In recent time, I was thinking about where to share movie/drama/anime reviews in Hive. In the past it wasn’t an issue but now most of those communities are not so active where I used to share my reviews. So, I am thankful to the Scrobble.life frontend for giving an active community where I can share my reviews. In recent day I am watching anime a lot and yesterday finished watching an anime “Tying the Knot with an Amagami Sister”. I can’t remember who recommended it to me, but it was on my list and that’s why I started watching it. So, let’s review it.
“Tying the Knot with an Amagami Sister” is a Japanese anime with 24 episodes. Each episode length is 20+ minutes. At the beginning it shows that Uryu Kamihate is a hard-working student and his dream is to be a doctor so that he wants to get admission to the top medical school. He lost his mother at an early age and lived in an orphanage. He has a clear goal and is ready to overcome all the difficulties on the way. He is suddenly told that he must marry one of the three beautiful sisters living at a shrine. He didn’t support the idea, but they needed to face it due to special situations of him.
The three sisters- Yae Amagami, Yuna Amagami, and Asahi Amagami have different personalities. Actually, they are not blood related sisters. They were adopted but the bonding between sisters is quite strong. They are ready to support each other and ready for sacrifice also. Each of them has their own dreams, struggles and emotional depth. When the communication between three sisters and Uryu Kamihate is established, he figures out that none of them show their concern for the sake of others.
He is good at reading the situation. He figures out that the elder sister seems cheerful and tries to enjoy life but seems to be lost somewhere and even having so many skills, she can’t imagine any future for her. Due to her childhood situation, she wants freedom badly, but she doesn’t know what to do after achieving freedom and seems lost.
The little sister seems to be cool and tries to act mature. Her sister loves her a lot, but she feels her sister taking her as the little cutie all the time and she tries to show them she is mature and sometimes she even gets angry for not taking her so seriously and that’s why she wants to get mature as soon as possible and to live separate from the sister but actually when she get he chance, she doesn't choose it because she don’t want to live a life without her sisters.
In case of the remaining one, she is quite serious and seems distant from Uryu Kamihate. She even tries many methods to make Uryu Kamihate leave and, but when he actually leaves, she gets worried considering the situation of Uryu Kamihate.
Due to past incidents and the involvement of supernatural forces/power Uryu Kamihate find out the difficulties, dreams and thoughts of three sisters. Uryu Kamihate also starts to change while interacting with them. The romance develops gradually between three sisters and Uryu Kamihate but this anime not only focuses on romance and comedy. It shows the family bond, personal growth.
Everything was ok but I don’t find the reason for the dream of Uryu Kamihate because what he dreams, it comes true, but he can’t change it. I feel it’s kind of unnecessary and has no connection with the story. Besides I feel that the story can be arranged differently without the supernatural force or power without changing the main theme.
Whatever, it’s a decent one to watch and consider a rom-com anime. If it doesn’t suit your taste, I don’t recommend it. I rate the anime 65/100. But I guarantee that it’s not boring, even if I am not giving a high rating for it.
