With a dream cast led by the always fascinating Denzel Washington, Rami Malek and a once again challenging Jared Leto, they follow a sheriff's obsession with catching a serial killer.

The master of psychological suspense John Lee Hancock Han, renowned for bringing out the best in his stars, brings out the best in each of them in a nuanced thriller.

Every detail onstage carries symbolic weight, revealing the painful cracks in the psyches of the protagonists.

With its surgical direction that plays with timing and leaves much to suggestion, it manages to make the skin crawl.

And the claustrophobic photography of the nocturnal settings adds to the harrowing aesthetic.

The Little Things proves that you don't need big effects to be captivated, its great triumph is to leave the audience with so many questions at the end.

A cerebral piece of cinema of the highest order.
