Discussing Spider-Man: No Way Home After One Month Watching It

Review by @isdarmady · 1662d · of Spider-Man: No Way Home

Hello everyone and all members of Movie & TV Show Community, this is my first time participating in this community since I joined Hive. When I was in college a few years ago, I had a special blog to discuss local and international movies. This time, I want to try to be active again to write and review movies and for my first post in this community, I want to talk about my experience and my opinion about Spider-Man: No Way Home.

I went to see this film on 15th December 2021, it is the premiere in my country. I was invited by my brother-in-law to watch this film, I know he is a Spider-man fan, he begged me to get cinema tickets for the premiere and the first time it was shown. He doesn't want to get spoilers if he doesn't watch the movie premiere.

In Indonesia, tickets for Spider-Man: No Way Home are on preorder. you know ? I ordered it on December 5, 2021, 10 days and even then, one hour after the open sale, the preorder tickets were already sold 50%, the Indonesian people's interest was extraordinary for this movie with the most popular Marvel Comics characters. I arrived at the cinema at that time, the audience was already very crowded and filled the cinema, and even though it was one in the afternoon. The audience has a varied age range from children, teenagers and adults.

Initially, I wanted to write about this movie when I finished watching it, but I find it difficult to write without telling the spoilers, so I chose to discuss this movie after one month I watched it. There are several things that I highlight about this film, and I will try to discuss them one by one.

Storyline Debate

In my country, there is a very heated debate about the storyline of Spider-Man: No Way Home. The beginning of all these conflicts is considered very trivial, namely the selfishness of Peter Parker (Tom Holland). At that time, Peter Parker's girlfriend and best friend was rejected from university because of his relationship with Peter Parker and at that time, Spider-man was considered a bringer of conflict and disaster.

At first, I also felt very irritated. Why is the conflict just a teenager thing like this and it throws the whole world into chaos? but I realized that Peter Parker was still a teenager at that time. We all have moments or have experienced when we failed to enter the university we wanted, it was very painful, there were even several cases of suicide and depression in my country because of failing to enter my favorite university. Especially with the condition of our girlfriends and friends who are also refused to go to university, because of one thing we do. The pain will be doubled, adolescence is also full of high solidarity. I think a storyline like this will relate more to Peter Parker's age at that time.

Comeback

When this film was about to be released, there were rumors (eventually reality) about the comeback of the first two Peter Parker actors in the previous Spider-Man movie. Tobey Maguire (Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3) and Andrew Garfield (The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2). This is something that continues to be a question for fans, especially when the trailer for this movie brings up many of the villain characters in the previous Spider-Man films.

Marvel Studios continues to deny the involvement of Tobey and Andrew, but fans' expectations can't be contained, especially when they see photos of Andrew Garfield wearing a Spider-Man costume spread on social media. I see the ingenuity of Marvel Studios playing and managing the conversation on this issue well.

Finally, fans' expectations were met. The two main Spiderman characters in the past appear in this film, not as cameos but have many scenes. I still remember the hysteria of one cinema cheering and clapping (myself included) when both appeared. Instantly, I was like a flashback with moments from past Spider-Man movies. The first Spider-man movie came out in 2002, and now when it comes out in 2021, it's 19 years old. It feels like nostalgia to me, and I always wonder why Tobey Maguire never looks old, he is 46 years old now, what kind of skincare does he use?

Multiverse

Have you watched Avengers: End Game? When I finished watching this movie, I was thinking hard, how can Marvel Studios increase their hegemony or maintain their hegemony. Avengers: End Game had it all back then, the highest grossing film and also considered the best marvel film and at that time I thought Marvel Studios was done.

Marvel Studios took a cool step that we probably never thought of, namely the concept of the multiverse. They were able to grab the attention of the public by showing several villain characters in the Spideram-Man movie and then very smoothly and beautifully. With this multiverse concept, I'm sure Marvel Studios will not run out of ideas, maybe in the future it will be very cool if the X-Men (like Wolverine, Magneto, or Professor X) can join, I'm sure it will be very exciting.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is the umpteenth superhero film from Marvel Studios, until 2022, people's interest in watching superhero movies may still be high. I'm not a fan of superhero movies, I only watch because I want to get entertainment. I am also curious, how will the development of superhero movies in the future.

Spiderman: No Way Home was a master stroke from Marvel. It triggered the nostalgia of several generations at once, who grew up with Tobey or Andrew as Spiderman. Nice write-up. !1UP

Nice post man! I agree with most of it, it's good, it delivers what it promises... I just wish that the structure was better in the first act.
