cuerpo de este último no ha sido encontrado, solo su bicicleta, le dará toda la autoridad en esta investigación; dirigiéndose inmediatamente al lugar de los hechos donde lo esperaba un colega para ponerlo al tanto de la situación sin dar con algo relevante en ese momento.
Greg goes to work, he is a detective, his superior informs him that there are two children missing that month, and that the body of the latter has not been found, only his bicycle, he will give him all the authority in this investigation; heading immediately to the scene where a colleague was waiting for him to update him on the situation without finding anything relevant at that time.
Nos vamos, a la casa de nuestros protagonistas otra vez, con jackie que está bajando unas compras (por cierto, que cocina tan bonita) y escucha pasos arriba, yendo a investigar se topa de frente con el especialista de la ventana que solo estaba escuchando musica y no la oyó, nada grave, se asustan, pero se identifica y no pasa a mayores; bajan para despedir y firmar los papeles, Jackie le hace una pregunta curiosa y es quien lo deja pasar y el yéndose solo le dice que “su hija, que por cierto, es bien educada” y se va; dejando a jackie confundida porque no tiene ninguna hija ni chica aparte de ella en esa casa.
We go to the house of our protagonists again, with Jackie who is bringing down some groceries (by the way, what a nice kitchen) and hears footsteps upstairs, going to investigate she runs head-on into the window specialist who was just listening to music and didn't hear her, nothing serious, they get scared, but he identifies himself and it doesn't become a big deal; They go downstairs to say goodbye and sign the papers, Jackie asks him a curious question and he lets him in and he just says "your daughter, who by the way, is well educated" and leaves, leaving Jackie confused because he doesn't have any daughter or girl besides her in that house.
Pasamos la noche y nos encontramos con una cena extravagante donde solo están Connor y Jackie, ella le pregunta si en la mañana dejó pasar a un reparador pero él le responde “es eso? te tiraste a un reparador?” y ella queda como… muy mal (igual que yo y que tú) Connor arremete contra ella que como pudo hacerle eso a su padre (dando a entender que ella le fue infiel con alguien que desconocemos pero el chisme nos obliga a conocerlo), que eran felices hasta que ella lo arruino y se va.
We spend the night and we find an extravagant dinner where only Connor and Jackie are there, she asks him if in the morning he let a repairman in but he replies "is that it? did you fuck a repairman?" and she is like... very bad (just like me and you) Connor lashes out at her that how could she do that to his father (implying that she was unfaithful with someone we don't know but the gossip forces us to know him), that they were happy until she ruined it and leaves.
Todo consternada y cargada queda parada en la cocina en lo que llega su marido y este no le dice nada, ni una sola palabra, aunque ella trata de sacarle conversación, porque denunció al reparador porque ahora faltan los cubiertos de plata que estaban en la gaveta, ahí es cuando el le dice que está loca y se va hacia su habitación, donde nota que ahora falta otra foto en las escaleras, ella aun mas triste apaga la tv y cuando se está yendo se enciende otra vez. Jackie queda poco tiempo pensando que las cosas que están pasando, no son normales.
All dismayed and burdened she stands in the kitchen when her husband arrives and he does not say anything, not a word, although she tries to get him to talk to her, because she denounced the repairman because now the silverware that was in the drawer is missing, that is when he tells her she is crazy and goes to her room, where she notices that now another picture is missing on the stairs, she even more sad she turns off the TV and when she is leaving she turns it on again. Jackie is left for a short time thinking that the things that are happening are not normal.
This feature film leaves us in suspense because it is not consequent of what follows many times, you have to pay too much attention to detail, because there really is so much to analyze, too many of these things will make sense at the end giving you a tremendous and abrupt plot twist. I really liked that it always tries to maintain the suspense giving more and more mysterious scenarios and the soundtrack does its job very well as well as the special effects, it is a good movie to pass the time.
